  • Most interesting, thanks for posting.

  • are you part of the Amish community? or you accepted life in a modern society?

If so you must be shunned and an outcast in the Amish community..... Weird and your still be able to visit you parents?

  • @sarge6925 No, sorry that is a common misconception about the Amish. Each community has it's own rules, and this one that I was a part of does not shun if you were never a member, or if you leave during a "split" in the church. I was not a member (membership is after you get baptized).

  • aww i love ex amish guys...so adorable, cute accent too. must have good morals too, but are also smart for not being gullible to the whole religion, etc.

  • Amish people are retty ridiculous and alsoextreamly gullable.

  • Id love to fuck an Amish bird, shed love it.

  • @curbhash Cool, I too am proud of my heritage :-)

  • "C H I L D A B U S E I S S U E S" ? Sounds like you've found yourself a very unoriginal cause. What a shame so complicated an interest hasn't speeded up your rate of speech. I guess you mean beating kids. I doubt Amish molest their kids much, but they do laugh out loud about sex and show off their daughters' bodies when offering them for marriage. A cute girl at Pulaski county pool wore a bikini AND a little bonnet on her head! I wanted to compliment her, but her pop was the sheriff.

  • @1emanres Actually, the ones in my former religion have been known for sexual abuse.

  • @mrdeleted Well, I suppose that could happen since kids are so cute and since the religion is so efficient at finding out about child molestation but not efficient about punishing it. Cases of rampant child abuse have happened in some areas, but you see that in the nonAmish world too. Usually, what causes rampant child molestation is when it's socially encouraged and not punished. In such cases I would think the blame would fall on the Bishop. Laughing about it to boys and men is an Amish trait.

  • @1emanres Some may laugh, but that is sort of a stereotype to say that they all do. The problem is that they do not report abuses to authorities when they know about it. They just "shun" the guy an 6 weeks later they are in good standing again, which as you said encourages the guys rather then dis-courage them from rape.

  • @mrdeleted definatly, their all fucking weird, or will be eventually anyway.

  • since Amish don´t believe in military service, what would the amish do in case that the USA is invaded by some other countries? Because it wouldn´t be fair that others fight for the nation while the amish do nothing about it. Freedom is something that the Amish take for granted.

  • @arcelioba I would doubt that they would fight as they don't believe in fighting, one of my uncles went to jail for 3 years rather then fight in one war, but my brother (who also left the Amish) served in Iraq and Kuwait as a mechanic.

Yes I do agree with you on that, they should help defend their home land. They came to this country to avoid violence against them, but this is not always the best policy.

  • You have a cute little accent. Is this because the Amish speak German? I really don't know. But, when I saw that movie "Witness," way back in the day, I remember them speaking German. Do you speak German?

  • @michaeldj5 PA Dutch, a German dialect, but yes, I do speak it.

  • Dude you look like CM Punk with that hair do.

  • @halcaannen Thanks, I was growing my hair at the time, and later donated it.

  • did your cousin really get sawed in half? and you couldnt remember that?

  • @JackStrawGD It was before I was old enough to remember it.

  • Words most used in comments on this video

german week english shunned religion lifestyle wife family children church abuse water speak community although culture child amish parents slow

  • @bucklandb hahahahahah are you effing serious??? "i once had a failed marriage, but don't revisit it in thoughts or actions in anyway." really?? because you are totally revisiting it right now. quit projecting your own problems onto mrdeleted. boo you for thinking you're better than anyone else. and double boo you for thinking it was a good idea to allow those thoughts to leave your brain.

  • wait... isnt it against amish religion to have their faces video taped??? and what is there religion anyway?!?!?!!?!?!

  • @mitch4942 he left the amish community. and amish is the religion. i think it's a splinter of off the mennonites of germany and such.

  • @KeiSam7 Yes the Amish broke off the Mennonites a few centuries ago.

  • Hi Mrdeleted, I'm from the caribbean and heard of you guys in the 1980s.

You guys are the 8th wonder of the world to me..You are like no one else...

Unfortunately we get to see movies on the Amish on Lifetime television..haven't seen much of you recently

  • @MerchantofTarshish Yes I need to get better internet access again, but that may not happen till my kids get back cause until that happens, I will not get the social security money that I got when they were home. And to make matters worse, I have an upcoming 2000 dollar bill for a sewer repair, and no money to pay it with...

  • @mrdeleted get a job

  • @JackStrawGD I do have one, I work from home as a customer Service rep for a mid-size internet company.

