  • OMG!!

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  • Apparently it still drove after this.

  • Why crash test it? If you crash at 240 mph, you won't survive anyways.

  • @GunsOfThePhoenix Thats the most stupid thing ive ever heard.... When they crash it at lower speeds its easier tto see what or where they need to improve for example, dont be such a retard.

  • Mr bean crash his baby again

  • Why was this car even crash tested in the first place?

  • @EthanJM People don't get it. Cars are required to be crash tested to meet certain safety and crash laws. Otherwise it is not street legal. The reason why the Porsche 959 was "illegal" in the US was because Porsche refused the crash test an "US spec" version.

  • @Skyline123159 Well, it is stupid. Honestly, as long as cars are not going to directly harm other people for some unsafe reason, it should be up to the driver of the car how safe or unsafe the car they are willing to drive is. Especially when you take supercars into account, they are engineering marvels, they are best at what they were made for, and that is speed. They are speed machines, not baby tanks.

  • Held up surprisingly well...

  • They should make one where its going 110mph and hits the wall. 35mph weak.

  • According to the book it was still perfectly drivable, only illegal as the headlights had popped out.

  • you shud have gave it to me >:(

  • It looks safe!

  • A sad day...

  • My eyes..

  • bye bye $3.000.000 :'(

  • I almolst wanna cry

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

  • Actually, this test was done at 95mph, proving irrefutably that the Maclaren F1 is, in fact, the safest car in the world. Didn't expect that, did you?

  • speed??

  • Try this at 100 mph !

  • even crashed its still probably worth more than my house

  • This test was at the standard 40mph. It is said that this is the only car which was able to drive away after the test was over!

  • i would personally like to crash test that car for you knowing that i got to sit in one :P

  • I read somewhere that the new McLaren, the MP4 12C, had to do three crash tests, and that the carbon tub was so strong they ended up using the same one for all three.

  • give me the engine ill trade my girlfriend for that engine

  • @JohnTroy1425 A girlfriend? Hell I'd give up a testicle for that! lol

  • made me cry :(

  • if i have this car and crash i dont wana live anymore!! :(

  • There goes 1 of the 100 McLarens produced :(

  • @EricKZhang I think it's just a prototype man, they aren't THAT heartless to put such a godly machine to waste =D

  • @AceHalford thast richt it is prototype p#3 out of 5

  • @EricKZhang and another 2 from Mr.Bean:(

  • @EricKZhang this is probably not one of the 100, and probably is only a dummy shell with fake parts being powered along to crash

  • Rolf i survived

    hit the break man !!

  • Rolf i survived

  • The text says this is the only car ever that could drive after the test. :)

  • @Iceeeen Well, Thats cause the engine is in the back.

  • All cars have to undergo these tests no matter how expensive or exotic!! The amazing thing with the strength of the F1 is that the windshield never even broke

  • Fuck what a waste of good McLaren. They should've given it to me instead of just crash it >_>

  • :'( NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I could've had that instead of ruining it :'(

    aklsjdalksjdasd.

  • Why are people getting upset? Obviously, that's not a complete F1.

  • whats the fucking point in this?

  • @DontHaveUsername1997 It's just fun watching car's worth more than we will ever have being crashed.

  • the dash board didnt even quiver

  • no airbag? :D

  • @einstein69tr TVR's have never had airbags

  • what a waste

  • wow that was gooing like 20 miles an hour lol

  • not bad i think it did good for wat it is

  • siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • crashing a 1,000 Used Honda civics = Crashing 1 mclaren f1

  • Was rebuilt and sold correct?

  • @EJ25RUN

    was driven off and repaired

this car actually can be driven after it crashed test at 50mph.

look, the wheel arches are even intact!

  • love4wheels [dot] com if you like cars, this is THE forum!!

  • they only crashed it at 30mph ish, what person that drives an f1 is going to crash at 30mph? they may crash but it wont be anywhere near 30mph

  • This car would have been a lot cooler if Honda built the motor

  • @sohcsarewicked LOL! oh you were serious....

