It is too old to get a replacement and i certainly wont buy another one. In fact i dont think i would buy anything from M-audio again. It's just plastic amature rubbish at a pro price.
Mine has just gone too. Have had it for a couple of years, but the first one we got went after a few hours then got replaced with this one. Thought we were just unlucky with the first one with it just being a faulty one. This one has been fine then BANG, same thing.
We use a Focusrite for recording in the studio now and this one only gets used as an DAC for mixing at home and general PC sound.
I own one of these units and I've had so many problems with it. My power has to be connected now I can't get power via usb anymore, and you'll love this part guys my button doesnt work anymore so I have to tape it on.. luckily I've upgraded to tascam us-1800 but I still use the fast track for pro tools m-powered..its a hunk of junk.
I just bought my Fast Track Ultra less than 3 hours ago.
It is already doing this, tried my condenser mic and BLAM.
What a piece of shit, M-Audio you should be ashamed of yourselves. Don't you test your products before you put them on the market? Did your technicians ever try plugging in a condenser mic to this unit before you made them available to the public???
If anyone has any suggestions on a RELIABLE mobile pre, made by anyone but M-Audio, I am all ears.
I found that the problem is in the power button. I actually kept switching it on and off a bunch of times until it stopped and I never press the button to turn it off.
Hey when you guys got repairs/ replacement how much did it cost you? I have this exact problem and they said to send it in. idk if i can afford it though..
Mine became defective after a few days from purchase. I got it replaced for free from the dealer. But I'm VERY careful now - only using brand new XLR-cables and always turning off device before switching on/off phantom. As said, I have a feeling it is very sensitive to spikes on the inputs...
i had the same problem and even more serious. First, try reistalling the drivers, second see if you can press the power button half way or just press it a little till you see the power LED on without the flashing lights of midi in and out. If that does not work, take it for service or if you are good with electronics, open the soundcard and fix the power connection. I think this is the same problem as mine. I hope that helps.. good luck.
this happened to me to! But it solved. I just let the interface off for a while. then I turn on again and works. but i still afraid that it happened again :S
@roaldkleiveland Oh dear, looks like it might be a while before I'm producing again. I bought mine in New York but I live in London, I hope they can do something! No reply on the forum yet. And tech support were away earlier today.
@lewisflude Sorry to hear that... Was your faulty from the beginning?
I got an answer from tech support that the device had to be replaced. Apparently this is a known problem, but I'm not sure if they've found the root cause... My feeling is that it is very sensitive on spikes from phantom-power or bad cables
@roaldkleiveland I think I accidentally had phantom power off. I have used it since March last year. But I don't have the receipts. I hope its ok. I think your probabally right. Looks like I'll have to let my new sE2200a gather some dust for a while...