  • I believe that you have a covering being in an Amish community. You said something about child abuse, but you didn't elaborate so I don't know what you mean. If your talking about spankings with clothes on, that's not child abuse. You have now gone into the world and you had better live a holy life for your own good. I met an ex-Amish guy in a hospital, and he was demon possessed. He had a popular Amish name.

  • @nogerdsurg I am not talking about spanking at all, I am talking about sexual, verbal, and physical abuse. If you do not believe me, check out AmishDeception's videos, he will tell you the same.

  • @nogerdsurg Are you stupid? Spanking with clothes on can absolutely constitute child abuse. It is just not sexual abuse. It depends on the intent of the abuser. I think you're just crazy lol.

  • I am a man seeking an ex-Amish woman who speaks Pennsylvania Dutch aka Deitsch fluently.

I speak English, German, and my favourite Schprooch, Pennsy Dutch.

  • @bucklandb Same here, but I think for those studying my culture my videos are a great way to learn more about the culture. If you think my past has no value to anyone, then STFU, cause it does matter to me, so I could care less what you think.

I do not have my identity just based on one thing, if you really watched my videos, most of them are of my family, but I still post videos about my people, which people love.

  • @bucklandb And you were born, live your life, and dwell on the life you live?

  • since i'm reaaaaalllly dumb, do amish use cars? i'm thinking no

  • @fashionbug9880 No, they use horse and buggy, although there are some uses for cars, like to have someone take them to a doctor, or in some orders they use trucks for their construction crews, but the they mostly would have the truck in someone else's name, and hire a driver to drive it.

  • I love how you still have a slight , Amish-y sounding voice. The way you say healthy , and everything , and is XD And several other words. I wish I had a more interesting accent like yours!

  • @Zompyric Thanks :)

  • Kannsh du noch Deitsh shwetza? Ich fa'shtay for woss du die amish karrich hushd fa'lussa wulla. Die Freiheid iss shay.

Die Religion kann en guudi ding sei, ovva sell iss nedd fer everybody, wayshd?

  • @Fersomling I can somewhat understand it spoken, but not written as well, so I need to use Google translator to find out what most German people write, although I could read the 1st sentence.

  • @Fersomling des isch koin Deitsch

  • @FacetiousJosh what?

  • @mrdeleted I said that what Fersomling wrote is not at all German...

  • @FacetiousJosh I was writing, not High German, not standard German, but Pennsylvania Dutch, also known as Pennsylvania German, which is an American language descended from Pfälzisch and English. It is written either with German or English sound values. In other words, sprechen is written either schwetza or shvetza . Aber is written either awwer or ovva, etc.

    Can you dig it, son?

  • @Fersomling hab schon verstanden. Verstehst du kein Spaß?

  • @FacetiousJosh : Ach, so!

  • @FacetiousJosh : Josh, Die Sprache, die ich geschrieben habe, heißt Pennsylvania-Deutsch. Diese Sprache habe ich mit englischsprachiger Aussprache geschrieben. Also hiernach die hochdeutsche Übersetzung.

  • Amish are so pious people, the most pious sect in christianity is the Amish

  • I was an Amish, but I have recently converted to ISLAM

  • @10metrocool : Bull. haha

  • He talks like I do...

  • you gave up being Amish? Are you crazy?

  • @3dartistguy thats what they tell me.

  • Interesting. Hope you will continue to make videos and discuss Amish life, pros and cons, as you see it, from your experience. Many are interested and enjoy learning about Amish, especially from those who have had an "inside view," so to speak. Keep up the good work! And maybe you could describe what benefits or advantages you feel you derived from growing up Amish? Thanks.

  • god hates the amish

  • @saintfredphelps god hates me

  • the amish are sexy, js

  • I have notice several criticisms of a percieved 'slow speach' Like many people who lived rural, its not that they speak slow but rather that city people have the attention span of a gnat.

  • for those interested, An Excellent Book on the Amish is called 'Amish Society' by John Hostetler. It goes into great detail about the different orthodoxy of higher and lower Amish orders.I first became interested in the Amish from admiration of their self suffiency and self reliance as a society.

  • Yes, the Amish may have issues which need sorting out, but they may be less severe than the issues of the disfunctional mainstream society, don't you think?

  • I would not really say one is worse then the other, but the cover-up of any problem makes the existing problems worse. If you don't allow the victim access to a Justus system, then they will be living in fear, sometimes for years longer then they would otherwise. You should google the Mary Byler case, where after leaving the Amish, she reported her brothers for rape, and the Amish came to court to cry for her brothers.

