I've noticed that when a person's words and actions don't agree, their mouth is lying. Everytime. I usually write off any attempts at meaningful conversation with such people.

Yeah, but what if the person you're being direct with is an asshole, and he still becomes defensive like, let's say......your BOSS! Mature communication is still like playing Russian Roulette. There are no guarantees in life. And in this fucked up economy, it's friggin' suicide to be even calmly assertive and/or direct with your boss. Yeah, try payin' your fuckin rent after the asshole fires you, and you have to work at kmart to make a living. There are no easy answers. Life is hard!
