Our parents gave us life! We're bound by blood to carry out their wishes! By fighting and putting the life they gave us in danger, actually kind of wasting that life and making our parents' deaths and wishes meaningless. Wait...
As much as I still agree with the Gundam series' messages...I still hate Banagher...this kid has the most powerful Gundam in the UC timeline...and just wastes it. At least Setsuna knew when it was time to pull the trigger.
"has the most powerful Gundam in the UC timeline" at the moment. That is, we still have 57 years of Universal Century to watch after this show (F91, Crossbone, Victory). But if Amuro was piloting it, that mobile armor would be toast in a pico-second.
@LockOnStratus64 well i watched the shit outa the sub version before watchin the dub version lol but even so his acting isnt very good or atleast for this role.
Thank you for the upload. I am looking forward to buying this at or after the con I'm going to coming up. I really like this series so far I just hope the story doesn't stumble at the finish line like so many others.
This fight represents a retarded concept in Gundam. He tries to reason with a girl to save her humanity while she wipes out innocent civilians literally by the thousands. And then he has the nerve to say force doesn't solve anything.
Instead of giving Gundams to idealistic know-nothing children, why not give them to someone who understand the hardships of the real world?
@productNine Hey don't ever compare the master piece that was Zeta to that piece of shit Seed. But I agree it was like Gundam Seed but even Kira didn't hold back to kill Stella when she was doing the exact same thing Loni was doing. XD Sunrise ruins everything from 00 Movie, Gundam Wing, Gundam X, Gundam Seed/Destiny and I don't even know if I want to watch Age because I know Sunrise will F that up even though the Gundams look cool can't say the same for the character design
@Jali005 We are having a difference of opinion regarding the purported quality of Zeta. Personally, I couldn't stand it enough to even finish it (and I did try, since it's considered such a classic). As far as the AUs go, I like Gundam X the most. Even despite being canceled 10 episodes early, it managed *not* to have a rushed ending. It was also much more character driven than the other AUs. As for SEED, I enjoyed it. I'll leave it at that.
@Jali005 Personally I liked this episode quite a lot, who cares what the original story is like, you can't have the OVA anime be like the novels too much. Otherwise it will have no surprises, I mean the first Full Metal Alchemist Anime was that much better in my opinion because of that, the new Brotherhood follows the manga too closely sadly.
@Luminahawke Umm how many people have read the light novels and most of time when they do this it makes the story look ridiculous. It changes too much and the story makes no sense. Reason why first Full Metal Alchemist isn't as good as brotherhood because not most people read the original story be it Light Novels or Manga and the anime doesn't fill the holes left in the story that the manga does.
@Jali005 you completely miss read what I said. I said OVAs and animes based off novels and manga "MUST" be different from the Novels or Manga, otherwise there are no surprises, otherwise people already know the outcomes and endings. It's a good thing that Unicorn isn't following the Novels closely, and the original Full Metal Alchemist anime I said was better in my personal opinion, at least I ment to say that. Brotherhood I just can not get into it at all.
@Luminahawke No I didn't Just because you believe that there are many other that will disagree with you even people who read the original source. When you alter the story at least try to tie the loose ends up which a lot of times that doesn't happen.
@productNine well it wasn't supposed to be like this, banagher was much more refined in the novels than in here, and the one who thought banagher how to fight was Cardeas' assistant, instead of piloting unicorn as if he has been piloting it for life
@winglegendzero That would be weird...since the Unicorn novels and model kits have been around A LOT longer then Gundam 00...but you are right, total rip off...
3:15 yea loni that's because your parents were international terrorists who built a pretty dangerous weapon, with which Im pretty sure youve killed more people than died on 9.11 :/
In the novel anyway, its piloted by Marida Cruz at first. She was brainwashed and sent to capture the Unicorn in Dakar. Later on the Banshee is recovered by the Feddies and assingned to Riddhe.
@ProductionMFbeyblade you can also tell because earlier on the marcenas dude was looking at blue prints and then grinning at marida... *hint* she was going to pilot it
They try to make it epic and all... but I can't take it seriously with the series called "Gundam Unicorn" It is like trying to make Prince of Tennis turn into something like FairyTale. That's just me.
This episode went right to corny-ville. What did we conclude from this episode: 1) links is a fag 2) firing an incredibly powerful beam magnum right in the middle of a residential street is "cool." 3) adolescent "whose cock is bigger" stand off allows us to "feel what's in people's hearts", and 4) links needs to "borrow" his super robot's power to defeat the pilot in the Shamblo who says "Zeig Zeon" so much that it looses it meaning.
@3scapistHD The girl from Destiny is Stellah. I guess why Loni (the girl in the Shamblo) reminds you of her is because they are both mentally unstable, at some point, and just blow shit up in their paths. It's a Gundam cliche, ever since the Zeta Gundam series.
@neonnwave1 Actually, its an MS-08TX/S Efreet Shneid (From the German word "schneiden" "to cut") Named because of all the heat Kunai's it was armed with.
They were both varients of the standard MS-08TX Efreet.
I still want to know why Sunrise changed this confrontation. In the novel Banahger was fighting Loni's father. They gave her his characterization; Loni saw that the battle was meaningless and tried to stop her father, who in turn shoots her. As she lays dyinh, she reaches out to Banager and helps guide him to shoot the chest and kill her and her father. Which he does. Why they tried to put a Gundam SEED moment in a series that had a kick ass protagonist is beyond me.
@speedstriker They also removed the fact that a mobile suit like the Shamblo requires about four pilots due to it's size, so Loni, her brothers and her father were all on the Shamblo. Also she wasn't as bat shit crazy as her family so that's why Banagher was able to convince her to stop. One other thing,in the novel her spirit says thank you before disappearing and Banagher cries for her. Yes he still cries but in the novel it had meaning, here? He's crying for someone who wanted to kill
