  • Thanks for all the positive feedback!

  • Brian is very knowledgeable about her job and has inspiring experiences. I like how he said his days are different and he can challenge himself on daily bases and even though he has been doing this for a long time he still learns new things every day.

  • Brian's experience is remarkable. He sounds like someone who really knows what he is talking about and he had great advice. He stressed that getting involved on campus and pursuing those leadership roles is the best way to get ahead. I also really respect that he is involved in strategic planning.

  • I liked how Brian said that there is never a dull day. He said that he often challenged throughout his day, this sounds like something that I hope for myself. I don't want to be in a position where I do the same things everyday and never learn something new.

  • This guys has sooo much experience and the knowledge he could pass along is priceless. I definitely plan on getting in contact with him to hopefully get some pointers and advice. Also, I liked his advice of using your college experiences and involvements, and bridging them to your professional career. Being able to show employers that you have invaluable experience will greatly increase your chances of getting hired.

  • He has a lot of passion towards his job I enjoyed listening to him. I think it was great that he was chosen for a key note speaker for his major company in Lake Tahoe. Its good to hear that campus experiences can have an impact and I think everyone needs that.

  • I think it is interesting that he was chosen to be a keynote speaker for a major company out in Lake Tahoe. This exemplifies his passion for the industry as well as his credentials for the work he submits. It is inspiring to see someone care about their job so much.

  • I like this interview because it is more geared towards marketing which is something that I'm interested in. Its cool to see how much he cares about his job and how much he loves doing it a the same time. His experience is excellent and something that anyone should aspire to achieve in there career goals.

  • Mr. Kohlmann's experience is incredible. I really enjoyed listening to him talk about all of the things he has done and how much passion he has for his job. His strong regard for internships is exciting since I have one coming up. I also like how he talked about the fact that all your campus experiences can really have an impact.

  • I think Brian is great. I met with him at the BMA event and he was definitely memorable in the advice that he gave me that night. I like how passionate he is about his job and how he always wants to meet his client’s needs. I like how he notes there is never a dull day at work. It’s exciting to know that there is such a variety in things you’ll be doing daily in this career field.

  • Wow he has a lot of experience. I never considered marketing or business but he is convincing me that Whitewater really does have a great business program. I'm glad he points out that leadership is important to have before you go out into the workforce. He was very involved on campus and so am I. Either way my mind is so made up now to do an internship just for the experience.

  • Mr. Kohlmann has a lot of experience in client work and planning and execution of campaigns. I like how he said it is very exciting to see a project go from start to finish and see the completed project. Every project is different and so is every expectation, but that is what he enjoys.

  • Mr. Kohlmann has had a lot of years as an account representative and is further along in his career. I like hearing about his goals he has for his projects, it shows the organization and motivation he has for his projects. He emphasizes getting envolved on campus is very important, which I do agree is a necessity to make good connections for your future. Paid and unpaid internships are a necessity to make the right career path by the time you're ready to graduate.

  • I liked that Brian said that working with one client, meeting their needs and following all the way through on a project is very rewarding. I also liked that he said that there is never a dull day on the job. I also like how Brain reinforced friendships and networking as something that shapes who you are as an individual. I also like that Brain had a lot of involvement with campus activities that seemed to be very leadership based. "Bridge your college experience into your career."

  • I think what Brian said about marketing is strategic and you have to find a way to create what the client wants is very similar to the way public relations is too. It can be a challenge but as Brian said, it is very satisfying when you see a project through start to finish and finally see the end result. - Jaime S.

  • I like how Brian said that he never has a dull day and that every project is a little different and a little challenging. I also enjoyed how he said that his experiences on campus affected who he is as a person and there are so many things you can take out into the real world.

  • He spoke more about his experiences at Whitewater and how valuable the friendships he has made while here. He also talked about how organizations are an important part of the college experience and can get you where you want to be. As everyone else did in these series of videos he talks about the importance of an internship. Thanks for the advise.

  • I was able to sit down with Brian during the lighting round BMA Event and he was able to provide me with good career advice. You can tell he is very passionate about his job and willing to help in every aspect. I like how he emphases on his reason for choosing whitewater, I agree that its a great school because of the curriculum it provides for its students. I also like that he mentioned the people you are around tend to shape you as an individual, I think this is important.

  • I think that Brian's experience is really great. The fact that he has had 13 years of experience has probably given him the knowledge to work at many different places that need media specialists. I think that its really awesome that he doesnt have a dull day and every project is different. I would never want to work at a job that i had to do the same thing over and over every day.

  • I was able to talk with Brian at the Speed Interview event. He does say that getting involved on campus will help in the immediate future, but internships will really help you in the job market.

  • Brian has great advice on how one should act in the business field and you can tell how much he likes his current career. I enjoyed how he emphasized about how important experiences in school whether it maybe groups or through school work really helps you with your career.

  • I had the opportunity to also do a speed interview with Brian at the Manpower/BMA Lighting Round event. He had some fantastic and positive advice for me that night as well as on this video. Participating in University activities and groups seems like such a great resume builder and learning experience!

    -Blythe

  • Hi, you interviewed me for the ManPower speed interview event! I really like this interview, because it's nice to see a different view other then PR. I'm excited for these busy days everyone keeps talking. I'm glad you get to work a lot with the clients it's something that's important to me. You sound like you have an amazing job!

  • I liked this video because it wasn't on PR like the rest of the videos were which made me think about why I changed my major from marketing to PR a little. He had a lot of experiences on campus that in a way make up for his lack of "traditional" internships. However, his job he got just from being on campus was a great transition for him to use after college to get his feet wet in the real world. But his pushing for students to take on internships is a plus! Loved his advice at the end

  • I like the fact that he is so to the point and honest with his answers and advice. It makes him more belieable and able to relate to. Saying the two things that he enjoys the most in his career is the strategic overall planning for events etc. and that each day is different. It reinforces the reasons why I wanted to get involved in this field. - SH

  • It was interesting to learn that he didn't do any internships but still managed to gain a good job. I liked that he talked about his relationships with his clients and what his favorite moment in his career was.

    Katy D

  • I liked that he pointed out that he didn't do any internships. I have not done any yet and keep hearing about them. I plan to do some after I graduate but it was nice to see someone who has not done them either but had a job. I have a job so it is hard finding time between 23 credits and working.

    Britt P

  • I liked that he talked about his relationships with his clients and how it is very important to really get to know them and know exactly what they want from you. I liked that he encouraged us to do internships even though he never technically had one. I also know that he really follows his advice to join organizations. I have been at BMA events where he has specifically thanked other students and myself for getting out there and attending things outside of school.

  • Pushing the comfort zone is an amazing point. I had a paralyzing fear of public speaking but got over that by speaking and joining my high school Forensics team and it was the best decision I ever made, and I am definitely a natural speaker now.

Being a great group member will definitely get you farther too in my opinion. If you work well alone AND in groups they may give you more assignments and see how versatile you are.

  • Working hard will not only raise your personal expectations but everyone around you. Today's companies are looking for someone that can get the most out of themselves as well as others. Group work is extremely important for companies to be successful. DM

  • Brian's advice was great. In any job it's important to work as hard as possible to succeed. Working hard will not only raise your individual expectations but those around you. This is extremely important because todays companies want someone who can work with, motivate, and keep a group on track. DM

  • I appreciate his input on do the best you can in classes and get involved, and get outside of your comfort zone. My father personally has always told me to push my limits of my comfort zone so that I know that I can accomplish the impossible.
