  • This is so much better with the guitar alone

  • FCKIN NEED FRENCH SUBTITLES !

  • Is he playing a song in fig 8?

  • @thatwasbuttery171717 Penetrate Time (John Frusciante song from his album "From the Sounds Inside")

  • SIMPLY EPIC.....thats all folks..ear candy..

  • when he plays it it always looks so easy what it actually only is for him!

the others who want to learn this (like me too) find it hard to play and it needs practising

  • @Limjucas8396 he Said in the californication making of that this Graphs Come from shooting drugs.

  • anyone get where figure 8 is from?

other than his soul that is...

  • @DonMop Penetrate Time

  • Should be watching his hands, but I can't stop looking at his underbite when he plays *_*

  • does he have pigment loss on his right arm or is that just lighting?

  • @TheGrubification not pigment loss but he had to get skin grafting after he was burnt really bad in a fire at his house.

  • @Limjucas8396 oh ok...thanks

  • @TheGrubification yep no problem. yeah his house burnt down, he lost most of his records and art and whatnot.

  • just watching him play is just..... ughhhh.... hold on I need some new pants

  • I almost dont understand how you can get that good at guitar hah practice practice

  • could be wrong but i think josh might have this guitar now. i know he gave him one as a gift for sure.

  • @prc375 no not this one. john gave josh a tele and let him borrow his white strat on tour but this guitar is johns that anthony paid for when he re joined the band. he would never let this go

  • Wish I could be John..

  • me and my friend wrote a guitar and piano song inspired by john's softer guitar riffs, feel free to check it out on our channel if you have some free time :)

  • Is it me or does he really love the C-shaped chords

  • Comment removed

  • @DYNAMITEAMBITION hendrix style

  • @DYNAMITEAMBITION theres 1 in the video...the intro. what other ones?

  • @cleanitupjohnny25

uh....dani california, tell me baby, snow hey oh, hump de bump, californication, by te way, aound the world, the zephyr song, those other other ones....fool

  • @DYNAMITEAMBITION i thought u meant just here, and your wrong they isnt C shapes in all of those, you obviously dont know what a C shape is... a C shape is what he is holding 0:06 ..that is C shape not 1:18 that is an E shape. educate yourself before you call me a fool..asshole

  • you know john frusciante is technically speaking a truly astounding player. way superior to some of the usual quotes - he just rarely chooses to utilize his chops.

  • who can give me the tabs ?please

  • this is like watching and listening to an angel...... :)))

  • my english is not the best, i think you understood fingerpicking, but i meant when he holds the pick, does he use the standard way (thumb and index) or uses three fingers (thumb, index and middle)?

  • CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF FRUSCIANTE USES THREE OR TWO FINGERS IN PICKING?

  • @joaopedroleitesilva He's using two fingers besides the thumg.

  • @CristianKirk *thumb

  • 7:43 most awesome second in the world xD

  • This vid is popular on Podgorica

  • Really bummed he left RHCP. You can hear in the new album it just doesn't have that RHCP guitar sound i'm so used to hearing. This guy is an incredible guitarist, definitely in my top 5 best guitarists of all time (along with Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Hetfield/Hammett, Lennon/McCartney)

  • He's not a petrucci, or satriani nor erick johnson or engwe malmsten, but he plays with feeling, he has a sound and soul in his playing, that much of the speed and technical guitar players lack of and would kill to have, thats my opinion !

  • @elrabo Duuude Malmsteen is nothing compared to John. I really don't see the fascination with Malmsteen, sure he is a really technical guitarist, but he doesn't play good music. Also as a side note, my old guitar teacher was taught by Malmsteen and gave him one of his guitars.

  • I love seeing a really worn guitar like that from so much use.