@punkKid62 As well as being completely hypocritical. He's worried about unnecessary deaths but completely overlooks all the civilians Loni has killed. Hope the last two episodes aren't as rushed and disjointed as this one.
@speedstriker That was his biggest motivation in the novel. Both him and Loni saw that killing civilians was just allowing events to repeat themselves, Banagher wanted to stop the Shamblo but not kill Loni, when it came down to it though; he did it. There was no way to save her or reason with her father so he was given an opening due to Loni and took it. This is why I love Gundam UC, Banagher is an amazing character. For some reason they didn;t adapt that part and made this ep up on the spot
@ronnor001 It was the fact that Banagher was being preachy about wanting to stop violence but his methods didn't make much sense. He beat up Zimmerman, but couldn't bring himself to at least shoot the beam magnum to disable it. I've stated that the novel has a much different outcome, yes I can see what Banagher was trying to do but the TV adaptation was handled very sloppy. His force won't solve anything line can be contradicted by the fact he used force to subdue Zimmerman, hence a SEED moment.
@punkKid62 He beat up Zimmerman to knock some sense into him, not kill him. Banagher isn't a pacifist...nor was this a "seed moment (a phrase I hate.)" Banagher's just a compassionate person. If he suddenly dropped his compassionate nature and started whupping ass and taking names without giving a single fuck like a lot of people seem to want him to, it would go against all the prevalent themes of Unicorn, not to mention be inconsistent with his character development.
@ronnor001 except Banahger was compassionate in the novel too and I liked it. This scene was handled sloppy, malfunctioning phsycoframe aside. Banahger could have easily destroyed the cannon, taken out the drive system. Anything really. Instead they make him break down cause he's "compassionate". Didn't stop him in the novel where he pleaded with Loni's father to stop. He used force as a last resort because he wanted the fighting to stop, if he was left with no choice he shot.
@ronnor001 And using force doesn't mean "D'oh well killing spree". He used FORCE to stop Zimmerman, using force to stop someone and out right killing them are two different things. That's why people are pissed at this scene, myself included. He could use force to knock Zimmerman on his ass but could find a way to disable the Shamblo? I'm sorry, that's dumb. Even after everything was said and done in the novel, Banagher still cried over the loss', he still cried for Loni.
Amazing! At time index 12:35 the appearance of the black unicorn seem to have caused the LAN line phone connection Banagher's cockpit to produce a busy signal.
Rid may have seemed like a jerk but come on! that woman was unpredictable in action and nature and she already killed a lot of people, so you know she would have to pay for her crimes even if she did survive. his shoot first, talk later policy seems reasonable.
I like how we see all these old zeon mobile suits fighting and putting up a decent battle against the federation. Then the Byalant launches and slaughters them all.
@mercurexi Gundam has always had very good English dubs, please fuck off with that bandwagon bullshit. I'm sorry but this dub is incredible. Not everything that Japan comes out with is superior to the English counterpart.
The irony is that if any of these folks actually knew Japanese, they would probably be able to pick out the seiyus that aren't all that great. But instead, they revere the unknown with high regard, because it's different and unfamiliar.
@Bargadiel Whats sad is several companies jump through hoops and spend millions of dollars acquiring licensing to animated series with the young adult and adult in mind, spend thousands of dollars auditioning voice actors who usually do fit the character they are voicing over only to be ridiculed for their efforts and desire to bring this sort of entertainment to our computers and television screen by people who most of which can't read or even speak japanese.
Episode 4 has always been about the grunts fighting and that awesome byalant custom, cant get enough of those fights, the unicorn didnt have much screentime in this Ep.
Nice to see that Unicorn is throwing logic out the window by giving them tech like the Shamblo which they shouldn't be able to have especially if these Sleeves don't have as much in terms of materials. The Unicorn is understandable but everything else is absurd.
@CyberSlayer128 The Shamblo doesn't solely belong to the Sleeves. It's probably a long time effort build up since the OYW, with only the Psychoframe and some of the design details given by the Sleeves.
Not a big fan of Banagher's english VA he could have done a much better job but everyone else was good for there parts. Still i think "Gundam! Give me your strength" is a way better line then "Gundam let me borrow your power".
@qu7aker I had more of a problem with the dialogue translation than Banagher's VA. In my honest opinion, I like Banagher's VA. It's basically Shiro Amada's voice but better quality. I cringe constantly during his fist fight with Zinnerman, but you have to remember that sometimes Japanese dialogue translates to cheese in English.
@SploraDorali The translation was good overall it was just that one line that caught my attention the most cause it was mad epic when he said it in the sub and i was waiting to hear it in the english dub and they changed it to a way more cheesier line. Maybe its just me cause i saw the eng sub version like 10 times before seeing the dub lol. And i usually almost always prefer the dub in Gundam shows.
The tone in which he said "let me borrow your power" sounded pretty great though. Things like that don't bother me much with dubs. Stuff like them saying SHALL all the time and talking about sadness/heart without synonyms bother me though. But overall this dub was pretty great so far.
@Bargadiel I didnt like the tone he used either. It didnt sound as emotional as the Japanese VA when he said "Gundam! Give me your strength". But overall it is a good dub.
@naruto3k5 The beam magnum is extremely strong. Remember in episode 3 when they used the hyper mega particle cannon to separate Palau? It's been said to have that power, but in only one burst.
@naruto3k5 The beam magnum is stronger than most anything we've seen on an MS thus far. It empties an entire e-cap in just one shot. Most suits get many shots out of one e-cap. In my opinion its too powerful, it depletes his ammo way too fast and the ridiculous amount of power in one shot is overkill in almost all situations, resulting in a bunch of wasted energy.

