  • Also, there was an unintentionally distorted guitar sound in the 1956 with a damaged amp in "The Train Kept A Rolling".

  • The first track ever to use distorted guitar and feedback

  • so right on the money about Lowman's influence on Steve Cropper. Cropper never fails to mention he's his favorite guitarist.

  • stupid....

  • The funk beat starts right here with this track.

  • Best guitarist ever!

  • This was one of the first songs to have a distorted guitar in it. I was told Ike Turner and His Kings of Rythem on the record Rocket 88 were the first ones to utilize a distorted guitar tone. That record was recorded in 1951 and this song here was recorded in 1958. I dont know though, this guitar tone sound more distorted than Ike Turners. I think this is actual overdrive.

  • @CamW91 Johnny Guitar Watson's "Space Guitar" came out in '53 and that's way more distorted than this, also Willie Joe and his Unitar made a pretty crazy sound. Still I think this is probably my favorite guitar sound from the '50s.

  • Great one from a great group

  • Isn't this the first song to intentionally utilize feedback?

  • Yes, it's alsot the first song to use distortion on the guitar.
