  • i've ever listened to this more than 14 times in a day! fantastic!!!

  • Sounds like the hangover effects of a certain chemical...

  • My teacher played this today at gym class. Nobody else knew the song. He just earned so much respect from me. :P

  • @BreezoX I didn't think such epic Gym teachers existed o_o

  • @Unsanity94 Me neither. :P

  • Who is alberto balsalm ?

  • @00Morton00 It's a (British, I think) shampoo brand that isn't really advertised anywhere and randomly appears in shops. It's usually apple, raspberry and blueberry and smells either really good or a bit like kitchen cleaner or flavoured gel pens. The snipping sounds in this record makes me wonder if James made this song about the hairdressers. His songs are timeless/expansive/modern but I get lully bits of British nostalgia from them too... I want to fuck him.

  • @venusathene lol

  • Can someone recommend other AT songs similar to this one?

  • @underaserpentsun try Flim

  • @underaserpentsun AT? Don't you mean AFX?

  • @CSSFenken AT = Aphex Twin

  • @BreezoX AFX = Aphex Twin

  • @CSSFenken He asked if there were other Aphex Twin songs like this. AFX is another name Richard uses, but he was refering to the Aphex Twin stuff, not AFX. Although I suppose he would like that as well.

  • I have 109 so get more

  • hahahah is this song about haircuts? I love him.

  • This is what my face looks like when i pick up a girl.

  • Always brings an image of some lonely pub on the coast with vintage wallpaper, plants and oil lanterns in it.

  • if i see one more "Skrillex sent me here.." i swear to god....

  • Listening to this I feel like walking through a big yellow and green grassy meadow feeling the dew on my fingers and the wind in my face, as the sun rises. after staying up all night at a big rave

  • for whatever reason beyond anything i could imagine, i always play this song while having a round or two of mahjong on the computer

  • 69.79% likes.

  • @SailfishSoundSystem oh look AT ME I'VE DONE THE MATHS...PRICK

  • @Pandy187 Have you always been this retarded or is this a new thing for you? Maybe if you knew how to do math it wouldn't bother you so much fucktard.

  • @SailfishSoundSystem It's called maths, not math.

  • Fenix synthesizer.

  • I care Because You Do. Great Album

  • I don't know what it is about Aphex Twin but his tracks are so simple yet have an amazing power over you that puts you in another world, a new state of mind

  • @RYNO2511 simple isnt the appropriate word

  • @FloydTheBarbara says you

  • @RYNO2511 oh

  • @RYNO2511 totally agree. BOC do exactly the same to me aswell. Although I certainly wouldn't call this simple, but I get what you mean. Compared to the more faster drum n bass / acid tracks it can come across as simple. But it's these 'slower' tracks that always affect me on a much deeper level.

  • What other songs of his are similar to this? Any reccomendations?

  • @crinchyman try and listen to all of them, they are masterpieces, and then u will find ur favorites like me :)

  • i used to robo trip and listen to this. I even cried once.

  • this song sounds like it should of been on the orignal spyro games for ps1 or minecraft

  • i discovered that this morning, and guess what? itunes registered already 26 plays

  • Clearly one of my favourite from AFX

  • this song sounds so "springly" to me )

  • Love this track!!! ads sue Aphex es de verdad un exelente músico! gracias por postearlo! ;)

  • in my top 10 favourite afx tunes

    !

  • this is sicckcck yayayayyayaajdklfa;sdfjk

  • One word, Genius.

  • Its like this song is addictive

  • @crinchyman Good music often is. :)

  • The rhythm section, if you can call it that, seems to be made up of sounds you might hear when washing and cutting hair: scissors, bathroom radiator, chair scuffing. And of course Alberto Balsam is a kind of shampoo. It's a really creative and hypnotic piece of work and Richard D. James is way under-appreciated.

  • Fuck I've listened to this 14 times in two days

  • @Ralphonsinator thats nothing man, ive listen to this about 3 hours every day, 1 week :D

  • @Ralphonsinator bitch please... my itunes says "played 1417"

  • @Ralphonsinator Only 14 times ?

  • @Ralphonsinator in one week this track get on the top of my 25 most listen track-list on iTunes

  • he looks like his music if that makes sense

  • In fact its an ammunitionbox, he said in an intwerview.

  • I can still remember the first time I heard this song. When it ended, I was in tears, and had no clue why! And then I was hooked on Aphex Twin right away.

