They don't do ads on the BBC. They are tax supported.

VERY long countdown for this era. Didnt even know this version went on for more than 55 seconds on air.

For the cross over, probably it had some breaking news or a live event that took place and coming close to the top of the hr, bbc decided not to show the weather and go straight into the countdown.

I didn't actually record this one myself but judging by the fact that there was an advert right before this countdown, I doubt they left out the weather in favour of adverts. I think the weather was shown unusually early that night thus leaving an unusually long countdown!

It definately wasn't from a cross-over and I don't think the weather was left out. Its just a coincidence.