  • hi. I just wanna say I like that you can comment on your videos and annswer peoples questions, I don't see that alot anymore. my question was what is the schooling after eighth grade, do you go to a highschool? and do you learn enough to be able to go to a college? thanks

  • Not for Swartentruber Amish, but I think a few Amish groups do have high school education, but we Swartzentrubers did not go past 8 grades.

Thanks, I think it is important to keep on top of this if I put videos out and people have questions about them.

  • do Amish vote or pay taxes?

  • vote - no, taxes, yes

  • For Amish community, Once you choose outside world. I heard that Amish parents will never contact each others. It seems, the story was not a true because you can still see your Amish parents. And even took video of them? However, I heard that Amish people don't baptized baby because they want their child to be decide their own choice to be baptized. So, your parent will still think that you are never baptized even though you baptized yourself after living Amish community. Am I right?(ESL)

  • Go try them out yourself! JK I never dated an Amish girl, I found them to be too stuckup...

  • What faith do you belong to now?

  • The Christian faith.

  • I totall agree with u... Some things the Amish do are great but the rest is justbull shit tradition that Is impractical and dangerous, bytheway do you smoke (weed) or just talk slow? Cuz I think I sound just like U wen I'm baked

  • LOL I just talk slow. I have learned to talk faster in my videos since this video (this one will be 3 years old in 3 days LOL) A lot of people have hated on my videos cause of how I talk... But I still got a few million people to watch them, so I can't be too bad!

  • Amish or not, you are SO HANDSOME!

  • dude, I was brought up in the "2x2" or "TRUTH" religion. I never joined or "professed" in that belief, but it stole my childhood, stole my soul, stole my belief in god, stole my spirit. I understand how this intangible "power" can really mess you up, even years later, so badly that you can hardly exist in society.

  • Never heard of that one, but trust me, I know the feeling. Anyone who leave such a religion, will forever be an "outsider" from both the religion, and the world we are trying to make a life in. Beut we still need to try.

  • kool

  • ooooo u were Amish ohhhhhh lol u can b whatever( i like ur hair betta short)

  • thanks but i have not decided yet when i will donate my hair... i may do it soon, or maybe wait a while longer.

  • Would you go back to being amish if you could?

  • no, I have learned enough about life that that lifestyle does not appeal to me, but I am not against anyone that wants to join etc. I also think there are things we can learn from my people.

  • i think amish are so cute,if i was a christian i would be amish!

  • amish are too extreme.

if they didn't pressurize their children that much, they would stay.

  • sorry, you are sick! greatings from germanie.

  • Sorry you got the flu! Get better soon!

  • you are really sick , where ever you are.

  • I am right here. Where are you?

  • Thanks for letting me know yours is below 5.

  • You aware that lots of smart people have a slow talk? I don't understand where you draw the connection of speech & brain power.

  • I wasn't raised amish, but my parents were amish. They left the amish shortly after I was born, but my amish family was a big part of my life growing up, and still are. My mother's father was an amish preacher. I love and respect my people but hate the way they are treated as a tourist attraction, and how so many of them play into that.

  • So true, this whole area is a tourist attraction, mainly due to the Amish...

  • Geez write something down get some public speaking lessons something.Your talking about heavy issues but you sound like your about to fall into a coma!

  • Geez get an education.

  • Tell yo mamma to get me some more then, you know she has the good stuff!

  • Amish is just not the way to live.

The world is modern and thats how it is.

You dont do anything if your life ! literally !

    You cant avoid technology forever.

  • Ich habe respekt fuer Ihre Geschichte. Ich glaube dass das Leben der Amish ist sehr schwierig wegen die alte Traditionen.

  • omg youre a stoner????lol

  • Omg yes, I got some drugs from your mamma.

  • this dudes fucked up

  • Sounds like we have a lot in common!

  • I support amish peoples pride.

  • are you Native American? I have Native American background)

The Amish would say that they don't believe in having pride...

  • Just My idea name is "PRIDE". ok

thank you,,,so much. and I am so sorry.

I still support amish peoples. WHY Did some peoples don`t like something about amish peoples. I don`t like that.

    Please leaveamish peoples alone...

    thank you,,,,

    Native Pride,

  • Yeah, I part of native american indian.

    I don`t know what of tribe ?

and I want give to you about my text or telephone... How private ?

    you are nice man...Cool.

Plan I want to join amish or mo_ _ ? do you know mean ?

    Native Pride,

  • I was from Delaware Tribe, who controlled this area long time ago.