  • Im curious as to how he makes his synths. That and the algorithm based beat making program he uses. Wish I could get ahold of that...

  • @abandonallyourhope You can have all the equipment you want, but making music like this actually requires massive talent.

  • @workatthefarm hes talking about the process of making the actual sound, not the composition

  • @gravelgravel2 Pointless to acquire instruments/equipment when you lack talent.

  • @workatthefarm how do you know he lacks talent?

  • @gravelgravel2 Because 99% of anyone affiliated with any form of hobby such as music in this case, LACKS talent.

  • @workatthefarm do you actually believe what you say? a dumb farm boy with a severe mental disability is what you sound like

  • @barkape It's the truth you infantile piss. Not everyone has talent, it is extremely rare.

  • @workatthefarm infantile piss... hm... ive been exposed to plenty of talent throughout my life and pity you for your sad life situation. maybe its lacking in the backwoods of mississippi where u and ur monkey family grew up

  • @barkape I come from Dundee, Scotland and I live in Forfar.

  • @workatthefarm yeah scotland sucks man. come to america if you want to see some talent

  • @barkape Scotland has given birth to the most prolific inventors of our time, including musicians. There isn't a single trace of talent in America. Your culture is shite, your architecture is piss and your history is bland and young.

  • @workatthefarm Jesus Christ, what did an American guy fuck your mum? If you really think that, I feel sorry for you and your tiny, narrow Scottish brain.

  • @abusivemomba My mum fucked a Scottish man in order to give birth to me, my 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Not an American, there's barely any Americans in Scotland, however, there's a lot of Scottish lads in the US, you know, spreading their wild genes.

  • @workatthefarm Scotland will never matter on a global scale, despite what they may have contributed in the past. All of the decent remaining Scottish did the only logical thing and assimilated into American society.

  • @KingDi4mond They will continue to matter whether you like it or not. 5 million and such prolific and cultured people are rare in this world. What are you talking about? What "remaining" Scottish? The Scottish didn't live in America to start with, they emigrated there because of the Highland potato famine and interests of the Scottish within the British Empire.

STILL, the most stubborn and prideful Scots remained. Which happened to be a majority of the population, unlike Ireland

  • @workatthefarm I guess you haven't picked up on why so many people are leaving Scotland and going to the US. Probably for the shite culture, piss architecture and bland history, right? Sounds right.

  • @abusivemomba Absolutely not. They left mainly because of British Empire interests, political gain in the New World and the Highland potato famine. Scottish culture is nowhere shite, Scottish architecture is finer than any architecture in the Americas and our history is colourful. I just made my point on how there isn't a single yankee scoring in Scotland concerning women, but the other way around, as has been since the 17th century.

  • @abusivemomba Stop your goddamn arguing and enjoy the music. I am from America, he's from Scotland, you're from wherever the hell you're from. We're all brought together by the love of music. So essentially, we're all not that different. You might as well be a "pig american" you all stereotype us all as. Or a sheepfucking scot (I apologize if my name offends.)

  • @workatthefarm What I heard was so fantastic that my mind rejected it because of its absurdity. Are you saying that art is bad? Music in any form is one of the few meaningful accomplishments of the human race.

  • @theinvisbleguy I said that talent is rare you mong.

  • @ganjacide: this is also one of my favourite songs by Aphex Twin. This 'haunting sound' you speak of is what makes it so special. Great song!

@slenski: do you know Biosphere? Those 'soundscapes' always bring me in a melancholic mood.

  • Bubbly, bubbly, bubbly, bubbly.

  • The smell of a certain shampoo reminds me of my ex-girlfriend, don't know if it's anything like that.

  • Almost has*

  • This song almost have a demented romantic feel to it

  • Comment removed

  • Does anybody else get in this weird, deep mood when listening to Aphex Twin?

  • @slenski yup

  • @slenski oh ya man. hell ya.

  • @slenski aphex twin has does kind of tracks of weird mooding... like Penty Harmonium

  • @slenski So do I. Its amazing xD

  • @slenski Yeah almost like a trance and feel a range of strange emotions. Thinks its due to the subtle intrumental build ups within the song toying with your head and getting your thinking almost like a good painting does. Is it a sad, happy, lonely, exciting song? I just dont know, all I know is it feels amazing and the feelings of shivers going over on the melody feels good. You cant get better than Aphex Twin, truly a real artist !

