Typicall responce from a yank..fine tatomuck18.. stay with ur inches, pounds and gallons. If you wanna measure things the way they did in the dark ages then go ahead. The longer you yanks stick to outdated practices, the further the rest of the world can get ahead of you.
In 1992, my weight went metric. In 1983, my body measurements went metric. I figured out the metric system in 1975. I was only 8 years old then. Very unusual for an American, a nationality noted for lazy minds. U.S. schools have changed very little since the Industrial Revolution, work schedules left over from factories, traffic control from the 1920's and 1930's, and many other outdated practices have crippled the US economy.
I don't see why the standard system has lasted so long. How conversions of units(miles to feet to inches) work is just ridiculous. At least the metric is more logical for just basic calculations. Someday everyone will use it.
Poor old Yanks..guess they'll wait til their MANNED Mars mission crashes into the surface in front of the entire planet before they realise they need to join the rest of the world in metric!
yes... but... after the Mars incident, NASA has now gone completely metric. Joined the real world at last instead... and maybe thinking again about forcing its own imperial(ist) crap, unwelcomed, on others. Hopefully one day they'll move away from being a hermit kingdom of delusion. sad!
Dude, I always thought the metric system was so easy to follow. Thank you for bringing it into the mainstream for simple Americans to understand as well. Keep up the good work bro. Go Aussies!!!!!!
If you cannot figure out the conversions and are making that type of mistake because of the difference your not a smart person. .6 mile = 1 km, 1kg = 2.25 lbs. This is not rocket science here. All you show in your video is how your lack of knowledge makes you look foolish.
"Lb" stands for libra the basic unit of Roman weight.
"Oz" stands for Italian onza, ounce. Ounce comes from the Latin uncia which is also the source for the term "inch"
Pound derives from the Latin pondo, "by weight"
Why take an abbreviation from a different world? We don't know except "Pd" is already used meaning "Per day"

@Maserati777 "Oncie", not "Ounce"

What's the relationship between an inch and a gallon? Or even better inch to pound.
WilltheAtheist 3 years ago
A gallon is two hundred and thirty-one cubic inches. And no, I did not use the internet for that. I just happen to know it.
The pound is roughly the weight of 16 fluid ounces, ergo approximately one eighth of 231 cubic inches of water at some 62 degrees Fahrenheit.

Quick! how many eights in a mile. How many Tory ounces in an ounce? How many hogshead in a barrel?

@Aleowiciuos : you asked:
"How many Tory ounces in an ounce?"
Avoirdupois ounce, U.S. fluid ounce, or Imperial fluid ounce?

Your comment is giving me a headache. Perhaps this 5 grain aspirin will help.
Hold on, what did that label say? Grains? I'm pretty sure a scientist invented aspirin

You might consider being more careful about your criticism.
"the difference your not a smart person"
the difference between "your" versus "you're" ...