  • It's just my opinion but this guy is overrated. There is nothing special about his playing style

  • @Zajcik maybe, but he plays with so much heart and soul that i could cry everytime i hear him. he gives me so much, he attended me in the hardest parts of my life, i owe him a big part of my life course. he´s such an inspiring man.

it´s not his technical skills what´s making the differnce, it´s the emotional connection between his playing and yourself. you have to allow this connection

  • @jonasrhcp1 pusay

  • @jonasrhcp1 thats why he's not overrated, guitar is not just about technical skills, it's about making sounds, thats it. However I would say that John has incredible rhythm, almost on par with Hendrix

  • @jonasrhcp1 True... but eh... I have LOTS of emotion and I have lots of trouble playing this song.

  • @MrJoshgahan think about how many times he's probably played this song up to this point haha :D

  • That s way

  • -sigh- he truly is a god to me :|

  • Sweet, the slow playing helps a lot.

  • Who are the 257 dipshits who disliked this??

  • @natep513 Dave Navarro.

  • are there any tabs for this version he plays?...

    can't barely find it D=

  • @HentaiDono Use your ear's look at his hands

  • I love him! i want to have his kids i don't give a f... lol

  • I am here, crying... Oh my God, I miss him so much!

  • best guitarist on earth... and mars ;-)

  • @KingFrush And Jupiter and Saturn

  • God, he's just too damn amazing.

  • I CAN PLAY THIS WHOLE SONG :D

    OH LOOK THERE'S A FLYING PIG :D

  • Hey! It's crazy old caravan dude from 2012!

  • his right hand actually really freaks me out during the chorus...

  • I WANT JOHN FRUSCIANTE'S FIGURE 6 TAB! IT'S SO DAMN AMAZING!!!!!

  • fig 3 is just fucking beautiful and much more difficult to play than it seems.

  • i want these tabs that he are doing, i don't find it anywhere

  • does he ever fret the A string with his thumb or just E? When he plays the A shaped bar chords is he barring 5 strings with his index finger or just holding down the A string and muting the high E string?

  • @Kzoo7MI I'm not 100% sure what you're asking, but when he plays the chords, what would normally be played as bar chords, he holds down the note on the E string with his thumb, this allows him more freedom to play the weird hammer-ons with his pinky and ring finger, I have no idea how he does those. but the first chord in the verse, I think it's a D major, he plays that as a bar chord, with the first five strings. He doesn't play the E string

  • @procrastinator300 first off thankyou for your response...i'm really not sure what i'm asking either, i've just been trying to learn how to thumb fret recently (i'm pretty proficient at barre chords already using my index finger to barre) i guess my main question is: does he ever use his thumb to fret more than one string?

  • @Kzoo7MI don't think so. he only frets the 6th string (low E string) with his thumb

  • John Frusciante FANTASTIC. BY:BRASIL!

  • Where can I find the exact tablature of this session? Or at least the chords he is using.. Especially regarding the chords used in the verses.

  • @MRdio89

Everywhere on the internet. Specifically at ultimate-guitar com. He plays it exactly like the ProTab sheet music is tabbed out.

  • for me the hardest part of the song is on Fig, 2 and Fig, 3

  • Figure 3 and the end of Figure 5 are positively eargasmic, and those are the hardest parts it sucks, well figure 3 is anyway. I want him to be my teacher. Him or Mike einziger. actually both probably. THis guy is a master of so many styles its awesome.

  • he's playing it wrong

  • @procrastinator300 like sarcastic, or do you really don't now who John Frusciante is? ;0

  • @MultiJuliusAble I was just trolling just to see a reaction. I'm glad to see a reasonable person. yeah I know who he is, he's awesome, such an amazing guitar player. I don't usually idolize people but... I WANNA BE LIKE HIM

  • @procrastinator300 he's John Anthony Motherfucking Frusciante he can play his song however he wants.

  • @RAGEPALMER92 I know I was just trolling, see people's reactions. John Frusciante's one of the best guitarists in the world, the verses on this song are the most beautiful I've ever heard

  • @procrastinator300 pahaha ok alright. Yes he is and yes they are :)

  • @MrJoshgahan this is easy !

it is one of the first songs you learn when taking guitar lessons !

