Yep just doing an imation/impersonation no arguement there. Play the song quite differently if doing it seriousy and not to Bowies backing track. Yes Nina Simone's version is best, but would say Bowie's is equally inspired by origial Johnny Mathis version, cheesy and mellodramatic. Buckleys version is good but a bit OTT with the vocal gymnastics. Really I was just testing some new studio gear rather than trying to make any artistic statement but thanks for taking the time to comment.

Not to be a downer but, although you sing well, you are basically just imitating David Bowie. Not only in the way he performs the song but also his vocal style. A singers true test is the ability to have his/her own voice so to speak. To add your own emotion and personality. Otherwise you are just doing an impersonation. Nina Simone's version is what inspired David Bowie but he sounds nothing like her. Jeff Buckly's version is the next best thing next to Nina's in my opinion. Check it out.

I was expecting something awful, but, that is a nice job, far better than a karaoke job! One of my favorite Bowie tunes, I'll run it through my head all day sometimes, singing aloud in the car and hoping that I sound anything close to as good as this. Bravo!
