WOW. This version of Millionaire is much different. I prefer the hot seat. I don't like this 2 round, mixing up the money values thing. I don't like the jumps either. If I had to choose the lifelines, I go for 50:50, Double Dip and Ask the Expert. I want the Millionaire format from the season before this. Anyone know a way of contacting Millionaire?
So basically, they made the Facebook millionaire the real millionaire? Only thing different I see between the two (besides you're competing against yourself and not 9 others) is no timer, and you get the Audience lifeline instantly instead of at the $100,000 question.
If they played the same game this past season, the show would have been cancelled at the end of the 9th season. The new rules and new set gave the show a fresh new start.
Millionaire in its old format was a little slow...I actually like this change, its faster more strategy is involved, and it encourages a smarter strategy. At least they didnt change to Australia's hot seat format.

@DarkMoonCreations Sorry, you fell that way. And unfortunetly (like Mecha03 said), Millionaire UK cancelled the show for low ratings, as there will be only celebrity episodes. I know, not everyone is a fan of the Shuffle Format, but it's a "real game changer". Look on the bright side, at least Millionaire US hasn't been cancelled yet.
I don't think this game show is going to last much longer. They have changed drastically too much in just 8 years. It seems like since 2006 each year has been changed. I use to like this show when Regis was hosting but since its been in syndication its not fun at all. That's why Jeopardy & Wheel of Fortune are America's Games, they change almost each season but its minor to where the game remains the same favorite after 27 & 28 years later.
First guy is a complete dork. As for the format, I kinda like it (for a prime time version though.) and the format was good with the clock. It should be back in here (SERIOUSLY)
They could have made the clocked or classic version interesting again. It wouldn't take that much really.You could 1. as the question gets higher and the contestant takes longer you could darken the stage more, shining a light only on the contestant, 2. fog the stage a little like halloween, and 3. bring back 50-50 to be used at random by the computer, ie (expert suggest an answer then once they disconnect, if the answer the expert gave was wrong, auto invoke 50-50 to add to suspense) etc....

I liked the clock format better. This version not only has a hint of fruit casserole in it, but it also looks to chew up a lot more time than either of the old formats.
"Let's jump the question" has been axed as a catchphrase, mercifully. I just love the format more and more as I watch it. It's replaced my Price is Right watching for sure.
Round 2 is explicitly subtitled Classic Millionaire and plays out as such, with the amounts listed *becoming* the contestant's bank on a correct answer and the questions getting tougher and tougher. So you've still got that.
Did anyone notice the question hexagons becoming the classic black after a Jumped question?