  • @dusted04 If this is one of the first songs you learnt, you didn't learn the full and proper version evidently. This isn't an easy song at all. It's not hard in the same way that metal is, but the different techniques make this song difficult. Did you fingerpick the intro? Add all the hammer ons and pull offs? hahaha. Anyway, with that said, John's a genius.

  • @Myuralz this IS actually the first song i've learned playing guitar, i have never had a guitar teacher but i've been playing for about 5 months now, i watch this video as if its my guitar bible, the techniques that i've learned to play this song really have improved my playing amazingly, learning hendrix chords, slides, hammer ons and pull offs, i've far from perfected it but i can do the first 4 figures pretty well now, havent even bothered with figure 5 yet.. someday tho =)

  • @monkeydragon123 Yer just keep at it. Took me months to get it right. The intros the hardest part if your finger picking. After I had the intro down I was pretty much straight through then.

  • @Myuralz yea i actually dont even play guitar with a pick so the intro was by far easiest for me, figure 3 and the later part of figure 5 tho..... ugh lol

  • @dusted04 I agree with you on your videos though. If you have the money, buy the proper gear. I'm no great guitarist, nice to have good equipment though isn't it! :)

  • he loves that, really

  • i what original tabs!!

  • do you know what kind of pedals and tones does he uses in that funky james brown part?

  • @MrJoshgahan i think i heard him say he played 10-15 hours a day for 5 years thats around 18,000 hours of practice. a swedish scientist found roughtly 10,000 hours makes you "expert" or "elite" so john is essentially double expert n_n

  • iunno why but it bugs me so much when he doesn't do the hammer-on pulloff in the intro lmfaoooo

  • Dando cátedra de guitarra.... que sencillo lo hace ver..

  • does anyone know what peddles/effects/settings he uses, I'm kinda of a noob to guitar equipment

  • @DirtyDerr1ck In this video? Probably just his Strat into whatever amp he's playing with a touch of reverb. Live? Too many to list in a Youtube comment, there's plenty of videos and pictures around the internet that show you his full pedal-board from different periods of his time in the band though.

  • This guys not even good enough to still be in RHCP. This sucks. watch my video

  • @bestdrummerntheworld fuckin lol

  • Does anyone know what is the name of the last music he plays?

  • brad delson is better

  • 240 we meet again

  • guitar name?

  • @netapytojas Fender Stratocaster Sunburst (1962)

  • Got a boner

  • Better than sex

  • god i would give anything if he was my teacher

  • you sexy bastered

  • I want to know what is he using here so bad, such a cool sound

  • and to think john almost died...what a loss that would have been

  • sorry, just made a comment so someone would actually answer me, otherwise, nobody ever answers me!!!!!and by the way, i do like john frusciante!!!!he rocks!!!!

  • Hendrix was a great guitar player in his time only because of the new sound and invention of his wah-wah pedal, but other than that his technique was poor and he was very sloppy. That doesn't mean i dont like him and his music but i find it irrelevant and almost inappropriate to compare him to a player like this, they are both good in their own ways and should not be compared without thorough thought.

  • Is that a Flanger used in the Outro...? I'm searching for that effect...

  • @youakio It's chorus.

  • @falconserek Tks bro.

  • @youakio you're welcome :)

  • @luciesem11 get the fuck out of here with that talk you mother fucker. Why do you need to say that. FUCK OFF! He is jesus christ on the guitar

  • @luciesem11 Don't be silly.

  • if you guys would know why john left you wouldn´t ask him to come back!

  • @jonas9009 why did he ?

  • john please come back to the chilis!! you completed them!!

  • Awesome lesson! And it sounds like someone re-synched the audio to the video so there isn't any more lag. Whoever did it, thanks!

He is the best since Hendrix.

  • i like this guitarist, but i think there are better guitarists such as roland dyens and john williams even though its a different genre.

  • even when he plays it slow I cannot figure out what the hell he does with his fingers to sound that fucking good.

  • GO BACK TO RHCP!

  • It`s impossible not to start singing along while listening.....

  • can someone help me with the chord being played at 2:50? as well as the chord being played at 2:52. other lessons dont seem to use those two chords and i cant seem to get it to sound anywhere near the sound he produces.

