As a student:
I am in favour of the zero tolerance policy. I've been in 'mixed ability' classes, and those who misbehave spoil it for all.
I am also in favour of not teaching for tests, but expanding minds. But, I do feel that this will then ruin a child's chances in a GCSE exam, as the SATs are almost a 'practice run', if you will. The teachers themselves need to find a balance of teaching for tests, and improving a child's perceptions at the same time.
