If we have a tenor ukulele and we want to do a Low G but we accidentally messed up putting the string in, can we use the strings from a classical guitar if we have one?
thanks a lot - i am restringing my ukulele because i am left handed and found it pretty hard to play upside down - this was really easy to follow and i can now play my ukulele comfortably :D thanks!
@SketchLegit thats funny cause this is guide is what i used to change my ukulele strings for the first time, so maybe u shoulda watched it more carefully
@Adrian41800 It needs the correct diameter and density depending on the scale length of your ukulele (soprano, concert, tenor or baritone), which means you should buy ukulele strings.
hello! I'm trying to install new strings (I have the first type of bridge that you mentioned), but the knot keeps going through the slit where it's supposed to stay! I had a bit of trouble with the 2nd string, but it's the first string that won't stay put. Is the gauge too thin? that's what I'm thinking. I have a concert uke and bought .0191-.0216 strings. Thank you!
What strings would you recommend? I just got a Ukulele and Im not going to use the stock strings (I know this from 7 years of guitar experience). What brand of strings do you think are the best?
@Languille It is not just a question of best quality, but also of personal preference. I use Aquila Nylgut strings on ukuleles with hard tops made of mahogany, koa or maple, but I prefer RISA or WORTH Fluorocarbon strings on soft tops made of spruce and on electric ukuleles.
Sorry i've got a question! I bougt an Ukulele in Ebay! I'm Leftie and the Ukulele from Ebay isn't for Lefties! So should i chance all Strings or do you've got a better Solve for this problem? (sry for my bad english!) PLEASE HELP ME!!!
@Zollbeamter For most ukuleles, you can just flip the uke, swap the order of the strings and it'll be perfectly fine to play left handed. However, it might be a good idea to send an email to the manufacturer to check that they haven't done anything special to the model of Uke you are looking at that would prevent you from flipping the strings.
My ukulele bridge looks closest to the first knot you showed, but my ukulele is a little bit different and I'm having a hard time stringing it. On the the side of my bridge where you initially stick the string in, I have a half circle cupped out of it. so instead of being able to see the knot a tiny bit on the outside it goes all the way into the bridge. every time I try to string it it goes in and then pops out as a put more strain onto the string. Is there a different way of stringing it?
Hey Rigk, what is the brand of the uke that you called "The classical ukulele Brigde style." The first one in the beginning. And this video is excellent, I learn a lot.
@wiixwiix1 That one is a cheap laminated RISA ukulele. Looks very nice, but is not of very high quality. We decided to make only higher quality ukes at RISA. Therefore this model was discontinued in 2005.
when is the time to change the strings, can you explain? i just bought a mahalo u30g, i dont get the high pitch sound from the strings, time to change it maybe?
@SoulAvatar11 Some strings are so bad that they shouldn't be used at all. Usually, it depends on the quality of the strings, how much you play, how old the strings are, but also how much sweat your fingers produce etc. In general you can say, if they don't produce a nice sound anymore, change them!
Excellent. Really useful information. I have my first Ukulele ( Bruko 6) on its way from Thomann and a set of Aquila Nylgut that I can now fit properly. Thank you. Steve. UK
excuse me.. i really need help.. we don't have any available ukulele strings here... uhm.. i play the nylon guitar.. could those strings be substitute for my ukulele???
Thanks for the tutorial! It made restringing my uke a breeze.

Do strings make a huge difference on a new uke? I bought a cheap one, and it's cool but, G and G7 sound the sameish.

@heartlz555 Just try to make the knot thicker by putting the string once or twice more through the loop.

is it ok to just change one string, therefore having different stings (like from different sets?) or when one breaks should i change the entire set?
YourOwnDisasters 1 year ago
@YourOwnDisasters I always change the whole set, but if you don't hear a difference by just changing one string, then it is fine.
