  • Jimi playing a flying Veeeee! And it's still upside-f**king-down...

  • @sven914 he restrung all his guitars fella.

  • @mcleanartists Right, and when he first started out, he played a Gibson V, which didn't come left handed. Hendrix had to make a custom lefty model, which is probably why he re-strung the Fenders, even though there was a left handed option for those.

  • Mono sound :(

  • I want Jimi's guitar in this video sooo bad!!!

  • is it just the mono mix or is it a different mix entirely...drums sound punchier guitar a bit sharper...

    always loved this...thanks fer posting

  • would have been 69 today

  • The fact that its in mono is driving me insane

  • greatest Jimi song ever!! No other song in the world compares to this one

  • @artisticgalacticgyal

"One Rainy Wish" from "Axis Bold as Love" disagrees with you.

  • @irishsetter1972 I agree with u...thats my other favorite song too!! I love all of them.and "Little Wing" too

  • @irishsetter1972 Both are great, and unrecognized at just how great! But I wasn't aware that a Gibson Flying V's wangbar was actually a Vox Wah Wah.

  • @irishsetter1972

burning of midnight lamp was there best song Jimi said....it makes sense when you hear this song on acid...its so intense and beautiful especially the ending

  • i have some music of today

surley we can make our own so i did

  • Wow, jimi has effects built into himself. I wish i could play a wah-wah song without a wah-wah

  • @MrGuitar982 yea that cant be live.

  • @JimmyPage97 .If you want to hear a live and probably the best version of Burning of the midnight lamp you should check out Jimi Hendrix BBC sessions,he also done all sorts of other great songs.

  • @MrNodzilla Yea I have heard that version. And, of course, its freakin excelent. I like hearing Jimi Live on songs like this because of exactly your original point.

  • the morning is dead, too lonely to continue..

  • great the men who breaked the speed of sound

  • BEST SONG EVER

  • best Jimmi song!

  • Didn't have his wah wah pedal, so he pretended the sound came from the wammy bar! Very creative.

  • @GUITARTORCHER actually that part uses both whammy and wah

  • Yes Jimi Hendrix is Daed and Yes he was amazing, but show some respect to the rest of The JH Exp. beacuse they are aslo dead.

  • i can believe some ppl hated this when it came out, fuck the charts

  • now THERE is a man who knew how to dress, that aqua blue velvet suit shows them who defines.

  • the low recording sound quality only lends to the painful loneliness of the song...

  • lol i want a velvet aquablue suit:D

and not saying that it was pointless to make a music video, but were did they show music videos back in the (60's)70's? there wasnt mtv till the 80's!

please respond back and give me a answer thanks:)

  • I was at the Monkees show in summer of 1967. Record books say he he didn't play there but, someone showed up in velvet simulare to this and a slouch hat and played over in the corner of the the stage on the rt as you face it. Can't tell you for sure it was blue or purple. (over 40 years ago!) People started booing him there and he kept playing as the crowd chanted "We want the Monkees!" Concerts were just starting ... we didn't know about the way it evolved into more warm up bands playing!

  • Hendrix with a flying V rare

  • im so lucky to be able to hear this for the first time today ,its just so refreshing my soul feels so clean, thank you jimi it i would have loved to have seen you play in person R.I.P those letters look so dark ,for what they really mean

  • Jimi was the just king of guitar and AWESOME duds!

  • Who are the idiots that dislike this vídeo?

  • @IgorMorais666 dead i killed them

  • @IgorMorais666 haters gotta hate

  • Imagine what he would be like musically if he was still alive today! Gives me chills just the thought of that!

  • I dig the blue threads........

  • u know whats crazy is all of them r gone...R.I.P. fellas

  • ACE, just ACE

  • The British had good soul those years, they adopted the likes of Hendrix and Velvet Underground. I think America didn't made Hendrix famous, but Britain...Velvet influenced more to popular UK artists than US.

  • Where's the sound!??

  • Who was that at the beginning? That was beautiful even though it was so short. Tritones :D

  • the loneliness is such a draggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg,,,,,,,

  • oh...

    faces lonely towards the door."

  • This was the B-side of The Stars That Play with Laughing Sam's Dice

    Imagine having that 45?

  • @mjazzguitar I own a copy :)

I own a few original Hendrix 7" singles...

btw, The Stars That Play With LSD was the b-side, not the other way round.

  • This needs to have millions of views.

  • Handsome fellow that Jimi.

He was a genius, pure and simply put.

  • Me and my band have done a cover of purple haze by Jimi Hendrix. Have a listen, its on my channel :D Pleasee........

  • He looks like he would stink and have bad breath and be strung out.I guess addict's are the coolest.

  • magical.

  • @nsquare2 He was and he still is.

The most creative person ever.. The best guitarist.

His voice is so amazing, I've never heard anyone sing like that.

So he is the best in many ways.

  • played on my birth day

  • That intro comes to my head everyday. I guess I'm addicted.

  • I heard somewhere that he tried drugs.

  • r.i.p jimi hendrix experience

  • wwhaat henndrix with a fflying v

  • RIP Jimi, Noel and Mitch

  • @saanzacs Noel and Mitch aren't dead, are they?

  • @Badeend94 Yes, unfortunately, they are, Noel died in 2003 and Mitch died in 2008

  • @saanzacs That's too bad.

