This one deserves all credit, the opus has better sync but the scene selection in this one is almost perfect. I just wonder why are those last 2 scenes with Asuka's arrival and Rei's slap.
This is an amazing piece of AMV history :,D I'd love to see it 'remastered,' like the same video but done digitally (just for picture quality, nobody had that kinda technology in the 90's.)
this is great but anyone know the song the fault of the flesh by nevermore i could make the sickest evangelion amv to that song if i wasnt so computer illiterate and knew how to do it
This is coming from someone who doesn't particularly like AMVs. I find most to be really poor, but this is just stunning. The timing of the clips to the music is flawless and captivating.
I have no idea how the hell you edited this using only a VCR... great job man. I can ignore the scratchy sound in the background due to the fact that this is one of the most epic AMVs evrar.
Two words as bluntly I can express my opinion on this. Holy. Shit. This may be one of these best AMVs I have ever seen. Shonen Production's version had a much more intense action sequence when the solo riff broke out, but whatever. From the beautiful and artistic synching with the combined editing with two VCRs, this AMV really takes the cake. I can't even begin to comprehend how hard this must have been to make. But the creator definitely deserves that win. I mean it to the fullest.
ya but it wasnt until 3 yrs ago did i see the end you know. im just saying. if someone saw this vid and had no idea this was the movie then they watch the movie im sure theyd be pretty ticked off it was ruined for them
while i do think that the one that starts out saying "Shounen productions" (forgive my spelling) is better, it gave me goose bumps when you synced up "I DONT WANT TO DIE!" with Asuka's "I DONT WANT TO DIE!". that was just pure brilliance
connect one vcr to the other using the video cords and connect the other to the tv, use one vcr to play the video and the other to record parts you want
If only people didnt think that there was nothing before dvd and that we always had dvd then there would probably be alot less dumb#%#es in the world learn your history
This was incredibly wierd to watch, it goes from all the darker moments to the more upbeat moments. Then it is suddenly doomed by the destruction (Shinji and Asuka are 'kissing' then it suddenly goes to the bit where Asuka is being devoured by the Seele Units.)
Either way, this AMV is masterful, the lyrics fit the parts all too well..
I think I remember seeing this at AZ. (I definitely remember the very first bit.) It didn't stick with me at the time, because I hadn't seen Eva. But I've always loved this song with Eva, mainly because Shinji is such a whiny little bitch. ^_^
i like the opus version better, but i guess i have to give credit since they probably didn't have as many resources.... but on an unbiased lvl, opus is definetely more synced than this one.
I watched the opus version. I do think the actual scences choosen were better in this version but opus is more synced. Part of that comes from using very short video clips(definitely made with nonlinear video editing) which is just not practical when your editing with VCRs. On a side note some of the cuts seem a bit too fast to me in the opus video but that may just be because I'm used to seeing this one...So on a probably more biased opinion, I still think this one is best ;)
No Really it is the original. I promise I checked before making that claim. Evangelion Opus Premiered 2001-11-16. This video(heaven's cruelty) Premiered at Animazement 1999 (March 19-21), more than 2 years prior. Edited with nothing more than 2 VCRs this video is definitely the original! No digital Copy existed of it until recently however.

Evangelion originally came out in 1995. The statute of limitations for this particular series has probably ended.
