  • none of those ideas would work take the fats sim video is base on real live just like watching a movie but it interacts with you it's used to train police officers start there and add to it and you have some thing that could be much more productive

  • thy dont need good graphics, when they smell the smells hear the smells and see the stuff, the go into a flash back and be thier again

  • Not to seem like i'm just picking on them, cause I do think this is an interesting project. I just think its silly to call something a "Simulation" when it doesn't simulate real life visuals even remotely compared to 5 yr old games costing less than $50. They may not be trying to produce exact graphics however in case its too much stress to handle, but thats the only reason I could see for using such a sub-par graphics engine.

  • Stable? I have not had Call of duty 4's graphics engine crash once on me. This is supposed to be the high end of sim tech. Why can they not just use an engine they already own the rights to(America's Army) or something that would produce far more immersive simulated visuals like Cry-engine or COD4's engine. I was in the army, I'm a disabled Vet, I know what kind of 30yr old junk we had to work with, sadly.

  • they should use Call of Duty 4's graphics engine for these tests. I don't understand why even the military's own official game "America's Army"'s graphics engine isn't used. Why are the military always having to work with second rate junk even when the same military makes better itself? Was the same way with equipment when I was in the army. Always the lowest bidder.....grrr....

  • No kidding. Your missing the point. The "Graphics Engine" is only the producer of the visuals that a person sees. The visuals a person sees has a lot to do with the immersion factor of a simulation. Its hard to be immersed in what your looking at when its a low res blob of color, and being immersed is the idea of a simulation, thus the name. Its supposed to "Simulate" real life, but looks nothing even close to the level that normal games can produce.

  • Whats the point of creating a new graphics engine that doesn't even come close to ones already in existence? The rest (smell's etc) could be tacked onto the COD/crysis engine with custom environments if they were any good at programming VR. I didn't say put them in the Game's levels, that would be silly. I'm a disabled vet, and computer expert (10+ yrs tech exp.) This isn't a game, but it doesn't mean you couldn't use a GRAPHICS ENGINE that was used in a game. Please research b4 speaking.

  • If the detail is too high the Soldier will be distracted by the detail. With this cartoonish set of graphics the Soldier can read his own experiences into the game.