What happened to the classic millionaire? I remember back when there was 15 question with 3 lifelines, then there was Super Millionaire, then back to regular, then they lowered a couple of the money questions for a new lifeline, I didn't have a problem with that. Then they put in the clock, come on, the constestants will need more than 45 seconds for a $500, 000 question. Then they took away the phone a friend. Now this...no hot seat, none of the music...how did Millionaire change so much?
Although, I liked the US clock format better (my favourite millionaire in the world, both in terms of game play and layout) this version is in a way more generous in that there's up to $69,600 up for grabs in round 1.
I realise if they get past round 1 and they for example play the $100,000 question and get it wrong, they go with $25,000, but let's say they've accrued $69,600 in round 1 then jump the $100k and $250k questions can the contestant walk away with $69,600 on the $500,000 question?
Answered my own question by playing the game online (I kept wondering how to walk away then realised you had to select an answer in order to walk) You can walk away with the banked total. Weird how you can use ask the audience more than once, takes a bit of fun out of the game.
While I will miss the "Hot Seat" and it's unfortunate that I won't be able to sit there if I'm ever lucky enough to make the show, I love this new format. It rejuvenated my interest back in the program. I got tired of seeing the clock forcing walk aways now. The elimination of half your bank if you walk away in Round 1 means more risk and let's bring back the adage "Risk = Reward" for Millionaire.
Trust me NO ONE is EVER going to win a Million dollars. People jump too early and the format is so boring, the audience is cheering but for WHAT?!!!!! Contestants ALWAYS Walk away with half of their winnings they will NEVER get to the second round. I personally liked the clock format the music was Awesome but this is just Garbage!
The producers are getting kind of stupid with it now, HOWEVER, I am REALLY GLAD that they removed the clock.
I think there needs to be two different versions of the show, this new format and something like "Classic Millionaire" in which the hot-seat is still used, the original music (I HATE the music in this new version), the original money tree, and original lifelines.
Having said that, I know that they have to keep it interesting and...I kind of like the shuffling of questions and values.
For those wondering, after 2+ weeks of the new format, most markets ratings are still way up for Millionaire. On average, they are roughly 15%-20% better than the previous 2 seasons after two weeks.
So, while it seems there are a few very loud complainers, it looks like this format is a winner in bringing some people back to Millionaire in the United States.
I don't mind the new format (it resolves what I thought was one of the biggest flaws of the game, which was the "boringness" of the first few questions), but I don't understand why they had to get rid of the hot seat... was it really such a crime to allow the contestant and the host to sit?
@quiznationrules I know! this format is complete utter crap. This doesn't even resemble Millionaire anymore. It just feels like some other show using Millionaire's set.
The new format is alright, though they could've made better music.
But let's face it people who don't like the new changes. Is making major changes a gamble? Heck yeah. But so, too, is standing pat. People can only enjoy something for so long before being bored of it and wanting to try something else, and I'm sure this applies to many of you as well. Maybe if some of you supported the show more, they wouldn't have to make such changes to freshen up the show and bring fans back.
@CKLiveProductions Ratings for Millionaire are up in almost all markets since this format change. They actually went even higher on Tuesday, showing people are very much interested in these changes and are tuning in.
People got bored of the old format, so this was a much needed change.
This is only the first episode. The first episode of a new series of something always has higher ratings. But I'm certainly expecting them to go down. Millionaire is Millionaire for what it was and this format just makes it look like shit. Randomising? Bank? WTF?
Sorry but this new format is absolute garbage. The show had been a consistent winner until they added the stupid clock, but at least then they added the Super Millionaire intro/outro cues & only tinkered with the lifelines & the other music cues. This is an entirely different show WITHOUT the Hot Seat, & I'm not happy about it.
I do appreciate you posting this as I was in school when this aired. I guess all I'm left with to enjoy is J! & WoF (as I now hate Millionaire, Feud, & Price).

Its just not millionaire anymore. i like how the questions are randomised but the music sucks they dont even have the "classic intro music and lights" they they used to do before a question. I did not mind the clock at all it made the game faster and added beat to the music. I would hate to see the show cancelled.

Honestly, why does everyone hate the new music? I think it's absolutely superb! I think it captures the spirit of the old who, while adding in something new for the new format.
Secondly, it is still Millionaire! It follows all the same things that make a show Millionaire: 4-choice questions, a money ladder, walking away, and lifelines! The only REAL difference is that you don't know where you are on the money ladder.
I think that the show is absolutely superb. It's a needed breath of fresh air.

I love this millionaire!! It is better and more money. Better than deal or no deal cause you are not trying to knock the money out of play. miss the clock but its still good!
I do believe are heading towards something. It is a good that they got rid of the clock, because this gives more time to think, unlike before. The randomizing of the amounts is also something unique, as it adds more drama and suspense. So maybe these changes aren't as bad as everyone is saying.

2: They removed the most famous thing ever: THE HOT SEAT.

While I will miss the "Hot Seat" and it's unfortunate that I won't be able to sit there if I'm ever lucky enough to make the show, I love this new format. It rejuvenated my interest back in the program. I got tired of seeing the clock forcing walk aways now. The elimination of half your bank if you walk away in Round 1 means more risk and let's bring back the adage "Risk = Reward" for Millionaire.

