We can argue about what the state should or should not do, but the relevent question is what thhe state can afford to do and we are going bankrupt as a nation, which means we will have to cut the size and scope of the state.

The term "progressive" is extremely problematic, because: 1) Progress has a strongg subjective element - whereas you may consider an expansion of the federal government "progress," I do not. 2) It is better to describe the means rather than ends, in other words it would be more appropriate to label your platform as: "statism," "socialism" or a "command economy."

Progressives, progressives, I like to say the word progressive. Are you progressive yet? I am progressive. Being a progressive shows progress and helps us to progress. Unfortunately it also means your liberty, freedom, will soon vanish. It has been slowly squished by politicians and their ruling hand and manipulation of the free market which never really existed. You pay a tax on everything. From your house and car to cigarettes and soda. The federal government owns you, they don't work for you.
