@WendyfaeArt I only do fantasy art, I do concept art with that theme but thats all. I design products from time to time but I am self employed full time.
@WendyfaeArt I have one as you have found out already ;) Sorry I am woefully behind on comments I have been painting my butt off. I post progress pics on my facebook fan page.
Just FYI - the worst offenders are Juniper, Port, Chestnut, Ivy, Russett, Sage, Autumn Brown, and Cocoa. I usually don't spray anything done in watermedia, thus no spray on the test, I do spray all other media, however. Watermedia usually gets framed under UV protectant glass. I've learned not to trust fugitive colors on finished works (learned my lesson the hard way!), so just thought if I knew a color was fugitive and I could save someone else the same heartache, I would! :)
Ash - I didn't use fixative on the test I did, so I don't know if that would stop the fading, slow it down, or not. I do know that the colors did tend to fade a bit even kept out of the light, so I'm not sure how much a fixative will help. Maybe if you have one that offers good UV protection? I have a can of Lascaux and a can of Krylon, neither mention UV protection or protection from fading, but I think I will set up another two tests, one of each of these two fixatives and see what happens!
@GaladrielLovesFrodo I spray ALL my work with a workable fixative and then once complete, seal it with a UVA/UVB protected coating in either gloss or matt
The graphtints are fab, you will love them, just be aware that they have issues with lightfastness, so be sure to test them. I did a test several years ago and I was surprised how fast and how badly some of the colors faded. They are great for a sketchbook, however, and they do all kinds of neat tricks!
what is your career? :)