  • @DBDMotorsports well maybe you should do some research smartie pants because they asked Honda to build the motor first.

  • @sohcsarewicked maybe you should have done some research and seen that honda would have put some turbo charged v6 with fatty pipes, effectively killing the mclaren legendary stature

  • No what the hell you should of gave that to me =(

  • They could have hired a pchycic to declare if the car was safe!

  • @ViperSRTnACR lmao

  • This video is dedicated to Rowan Atkinson

  • i dunno why everyone is bitching and getting upset, its a NCT crash test it has to be done to see how safe the car is.

  • This isn't neccessarily an "official" test, it could of been park of development. The F1 was designed to be capable of passing and/or exceeding the crash test requirements of a then (mid-90's) Formula 1 car, an ncap test is nothing when compared to that. I remember reading somewhere (i think it was in autocar magazine) that the F1 came away from the 30mph head-on test with barely a cracked bumper, was still driveable, and the tub was undamaged. It's price was £640000.

  • der arme man der das auto zahlen musste <.<

  • AEEEIII! MY EYES, IT BURNS, IT BURNS!

  • this is liek a millino dollar test

  • Way for them to waste a 2 million dollar car.

  • @GunsOfThePhoenix

    they could afford it

they needed to in order to make it roadlegal AND prove it was safe too

the manafacturing cost of one test car wasn't 2 million

  • @McLarenMercedes Today it cost 2 million for a used one, back then it cost half million for a new one.

  • NO TEST DUMMY? NO AIRBAG? This test is basically useless without a $50,000 test dummy wired with sensors and impact data. This car doesnt even appear to have seats or an interior. Whats that on the dash? Cardboard and plastic bags covering those big holes on the right and left of the car? There should be a dashboard there. I DOUBT this car even has an ENGINE in it. Again, this test is useless without a fully built car AND a test dummy.

  • There's just the steering wheel of the car that shakes a bit...

    +1

  • segurança 0.

  • WOA!! This hurts

  • i can't believe they wasted one precious example of the worlds best car.

  • @jebacjutube

I can't believe you posted such a stupid post.

Any new car MUST pass certain crash standards. This test in fact PROVED it was a lot safer than any other supercar back then. The carbon fibre monocoque was incredibly solid and strong.

  • @jebacjutube It wasn't a production car, this specific car was built before they started the production for these cars. It's like a test mule, but for safety. Plus, its just a car, regardless of how good or rare it is. Damn, people are lost without material goods....

  • wow, it really holds up well with no cabin intrusion at all.

  • this is a nightmare! not a video!! :'O

  • @McLarenMercedes baah.

  • you must be incredibly stupid not to realize this is slow motion

or you're a troll acting dumb on purpose to piss people off

    either way you're useless

  • Gordon Murray said the McLaren still worked and could be driven after this crash

only car ever at that time to have done that after a crash test

  • from front, F1 is waaaay more tough than a 5-star crash rated car... I mean that thing is made from carbon fiber

  • it was like watching joe theismann's leg break over and over and over again. The most painful thing i had to watch today.

  • omg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how fast was it going, 30mph?

  • @MikeTysonisaspider lol for sure, seems too slow

  • ever heard of highspeed cameras? later when they watch the crash it seems like the car is going 10-20 times slower

    the ignorance of some

  • you'd better be joking

    it's not funny

  • Shame to see this beauty crashed:(

  • Who cares if the McLaren F1 is safe or not!!?? If you want a safe car, get a volvo!!

  • the safety of Volvo is a MYTH embedded into the minds of people through Volvo's commercials

look up the EuroNCAP crash tests and realize lots of manafacturers from all over the world did better in those tests than the Volvo models

only with the new XC60 did Volvo really excel

  • @Mazotheman Renault > Volvo, in security, check euroncap, renault has more 5 star cars than volvo in the past decade

  • @Yoaltecuhtli Yes, but Renault has manufactured more car models than Volvo, so what you need to do, is to compare average rating. Volvo = 4,6 and Renault =4,4.