If he suddenly dropped his compassionate nature and started whupping ass and taking names without giving a single fuck like a lot of people seem to want him to, it would go against all the prevalent themes of Unicorn, not to mention be inconsistent with his character development.
ronnor001 2 weeks ago
@ronnor001 except Banahger was compassionate in the novel too and I liked it. This scene was handled sloppy, malfunctioning phsycoframe aside. Banahger could have easily destroyed the cannon, taken out the drive system. Anything really. Instead they make him break down cause he's "compassionate". Didn't stop him in the novel where he pleaded with Loni's father to stop. He used force as a last resort because he wanted the fighting to stop, if he was left with no choice he shot.
punkKid62 2 weeks ago

>> NO WE CAN UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER
> WE'RE MAKING OUR ATTACK RUN NOW BANANA, PLUG THAT BITCH
>>NO WAIT I GOT THROUGH TO HER SHE'S GOOD NOW
>Fuck it.

Rid may have seemed like a jerk but come on! that woman was unpredictable in action and nature and she already killed a lot of people, so you know she would have to pay for her crimes even if she did survive. his shoot first, talk later policy seems reasonable.
also i like the dub. :)

I like how we see all these old zeon mobile suits fighting and putting up a decent battle against the federation. Then the Byalant launches and slaughters them all.

