I remember this being played one night on "Sounds of the Seventies", a BBC FM Prog-rock series of programmes that ran from 22:00 - 24:00 Monday to Friday.
There were different DJ's and I recall that the night this was played was probably a Monday, Alan Black and Bob Harris!
broadened my mind, they played the talking part too.
First heard so much of The Beach Boys Love You on that programme.
On The conversation that follows this song, the guy who wonder's if Louise is home has a talk with Louise's Flatmate Or Whoever he is ( Sum Hippie Cat In The Crashpad they live i Think) He asks if she lives there and say's that" she probably doesnt remember me anyway" The Hippie Cat Replys" Yeah, she doesn't remember much of anything,SHE'S REAL GROOVY!!! " I love this album, and only discovered it here on youtube!! Great Stuff!!
The non-music "coda" that firstvoodoochild accurately recalls is a part, I think, of "E-Train," the next cut on
the album. This great album, recently re-released on CD was commended by John Lennon who called it his favorite album of that year, or favorite US album, or some such. IMHO you really have to listen to the album, not track following track, since the tracks mostly blend into one another and the separations (like this one) seem arbitrary.
yes, the guy(1)knocks at the door, someone (2)opening. 1: is Louise here? 2:Louise... I think she' s up in the kitchen, Louise.. come on in... 1: no , I just wondered were she is .. 2:she lives here, we all live here, do you live here? come on in,... 1no, I have to catch a train to Queens... 2: Queens,, oh groovy, Queens,,, have a nice trip, man! 1: thank you, good by.! 2: what a freak... well that's how I remember it.Was a long time ago, about 1972, I thought it is verry funny!
Yes! I remember hearing this on KFMK in Houston about 1968 and never knowing who it was -- and haven't heard it since. They played that longer version with the conversation at the door. It'd be great to hear that version again.
u r right.Seem to remember sound of footsteps walkin up stairs, him knockin on a door and some one answers it and he is heard to say"Hey.........You're not Louise" or somptin like that
WAIT - wasn't there more to the ending voiceover? Him ringing Louise's bell, and a stoned freak coming to the door, getting lost in thought while trying to answer if Louise is home???
I knew there was a bizarre ending to the song, and the voiceover didn't have the kick I was expecting. Anyone???

WOW - I haven't heard this since working in a kitchen in Provincetown, with the radio blaring WBCN while we worked. It was 1968.
Some songs stick in your head. This wasn't a bad song, and some are better left in memory.
I enjoyed hearing this again. It was an odd song, in those odd days. Kind of like a musical play. THANKS for posting it.

I used to have this on vinyl... would love to hear "biggest thing" again - it's a psychedelic classic - well ahead of it's time.

Fantastic! Thanks YouTube and StringRamblerBale. I haven't heard this since '67 or '68 in the East Village.