  • this is class but its really just based on hendrix playing, still an amazing guitarist to come up with it though

  • @ spruds

it's on the D and G string sliding to the 3rd and 4th frets...i believe lol

  • the beauty of the song comes realy towards you when he plays it slowly note by note..

    best version!

  • What is he doing at that slide at 1:09? As far as I know it's A string and D string fret 5 and 4 sliding to 7 and 6, but his sounds different! Any help?

  • @Spruds lol i just worked it out, the first is basically a D chord and slied up 2 frets for an E.

  • @Spruds

I think it's just a D-shaped cord (semi-barred) with an added note on the D. Try barring the G, B and high E on the 2nd fret, play the D on the B string 3rd fret, and F# on the D string 4th fret. I don't know what strings he's plucking, though. Pretty sure it's the high E, B and D strings (playing the G string with those sounds ok too..at least to my ears).

  • @Spruds When playing the the D chord (in C barre shape) take away your little finger and slide up to an E chord.

  • 3:10 = Electric Eargasm

  • @youakio i think i could live in this accord thingie ..

  • you guitarrists are lucky cuz u can see the best guitarist alive teaching you how to play an awsome song, but im a drummer and i cant see john bonham teaching how to play four sticks.

  • This man is a true musical genius.. Yet can you imagine how much he has suffered... notice the grafts on his right arm...

  • The Three Hendrix's: Jimi, Stevie Ray Vaughn, John Frusciante

  • im lovin the use of the hendrix chords

  • if it werent for this guys guitar riffs i dont think RHCP would be as popular as they are

  • @chinchillawrangler they wouldn't, i noticed every album with John Frusciante is good, every album without is not as good. Flea is a great bassist though

  • @chinchillawrangler Flea & Anthony have both said his melodies and riffs drive the song and they go from there

  • probably there's a lot of people here that don't know anything about playing a guitar, just appreciating john's magic skills.. like me

  • what's the chord in 00:49 and 1:09 ??

  • How can you dislike music of god?

  • thank you jhon. you are my inspiration , now i have a band in your honor

you are one of the best things that happend to my life

  • jhon its one of the best things hapend to the music and to the RHCP

  • so underrated... come on he's the best guitar player since Hendrix

  • @marsdc43 What about Jason Becker?

  • @marsdc43 Totally agreed..

  • @marsdc43 and mark knopfler???????

  • @Gedeone0110 no way men, he's better

  • @marsdc43 knopfler dude.

but if you mean since the 90s yeah John is truth man

  • @marsdc43 mayermayermayer mayer :D just kidding its taste ^^

  • @marsdc43 How could you compare frusciante to Hendrix. Dude you need to learn your history and listen to Redhouse! There will never be a better guitarist or as good as Hendrix. We see how well john did hes not even with them anymore lol. Also FYI The Experienced album is the worlds 4th most selling album of all time still to this day. Nice try to compare but no cigar. Hendirx would be mad at you comparing him to this guy. If it wasn't for Hendirx the band wouldn't even exist.

  • @marsdc43 shut your pie hole boy... don't you know guys like Page, Clapton, Richards, B.B. King and Slash, just look for this guys than you are going to see what is real music...

  • @mauzayat erm..yeah but B.B King,Page,Eric,Richards all all before Hendrix...just an observation

  • @velocet8 ok true but, if you look for top guitar players today you'll see Slash, Jack White and John Mayer wich in my opinion are in the same level as John Frusciante. What I'm saying is that he's an amazing guitar player but I don't think he's like number 2 on the top 10...

  • @marsdc43 he's not underrated, rolling stone put him at like number 15 on their top 100 guitarists' list

  • @procrastinator300 rolling stones list is crap, but he still is underrated

  • its not really a tutorial for me, its just enjoying how the master is playing a master piece

  • 1:45 - 2:10 Love that part!

  • What are the chords he is using?

  • on 10:01 what song is it from? thanks

  • Oh thankss Jesus :$

  • at 3.25 its flanger o chorus effect? thx