This has been the best part of Unicorn to date, makes me wonder how they will top that with episodes 5 and 6

@mercurexi Gundam has always had very good English dubs, please fuck off with that bandwagon bullshit. I'm sorry but this dub is incredible. Not everything that Japan comes out with is superior to the English counterpart.

@wwwpwndcom yeah, look at the final mixes to kingdom hearts. they ALL use english voices.

The irony is that if any of these folks actually knew Japanese, they would probably be able to pick out the seiyus that aren't all that great. But instead, they revere the unknown with high regard, because it's different and unfamiliar.
Bargadiel 1 month ago
@Bargadiel I think, regardless of dialect, you can hear the way someone stresses their voice to convey emotion.
That's what people seem to pick up.
Varkov 1 month ago
@Bargadiel Whats sad is several companies jump through hoops and spend millions of dollars acquiring licensing to animated series with the young adult and adult in mind, spend thousands of dollars auditioning voice actors who usually do fit the character they are voicing over only to be ridiculed for their efforts and desire to bring this sort of entertainment to our computers and television screen by people who most of which can't read or even speak japanese.

Episode 4 has always been about the grunts fighting and that awesome byalant custom, cant get enough of those fights, the unicorn didnt have much screentime in this Ep.
FlankerX 2 months ago
Nice to see that Unicorn is throwing logic out the window by giving them tech like the Shamblo which they shouldn't be able to have especially if these Sleeves don't have as much in terms of materials. The Unicorn is understandable but everything else is absurd.
CyberSlayer128 2 months ago
@CyberSlayer128 The Shamblo doesn't solely belong to the Sleeves. It's probably a long time effort build up since the OYW, with only the Psychoframe and some of the design details given by the Sleeves.

Not a big fan of Banagher's english VA he could have done a much better job but everyone else was good for there parts. Still i think "Gundam! Give me your strength" is a way better line then "Gundam let me borrow your power".
qu7aker 2 months ago 19
@qu7aker I had more of a problem with the dialogue translation than Banagher's VA. In my honest opinion, I like Banagher's VA. It's basically Shiro Amada's voice but better quality. I cringe constantly during his fist fight with Zinnerman, but you have to remember that sometimes Japanese dialogue translates to cheese in English.
SploraDorali 2 months ago
@SploraDorali The translation was good overall it was just that one line that caught my attention the most cause it was mad epic when he said it in the sub and i was waiting to hear it in the english dub and they changed it to a way more cheesier line. Maybe its just me cause i saw the eng sub version like 10 times before seeing the dub lol. And i usually almost always prefer the dub in Gundam shows.
qu7aker 2 months ago 4
@qu7aker
The tone in which he said "let me borrow your power" sounded pretty great though. Things like that don't bother me much with dubs. Stuff like them saying SHALL all the time and talking about sadness/heart without synonyms bother me though. But overall this dub was pretty great so far.
Bargadiel 2 months ago
@Bargadiel I didnt like the tone he used either. It didnt sound as emotional as the Japanese VA when he said "Gundam! Give me your strength". But overall it is a good dub.
qu7aker 2 months ago
@qu7aker eh, either way it is an awkward line

Love the fact that the Beam Magnum is so strong that the Delta Plus' arm malfunctions from recoil.
magnaz888 2 months ago
@magnaz888 the beam magnum isnt all too strong...its just that riddhe didnt calibrate the delta plus to handle the rifle.
naruto3k5 2 months ago
@naruto3k5 U saw episode 2 right it blew up a geara zulu by barely touching it.
magnaz888 2 months ago
@magnaz888 yeah it did, so i guess it malfunctioned both ways
naruto3k5 2 months ago
@naruto3k5 The beam magnum is extremely strong. Remember in episode 3 when they used the hyper mega particle cannon to separate Palau? It's been said to have that power, but in only one burst.
SploraDorali 2 months ago
@naruto3k5 The beam magnum is stronger than most anything we've seen on an MS thus far. It empties an entire e-cap in just one shot. Most suits get many shots out of one e-cap. In my opinion its too powerful, it depletes his ammo way too fast and the ridiculous amount of power in one shot is overkill in almost all situations, resulting in a bunch of wasted energy.