  • @slenski definitely

  • @slenski Definetly moody music. great music

  • true. you can name the songs whatever you want. but i think the name fits this because a lot of the Alberto Balsam shampoos have a tropical theme... don't you hear this music when you wash your hair under a water fall? You know... turning your head side to side slowly as the water beats down on your head stinking of fragrant pear mango.

  • fapfapfapfapfapfap..

  • electronic music is cool because you can name it absolutely anything

  • Im sitting here thinking about how I like the album title "I care because you do" but Im just curious if it has the same meaning he was thinking of

  • @heartpeep what it means to me I mean

  • @heartpeep I bought this album when it came out. And I totally understand exactly what he means by "I only care because you do" ...... I usually only care when someone else does. Other than that, life can be kind of bland...... banal .... I'll quote a movie .... "some part of the world still cares what color the drapes are"

  • Titles are meaningless. Insinuations of what's to come. They never quantify the value of art appropriately. In all honesty, though, you can't really label music, now can you? R.D. James was always deep when it came to his music.

  • The beat in the beginning sounds like someones moving a chair across a metal floor as he's tapping pipes with a pen

  • fantastic tune!

  • OMG ITS SO.....so......calming.....yeah....:)

  • alper toparsal

  • This is one of the best music pieces ever made.

  • @Stackondat Like the state puff marshmellow man

  • wat the hell is this

  • @djroxursox1 It's good music.

  • I know nothing of Aphex Twin except for he apparently has a thing for faces.

  • @Firefox7fromroblox Aphex Twin has a thing for incredible music

  • @Firefox7fromroblox that's his own face lmfao.

  • @Firefox7fromroblox who doesn't?

  • damn right.

  • I love you.

  • it dont matter what its named after just what it sounds like, and this is one of the best tracks he ver produced !!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • imagine, in slow motion, a hutu and a tutsi smashing each others faces in with korgi keyboards

the forces of relativity, deluxe style!

  • Aphex has been out playing the dustbins and fences again.

  • awesome song here wow cool

  • @samkara345 that comment is dead just gtfo

  • @ObsidianCrafta I liek your username :3

  • I love this track, it the skidding chair that does it :)

  • @richardsweb I thought it was a door scraping?

  • @richardsweb I always thought that was the sound of a dying baby dinosaur

  • @richardsweb brilliant

  • ...I don't understand how someone couldn't like this...I mean...wutt?

    -_____-

  • When I hear this song (especially at 3:27), I think of 2 figures in some dark, cramped storage space, banging on air vents and pipes to make music. Both of them have this expression the whole time. Kinda creepy... :\

  • This song reminds me of reposition my furniture.

  • This song makes me feel like I'm in an ice cave...and that's a wonderful feeling.

  • One of the greatest songs ever. It's just so perfect.

  • incredible

  • perfect hot shower track

  • @1111paradoxlost1111 Bah, I didn't mean to measure it in length of time one listened to. People call me a hipster for listening to it period.

  • @1111paradoxlost1111 You say that, yet I'm called a hipster for listening to Aphex Twin.

  • still asking myself why one of his best songs is named after a shampoo.

  • @MrMushroom123 It's Aphex Twin, dude. Questionability is what he's all about.

  • @MrMushroom123 Because he's Richard motherfucking James, that's why.

  • @TheEnchantingWizard1 Damn right!

  • @MrMushroom123 why not?

  • @MrMushroom123: Maybe it's not.

Maybe Alberto Basalm's mother, having a prophetic vision that this song would one day be made, named her son after it.

  • @MrMushroom123 because he didn't give a shit about names.

  • @MrMushroom123 its beautiful if you make an effort

  • @MrMushroom123 maybe he likes this shampoo

  • I swear I heard this on Adult Swim.

  • Comment removed

  • adult swim? what?

  • my shampoo is called alberto balsam

  • 45 rpm is better suited for this track.

  • wow <3 genius

  • The guy is a fucking genius! He does keep his fans waiting though, but his new album/s are worth the wait I guess.

  • Wow. Just an incredible song :)

  • that a typemachine sound :D

    shit... im getting old :D

  • is that a chair sound???

  • @scillac could very well be just that with Aphex Twin.

  • @scillac no its an ammunition box sound

  • One of my favourite songs ever.

    True definition of genius.

  • @t3hjak3 , In my top ten too , totally brilliant...

  • @t3hjak3 Damn right!