  • @Mazotheman maybe the peron wanting the car is not an idiot and dont want to end up being part of his car when it a simple crash at 40mph?

  • @Mazotheman

If you want a triple threat, GET A MCLAREN!

  • @Mazotheman no if you want a safe car get the smart car

  • @ChevyZ71djd

NOT... Yeah the car might hold up but good luck surviving inside of it since there is such a small crumple zone..

  • @ofnarcr have u seen the video!! it got a high rating

  • @ChevyZ71djd You mean the one where the dummy smacks its face on the steering wheel?:P I just thought it was an odd example since there are loads of other cars that are so much more safe haha.

  • @Mazotheman

Considering the owners of a F1 are going to drive it to insane speeds I think they'd be happy knowing they sit in a car which won't desintigrate into a thousand pieces if they crash with it. Fact is one BMW Company Exective crashed one doing over330km/h on the German Autobahn. He was fine. A testimony to the safety of the car.

And Volvo doesn't make the safest cars. That's something their commercials have brainwashed people into thinking. Some years back several beat them in crash

  • @Mazotheman WELL I THINK ANYBODY WHO CAN AFFORD SUCH A CAR HAS THE RIGHT TO BE CONCEARNED ABOUT THIS CAR'S SAFETY..(THINK ALSO THAT THIS CAR HAS MUCH GREATER ACCELERATION AND TOP SPEED THAN A VOLVO..)AND IT'S INCREDIBLY SAFE AS YOU WATCHED...THE GUY WHO CAN AFFORD A VOLVO WILL CONCEARN ABOUT VOLVO'S SAFETY.SO BOTH HAVE THE RIGHT TO WORRY ABOUT THEIR CAR'S SAFETY..

  • What a cryin' shame, I could have driven that car.

  • as if you'd crash it that slow. lol

  • @owengoslin101 its in slowmotion

  • @owengoslin101

you think that is normal speed

Geez, some people...have they EVER heard of slowmotion used to study crash tests?

And if you knew it was slow downed and tried to be funny. Stupidity is never funny. Stupid people end up causing a lot of shit.

  • @McLarenMercedes do you think even when it wasn't slowed down any one would crash it that slow

  • @McLarenMercedes theres something called sarcasm. Leave your house more and talk to people.

  • @owengoslin101

Probably being played in slow motion.

  • wow dumbass its slow motion

  • wow the comments are funny.. apprently, just an observation, people that look up exotic car crashes arent very smart...

  • FAIL. The slowest a crash test will be performed in a head on crash is 40mph.

  • wow your a dumbass

  • I'm a dumbass??? Never heard of NCAP crash assessment programme??? You fail again American.

  • No it isn't. It is filmed with a high speed camera so when it is played back you see it in slow motion.

  • at the moment of the crash you would drive around 120-200kph so you would probably not survive

  • UBERKRASS!

  • i wish it said how fast i was going lol! man thats an expensive crash test lol

  • 35 to 40 Mph based on most european and american streets (not highway speed tho)

  • They say, the designer of the Mclaren F1 was so possitive of how well the F1 would cope in a head on collision, he wanted to sit in the drivers seat during the collison, but Mira/EuroNCAP wouldn't let him, for Health and Safety reasons. He was right about the outcome.

  • NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

  • lmao

  • the only thing with carbon fiber it would be like coming to a dead stop at what ever mpg you are traveling, the same as hitting a tree, i cant see it absorbing much of the impact

  • The frame is carbon fiber, just the body.

  • isnt*

  • Thats actually true, but that is also why they design the carbon fiber and other parts to shatter and splinter away. Since it doesn't crumple up like sheet metal, the shattering and splintering dissipates the energy of the crash. If you look at an F1 or Indy car crash you'll see that they look like they burst into a million pieces; its because thats what they're designed to do... all of those pieces flying off pull energy out of the crash and protect the driver.