You want to join the Amish?

  • WOW, you are part of tribe. Cool. Plan I want to the amish or mo_ _ _ ? I hope so, government of grant pay to my farmer. I wish.

    Native Pride,

    I am deaf and smart.

  • uhh, you dont speak much english do you?

  • and maroon

  • After you left armish people you found a new friend called cocaine? you look like you are on something ..

  • Yes, thank your momma for the Coke.

  • Thats not cool to say

  • He hasnt much exposure to talking as you have. Not to the outside world. The communication is different

  • As he said...you do the same thing. Away from the rest of the world. The Amish don't follow the culture or even use the modernizations we use like cars, telephones, etc. So imagine that. How would you act if you did that for 18 years and the only people you've ever spoke to where Amish?

Read more before you say something offensive.

  • AS a former Old Order Mennonite who left when I was 18, I hate to tell you but you will always be Amish inside. You are now Amish by culture not by religion.. There will always be that Amish child/youth inside . You may now become a thousand other things but never a native-born anything else except Amish. You have not shared a common culture with other Americans before the age of 18, the formative years. Speaking from experience, 42 years later,My deepest sympathy, Ruth Naomi

  • No reason to hate to tell me that, it is not that I am not glad that was Amish, it is just that I am also glad I am out of it too.

  • so it is impossible to stop being directed by how we have been "formed" before age 18? there is no absolute rule, we can change ourselves. we may not forget, but at least stop allowing ourselves to be directed by childhood programming.

  • Hey Ruth...Im not either. Im just a guy browsing and thinking that the culture is interesting.

But, I definitely agree. Those years birth - adulthood are extremely critical, and a transformation will be extremely difficult afterwards.

  • fuck amish people you in breed bastards!

  • Yes we do screw, but we also block bastards like you.

  • Were you ever actually Amish if you never joined the church when the time came? I know that voluntarily joining the church is a big part of the Amish and Mennonite beliefs system and not a decision to be taken lightly, hence, leaving the decision open until they are adults, so where does that leave the children? Are they still considered Amish even though they haven't made the decision to join the church.

I've studied theology for over 25 years and never thought about that. Isn't that strange?

  • Well yes we are conciered Amish, but if we leave, we are concidered "ex-amish" or they use a word that translates as "going high" meaning that we are a "higher" church then the Amish, not sure if this makes sense, but that is what the Swartzentrubers called it. They also called the other Orders "south churches", which sounds wierd when you translate it...

  • Oh, this wasn´t addressed to you, Joseph, this was a response to manohar below who called your ppl "bastards". That made me upset..I´m sorry you thought it was addressed to you. I hit the answer button on manohar´s post, but youtube was working wrong

  • Don't worry about it, some people will never understand. If I could not handle the critics and haters, I would not be posting on youtube. But I don't care that much anymore, after a few hate posts, they get blocked and I keep on going.

  • You should be seriously ashmed to call someone you don´t know something like that, no matter where and who the person is. What is wrong with you? Show some respect, man!

  • This was addressed to manohar

  • I've always been fascinated and admired the Amish. I remember an incident a few years ago in Niagara Falls when a few "English" kids were mocking a few Amish teens walking by. Of course I'm not one who enjoys ignorance so I let the "English" kids know they had a lot pf growing up to do. They said nothing and walked away. The Amish teens thanked me and we had a great chat. Amish are great people!

  • Thanks, cool story, ignorance only hurts people...

  • I know you may not consider this a polite question, so please be patient. I am interested in hearing stories of people who come out as gay or lesbian. Is it any easier for ex-Amish to come out--because everyone who leaves their Amish family have to "come out" to the English world. If it is harder for young people to come out as gay or lesbian, why is it harder?

  • I am not aware of any Amish or former-Amish at this time who are openly gay. I was told at one time that there was a guy who was gay, but he is now married, so i am not sure if it was true, or if people were just making fun of him.

  • Marriage does not necessarily mean a person is heterosexual.

Anyway, thanks for answering my question.

I have been asking the Amish in my community and people seem able to consider the thought of Gay Amish, but few have heard of anyone getting "caught" gay. Otherwise, the response I have heard across the board is that there are no Gay Amish.

But no Gays in a community of good people does not make sense.

  • That was not all that was rumoured about this guy, it was said that he had been casterated as a child, but now that he has children, I can't see how that could be true. So if he was gay and turned straight, that is posible, but the castration sounds far-fetched.