Trust me NO ONE is EVER going to win a Million dollars. People jump too early and the format is so boring, the audience is cheering but for WHAT?!!!!! Contestants ALWAYS Walk away with half of their winnings they will NEVER get to the second round. I personally liked the clock format the music was Awesome but this is just Garbage!

The producers are getting kind of stupid with it now, HOWEVER, I am REALLY GLAD that they removed the clock.
I think there needs to be two different versions of the show, this new format and something like "Classic Millionaire" in which the hot-seat is still used, the original music (I HATE the music in this new version), the original money tree, and original lifelines.
Having said that, I know that they have to keep it interesting and...I kind of like the shuffling of questions and values.

For those wondering, after 2+ weeks of the new format, most markets ratings are still way up for Millionaire. On average, they are roughly 15%-20% better than the previous 2 seasons after two weeks.
So, while it seems there are a few very loud complainers, it looks like this format is a winner in bringing some people back to Millionaire in the United States.

I don't mind the new format (it resolves what I thought was one of the biggest flaws of the game, which was the "boringness" of the first few questions), but I don't understand why they had to get rid of the hot seat... was it really such a crime to allow the contestant and the host to sit?

The new format is alright, though they could've made better music.
But let's face it people who don't like the new changes. Is making major changes a gamble? Heck yeah. But so, too, is standing pat. People can only enjoy something for so long before being bored of it and wanting to try something else, and I'm sure this applies to many of you as well. Maybe if some of you supported the show more, they wouldn't have to make such changes to freshen up the show and bring fans back.

@CKLiveProductions Ratings for Millionaire are up in almost all markets since this format change. They actually went even higher on Tuesday, showing people are very much interested in these changes and are tuning in.
People got bored of the old format, so this was a much needed change.

This is only the first episode. The first episode of a new series of something always has higher ratings. But I'm certainly expecting them to go down. Millionaire is Millionaire for what it was and this format just makes it look like shit. Randomising? Bank? WTF?

Sorry but this new format is absolute garbage. The show had been a consistent winner until they added the stupid clock, but at least then they added the Super Millionaire intro/outro cues & only tinkered with the lifelines & the other music cues. This is an entirely different show WITHOUT the Hot Seat, & I'm not happy about it.
I do appreciate you posting this as I was in school when this aired. I guess all I'm left with to enjoy is J! & WoF (as I now hate Millionaire, Feud, & Price).

@SJSharkWannabe thats very true, me being a HUGE Millionaire fan i started seeing it back in 2006 and have seen changes throughout the seasons but this is WAY too much. Its just not millionaire anymore. i like how the questions are randomised but the music sucks they dont even have the "classic intro music and lights" they they used to do before a question. I did not mind the clock at all it made the game faster and added beat to the music. I would hate to see the show cancelled.

I'm sorry, but i don't like this new season at all. It doesn't even feel like I'm watching Who Wants To Be A Millionaire anymore. They changed entirely way too much! The only thing I like is the new logo and the new lifeline. Other than that, that's it. The producers are trying way too hard to be like these new game shows. Personally i didn't mind the clock version at all. Sorry, Millionaire you just lost another fan. :(

Honestly, why does everyone hate the new music? I think it's absolutely superb! I think it captures the spirit of the old who, while adding in something new for the new format.
Secondly, it is still Millionaire! It follows all the same things that make a show Millionaire: 4-choice questions, a money ladder, walking away, and lifelines! The only REAL difference is that you don't know where you are on the money ladder.
I think that the show is absolutely superb. It's a needed breath of fresh air.

The first ten questions is almost like playing The Weakest Link. Get a question wrong = lose everything, quit = win the bank, but only half of it.

I do believe are heading towards something. It is a good that they got rid of the clock, because this gives more time to think, unlike before. The randomizing of the amounts is also something unique, as it adds more drama and suspense. So maybe these changes aren't as bad as everyone is saying.

Thanks for uploading! I think the new format is okay. I agree that the clock should've been removed, the contestants seem to answer the questions in a good pace without the clock. I kinda like the camera angles. I miss the hot seat, the old music.