  • RIght I guess the flying shards are a problem, but I think that impact trauma is a bigger concern since even in a crash you're still inside the car and protected. I dont think the shards would have enough individual energy to penetrate the windshield.

As for this test, it doesn't look to be very high speed, which probably has something to do with it. But watch some high speed crashes of race cars and you'll see. Carbon fiber is very strong but when it finally breaks it does so very violently.

  • ITS SLOW MOTION wow so much dumbasses in 1 video

  • What are you talking about? Everyone knows its slow motion. When I say that it's not a high speed test, I mean over 100mph or so, which is usually what you see in F1 or Indy crashes when they break apart.

Also, you should learn proper grammar before you call people 'dumbasses'.

  • wow are you an idiot by any chance?

  • To expect a 100mph crash test on a road car is pretty dumb. You don't honestly believe anyone to survive that w/o a crash helmet do you?

  • Where did I say I expected a 100mph crash test?

  • This does not look like a high speed impact, wonder what speed they tested it at?

  • They call that slow-motion ;-)

    I think it's 50-80 km/h (or around 30-50 mph)

  • THEY FORGOT TO PUT THE AIRBAGS

  • I think they test it if its good eough without airbag?

  • the subtitles say that this is the only car that you could drive after a crash test

  • I'm sure quite few cars can do that. Probably most of the cars that have the engine in the back.

  • well.. if and only if the front tires still able to move

  • No. Most cars would not have working front wheels after a crash, due to the impact damage. Hence, unable to drive away.

  • wow, next time im in a mclaren, i wil know if i crash, the owner will be the one to kill me, not the car

  • nice one!

  • Lollll

  • Is unsurprising it did so well. To make a car handle good, it needs to be strong. to be safe, it needs to be...

    strong.

  • makes me sick to my stomache.

  • what a car, the windsheld didnt even break!

  • I bet the scraps of that car cost more than my car. :D

  • @VoltexEvo8MR Psh, I bet the scraps cost more than my House. :P

  • @VoltexEvo8MR To be fair, i bet the fucking timing belt cost more than most people's cars :D

  • it's a shame to wreck such a beauty:)

  • it came out in 1996, they didn't have the virtual crash test stuff back then

  • Wow. thats actually a really good standing.

  • barely even flexed! very very impressive

  • the car was probably a shell, not a full mclaren in blue paint lol. the windshield didn't even break.. ?wow

  • Weight and mass matter in a car crash, so it was the real thing. It's possible that they used ballast as a substitute for the expensive innards, though.

  • OH GOD NO! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?! haha.

  • to see if u would live or die if u had the car and got into a car accident?? LOL

  • With most modern hyper cars they can work out roughly how well they're gonna perform in a crash, so things like the FXX will be MOSTLY safe. This may well be the saddest video ive seen :(

  • no way this car could resisted that much..what speed was it going? if its real than its phenomenal

  • dude the whole car is made of carbon fiber and other strong, light materials, the car was going atleast 40 mph

  • i thought they were testing it on 60 mph..u should check out lamborghini diablo same results

  • Search for "ford rs200 crash test", even better!

  • how do you work that out its only doing 50 km/ph 31 mph....and it sucked balls

  • Comment removed

  • lol

  • what was the speed?

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!

    (tears down my face)

  • hmm it did pretty damn good

  • CRUNCH

  • That is why mr bean lives.....

    xaxa!!!

  • It does pretty good

  • poor car :(

  • It was the 1992 Prototype-Pre release. I would have tested it at well to see how good the car holds up to a fronal impact. And then when its done i would replace the bent frame and rebuild it.

  • mclaren f1 :| whi ?

you distroed a legend for a cras test on 70 km/h max :|

even so you ... sry for the car ...

  • lmfao did you see the subtitles!!!
