  • Thanks for your reply, i buy the plants from the supermarket and maybe i need to re-pot, i check they don't get too dry and there is light coming through the bathroom but maybe not enough.I was going to plant some in the garden today but we have freezing cold weather this evening in the UK.

  • I was wondering if one could treat potted herbs like a bonsai when in a large pot if roots get too much and space is running out, instead of looking for a ten inch from a six in or what ever largest size your growing in, take the herb out trim the roots by a third or a take of a quarter? mixing myself up here and then trim off the top and repot, would this work?

  • @freakygeaktwo worth a try but when I haven't actually done it it is hard for me to say what would work.. gardening experiments are fun give it a try..

  • I started growing basil and rosemary, they seemed to thrive in the bathroom and then they just died, i keep trying but one min they look great and then they wilt, i keep trying.

  • @1beverleys , I have rosemary in my patio, cool area and I keep it on the dry side seems to be working the basil I have a pot , it is surviving , watch your water, make sure gets good lighting and yes try again... that is what I would do.. :)

  • @1beverleys with each try do you do anything different to keep them longer ? I find basil does not like to be moved about from spot to spot too much once they get use to a light source and are doing great keep them there and they will grow like weeds.also you'll want to do what's called succession planting as one lot dies back the next one starts up.

  • I would like to grow rosemary now. I am in Ga and I am wondering if this will work inside.

  • @superslyfoxx1 , you can only try in your area, I am in the midwest and will be starting some soon for my greenhouse.. I also have one growing in my back patio that I need to harvest very soon it was left over from last season.. they take a while to grow from seed just to let you know..

  • @dianemummvideos Oh wow..that was a quick reply. Thanks so much. So... I will give it a try. Also, this may sound kinda odd... but what about the rosemary fresh cuttings you buy from the store. Do you think they will take root? My neighborhood store sells packaged fresh rosemary.

  • @superslyfoxx1 , I haven't tried it but give it a shot.. I grow mine from seed.. which can be time consuming or find someone selling plugs already rooted .. good luck..

  • @dianemummvideos Thanks again for your help

  • I've tried to grow herbs indoors but i get quite of few net bugs

  • Hi there

will the pots you buy from supermarket for about 50p-£1 will it continue to grow when i pick it off to use? its about 7inch's high and the pot size is 3inch diameter at the moment, how long does it take to regenarate do i just pick it off with my hands or scissors.how often to water it im trying to learn some basic's on these herbs ,so im asking you someome who knows what there doing

    great channel thank you...

  • @SoundOut260 , that size of pot will be fine until the roots get crowded, you will notice this as it will dry out quickly, then you can go up a pot size and transplant them. How fast it grows depends on the area you have it growing in and the lighting and plant food you may use. Cutting with a scissors or shears of some sort works best. Water when feels dry to the touch, just poke your finger in the soil , you will be able to tell.. thanks for stopping by and good luck! hope this helped!

  • @dianemummvideos thank you for your reply a great help much appreciated.all the best

  • do you ever put the lavender outside, or do you just grow it indoors? thank you

  • @d25music , yes it sometimes winters here with protection, just thought would be fun to enjoy in the long cold months indoors, but yes it would grow fine outdoors..

  • very nice

  • My videos on my HOOPHOUSE covers some of the herbs because I dappled in companion planting. Oh, I forgot to tell you I also had borage this year. I mention herbs in my perennial gardens videos, feverfew being one of my favorites. I am a self taught perennial gardener, but always did veggies. My Mom and Dad being my inspiration. During the Winter I like to do metal and glass sculptures (in my videos). I am working on a Christmas stichery stocking for my newest Granddaughter inbetween WEEDING.

  • @dkulikowski , well I look forward to your new videos, and I have self taught myself a plenty too, with the help of just plain hands on hard work.. or should I say work, I do love what I do . I see many a hoophouses on videos, it must work well.. happy gardening!

  • Hi Diane, I brought in my Italian Sweet Basil and Lemon Verbena. Soon I will be putting the Lemon Verbena down in my basement by an east window. I will let it go dormant, watering it very little. (Just enough to keep it alive, every 10 days ). In March I will bring it upstairs, cut it back to half its size and water it. Lemon Verbena is my favorite herb for tea making. I also have peppermint, garlic chives, lemon balm, italian parsley, sweet ciceley, chamomile, spearmint, chives, cilantro.

  • @dkulikowski , thanks for commenting, :) you do many herbs , really good to see , will you post some videos on herb gardening? I plan on planting a few seeds very soon , trying to keep my sanity for the winter months..thanks for stopping by!

  • What Herbs are you Growing Indoors?

  • I just might try t again this year....I've never had much luck with indoor herbs.

  • @jihadacadien , you should try again, that is if you use herbs.. I am going to try several from seed here very soon, see what happens..