  • It is from this day forth my obsession to one day own a crush velvet aqua blue suit like that. Not only was Jimi a god on guitar he was also the most stylin motherfuckin mod ever. Long Live the KING!

  • @walterroy Hendrix was not a mod. He invented his own style.

  • Wow. I've never seen this before. I thought I had seen every Hendrix video there is to see.

  • @kountzer Have you seen the video of him playing with the Isley Brothers. You could tell in that video that he was destined for better things.

  • the smiling portrait of you,

still hangin on my frowning wall,

it doesnt bother me to much at all,

its just...the ever falling dust, that makes it so hard for me to see.

    what can i say? amazing

  • was this the first music video?

  • Great song! if anyone has time, please check my channell, thanks.

    Luka

  • he is my fuckin god

  • how did he get that jangle tone in the background?

  • That jangle tone is harpsicord ora Hammond organ on a harpsicord setting.

  • love this song but the drummer def doesnt look like he's playing lls.

  • Great song.....trying to keep a straight face, must be hard to stand there and mime. Hey what happened to the solo at 2.12?

  • Jimi Hendrix a genius in music and in threads!!!!!!!!

  • R.I.P Jimi Hendrix experience,

See you at the pearly gates!

  • This is the only time ive seen him use the v live. Cool. Great song too.

  • live?:p

  • the Isle of White performance he uses it

  • He didnt use this Flying V at the Isle of Wight. This is his V he painted. He used his cutom left-handed Flying V for gigs like Isle of Wight, Maui and other 1970 gigs.

  • no he did not!

  • wow that is probebly the best lookin' flying V i ever saw!!

  • Lonelyness is such a...drag.

    Priceless!

  • one of my favorites by jimi

  • Jimi Hendrix is so awesome, he doesnt even have to plug in his guitar

    R.I.P.

  • @SilverSkyline92 Yea, but The Turtels band can play music without playing any instruments or moving their lips. Can Jimi do that?

  • Hendrix is amazing. But i must say, Noel and Mitch are possibly the two most underrated musicians of all time. Strong, solid, kickass rhythm session. RIP the Experience.

  • they skipped the solo

  • is this the video or live?

  • i think that is the video..

  • Yeah The Flying V is not plugged!

  • it is look closely at 2:17

  • no wires

  • this is a t.v. show the Experience lip-sync`ed on,

  • Thank You !!!

  • Fuck I love this man sooooo much!

  • but that's what they all do when they're shooting a video for a song that's out on album

  • I couldn't agree any more with you, a true legend he was, and still is

  • this song is fuckin brilliant

  • alike mayall he was just to cool to get into the whole pretending to play thing of music videos it seems

  • It is so funny that sting lifted the "So lonely" line towards the end of this brilliant tune. (3:33)

  • Did he paint that, like in Monterey?

  • Jimi is sexy!!

  • poeple have to take into account not only how jimi played the blues but also how he added other styles into his music e.g. spanish, indian and many others. i mean just listen to the woodstock imrovisation

  • so true. That improv at woodstock was amazing.

  • How could they just cut out the solo like that????

  • saxophonist is the great marion brown, a protege of coltranes. why he's on this is vid is a bit odd but hey so is this loopy clip

  • and the solo?

  • no solo??? =[

  • whats with the sax????

  • that's some old material but it's damn good. Hendrix was in my opinion the greatest and most original guitarist ever :) most people will agree with me i think

  • @nsquare2 You bet your ass we will!!! Hendrix Forever!

  • @nsquare2 jimi page.

  • @nsquare2 You know I have your back 110%

  • Comment removed

  • @nsquare2 Andre' Segovia makes Hendrix look like a kid and if Hendrix was alive he'd agree.

  • @lordanstanley :"That were we do our biggest mistakes when we put our ego against someone else. It's like B.B King and Segovia, They are both masters, both kings." -Jimi Hendrix-

You're an idiot. You obviously have not listened to all of Hendrix's work. What matters is what is in the heart. Andre' Segovia was a good guitarist and I'll tell you what, if you don't play from the heart, if the musical instrument is not an extension of your being, I don't care what you do, it's all WORTHLESS.

Listening this song I have felt the hand of god touching me.

    Wonderfull song.

    Forever.

  • this song is the best hendrix song, the intro is easy to play and the verse but im still trying 2 figure out the chorus

  • this song is sick can some one please make a vid of some guy teaching it =)

  • It's amazing all this footage still exists.

  • the saxophone intro iz free jazz musician marion brown, 1960s.

  • good to see. but music videos back then were boring. and they cut the solo out. I feel bad for jimi when I watch this. I love how Mitch Mitchell is doing air drums in the background towards the end. hes pretty good at it too. I like Hendrix's expression at 2:43 there is something real there. God Bless St. james

  • I love this song this song makes you feel high after a while

  • Great foottage. I like his suit too.A shot with this suit was also used on a Jimi book, dutch.

  • I have never seen this one by Jimi before! It's cool fam!

  • jimi had a hard time doing the lipsync crap, but he at least he could use the money for his artistic explorations...

  • i love this song its one of my favorites that flying v is beautiful

  • what a beautiful gee-tar(aesthetically)

  • i luv this song, i can really relate to it and its so well put together with jimi's use of the harpsichord xept for the solo getting cut out of this version. to be honest thou, noel redding didnt look that happy making this video thou until a little over halfway thru when he got into it a little
