I love it! People are so busy telling me how to raise my kids, they have forgotten to watch out for their own! OOPS! I was rolling when I watched this. Nice to I'm not the only one who gets it. I think we are the only home school family in our very small town. They all think I lost my mind when I pulled my kids from school 2 yrs ago!
I used to be homeschooled but now go to public school and I have to say going to school is much better! You get friends, sports, boys, a better education (for me), and more opportunities. It's good for kids to get away from their parents for a few hours! Besides I get out at 1:50 pm and I have weekends to see them. I would never homeschool my children. Just my opinion. :)
...take them in the bathroom, beat them up, offer them drugs.... ROFLLLLLLLLLLL!! Thank you so much for this, going to forward it to a lot of, ahem, friends. ;)
It's very simple. Growth and learning isn't something that has to be done to someone... and doing it to someone only gets in the way of growth and learning.
Schools have gotten worse since I have left school...They put building stadiums, nascar 'museums' and other stuff we dont need before our schools...they take so much money from our schools...to put into the gov't peoples pockets so they can buy boats...i find myself getting more and more upset everyday bc of it...Thats IN PART why I am wanting to homeschool...
I love this. I'm 28, have a job, a partner, own my home and all the usual things one has. I went to university and got a good degree and I was home schooled - though we tend to say home educated in the UK, same difference ;) At 16 I went to college for 3 years then Uni after that for 3. Growing up we got all those stupid questions. My partner and I intend to home school and now (we're not even having kids for about 5 years yet) we're already getting the stupid questions! Keep up the good work!
I love your video's, because you speak the truth. My kids are in public school right now, but I'm thinking of homeschooling next year. People need to mind their own business!! Thank you for posting all these video's. I find them very helpful and I like the fact that you tell it like it is:) Keep up the good work!
Just had to share that today while prepping my blog post that features this video and about how to find you on the web my ten year old homeschooled son watched this video. He was cracking up and he said "that was really funny". I agree. One thing that does bother me though is over time I have had the same exact question from the same relatives over and over and over (usually at every holiday). The interesting thing is that the answer is so unimportant to them that they can't remember the answer.
i have to disagree with the whole socail thing you said. in school, if you get beaten up in a bathroom, thats called "beef" when you socailize, in school, you talk to people in the lunch room or after class. being beaten up is being beatenup. thats not being soacail. thats two different thing's you combined. sure it works for some people, other people it doesent, like me. my mom tryed to homeschool me and it screwed me up. dont ask me how, it's not something i want to get into. just bad memorys.
I will happily shell out the cash for your book. I will buy copies for all my friends. Thank you for sharing this video!! signed, Homeschooling Mother of Four Who Has Long Since Given Up Explaining
I've been watching your videos...since I'm a homeschooling mom as well. Agree with all your opinions. Also wanted to add that I thin you have beautiful skin! :)
OH! My favorite answer is: "The private schools are too expensive." (I've yet to have someone offer to pay for it for us!) My dd is SO sweet, b/c she isn't in The Group all day. And she knows how important education is. Besides, she plays more than they get to. Her best friend (in ps) sometimes works til midnight, and she's 4th grade!
Nodding my head along with this video (for those people who ask accusingly, obviously some people are just making friendly chitchat). If you're really writing a book about homeschooling with attitude I'd buy it! :)
Friend, I so admire your video.Iam a homeschool teaher,I could watch this video over and over. You couldn't word any of this any better very well done! Girl, you go with that book! Thanks for sharing. If you do another video be sure let me know. Thanks!!!
Homeschooling is one of the most valuable rights we have as Americans. Putting our kids into these slave manufacturing plants also known as public schools prepare them for only a life of servitude and ignorant bliss. If you want to raise an independent thinker you have no choice but to home school your child.
true..we don't answer that drill any more.. Those teachers at the public school system are not "covering" my child. As a police man would cover his partner. They are not to be trusted with my treasures.
My husband and I LOVE your video! We homeschooled our son from K-12; he's 22 and in college right now. My favorite stupid question is definitely, "What about socialization?" Socialization = "herd mentality"! Love the attitude and "the stare"!
i'm homeschooled and i get asked a lot of weird questions! it gets so annoying! expecially when i'm walkin around the mall when all the other kids are in school and then they're like "why aren't you in school?" almost everyone asks that, somedays i don't feel like answering question so i make things up
My favorite was meeting Ms. S.C. face-to-face a few years ago, and she asked, "Isn't she missing a lot?" and went on to say she gives speeches in the schools' auditoriums. Um, did she not realize mine was meeting her face-to-face!
Great video!! Another stupid question that I hear a lot is "Would you ever let your children go to public school if they wanted to?" As if they are dying to go to the government school if only we would let them.Thank you for the video :)
I love this video.. great job.. i do videos about homeschooling too.. their meant to be funny but they also prove that homeschoolers aren't missing anything that public or privet schooled children get... very cool and i hope to read this book.
A+++++ amazing thank you for this post. My husband and i are expecting our first child and we were both ps'd. BAAAAD expeiriences. we are homeschooling all the way.
I love how you remind homeschoolers that they do not have to answer to those who ask us why we are homeschooling. Explaining ourselves gives away our power. Unless someone is truly interested, why bother sharing such personal information with just anyone.
I have been asked the same stoopid questions sister i am laughing so hard because I relate... lollololo

Just tell them you hate the horrible socialization that goes on in school. That will get them, because that is probably their next question.