  • i am sorry

    about those terrible accidents

  • If someone were to leave the Amish lifestyle, will the ever be able to change their mind and go back??

  • Yes, they can, although if they were a member of the church (babtised), they would have to confess to the church all that they had done.

  • Sorry to hear about your Dad. I hope in time he has full recovery. Our prayers are with him.. Thanks for the note

  • Thanks for the support, he is in mine as well.

  • sorry but holy crap you are the most slowest talking person in the world.. i only got to 2.23..zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • Good for you.

  • put closed captioned in here video

  • What for? I speak English in this video don't I?

  • hi mr,

the closed captioned is a reading on the version for the deaf / hearing impaired person

  • Oh OK well I have looked into that before, never could figure it out how to do it, but I can look into it again...

  • you see what religious indoctrination can do to people, no offence brother but your communication is deprived from your up bringing, you would admit to that right?

i applaud you for your outspeaking of religious indoctrination...

anyone who denys fact for god is a fool.

i think god will back me up on that.

  • Yes I would be the first to say I am not a good speaker, but I can still talk, and youtube is a great place to talk about this stuff.

  • You are not a bad speaker at all. this is another example of how people veiw the world from narrow experience. We all have a narrow band of experience. i am referring to comment on the manner of your speech. It is all nonsense. it's fine.

  • i think the amish are hoping in tradition to get them to heaven. it wont work

  • Exactly

  • Do you ever miss being Amish? Or certain aspects of it?

  • I miss the cooking :-) But tonight we just had a cookout and it was great.

  • We had to buy a tiller, riding lawn mower, trimming lawn mower, weed eater, bush trimmer, wire fencing for the garden, stakes, we had to get a new grill, what's a man w/o his grill, a new freezer for extra food storage, etc. And BTW, to anyone that buys a house, if the house has been sitting for more than a year unoccupied, you will have to replace the floaters/flushers in a toilet, they dry rot and when you first throw on the water, expect flood city!

  • I payed 1K for a new water pump

1K for a new water tank (actually I have 400 to go on that bill)

and 1K on turning on the waste water cause the land owners were behind on their bills. It is enough to make you go broke, but as you said, it is all worth it at the end of the day.

  • $1K for a water pump, that's HIGH...you can get a 2 HP water pump here for $189. You can get a plastic water tank, which actually lasts longer and is multipurpose and cleaner for about $400.

  • It was not just for the pump (they installed it at 200/hour) and the tank was a pressure tank which was put underground - the old one was shot and kept triggering the pump to make it run, which is why the pump crashed.

  • Think about it.. The amish are in better shape than most of us right now with this econemy. My dad was raised in Landcaster Pa. Amish country. Yes I do worry about them traveling the buggys on the roads when you come up on them over a hill. Has happened to us several times. Alot of ppl don;t understand the amish. Its a interesting lifestyle. May not be for everyone. But some of the best Bakery and veggies I have bought were from there roadside stands.

  • Exactly. I admire them for their history and hard work, but safety is a major concern that they seem to be forgetting. My dad is paralised cause of the buggy he and I were in driving to work got hit by a car. I was only 16 then, and now I am 28 and he still has not regained a whole lot of use of his hands. I called him the other day as he was in the hospital and he could barely hold the phone. He ended up having a nurse hold the phone for him so we could talk.

  • This guy is a FRAUD. im an 18 year old amish kid living with my amish parents. an ive NEVER heard of any amish abusing their childern. spanking yes, abusing no. maybe in this screwed up country called america, maybe SPANKING is considered child abuse. maybe if more people would discipline their childern .this country wouldnt be going down the toilet.

  • I am the fraud for telling the truth? Truth is, most people who are from other sects of the Amish are less likely to witness abuse then the Swartzentrubers. Infact some Old Order lady was talking to my wife the other week, and she knew about the Swartzentruber's problems.

  • You should be able to reply here. I did not block you. :-)

  • Who was blocked or mentioned blocked?

  • buckeyesfan245 thought I had blocked her from commenting, but I had not, she pmed me and asked, but she could not have done that if had blocked her. Blocking blocks messages and comments as well as it also does not allow the user to add the other user as a friend or sub to them. (I have tested it)

  • I searched for Aaron's Way, a tv show from the early 90's with Merlin Olsen in it. I'm still rather fond of shows like that. I still watch Little House on the Prairie as well. I guess you could say I'm a bit old fashioned still. We ride on wagon trains for recreation and my parents play music, called old time.

  • Nice, I think the lifestyle is great, but as with any closed group like that, the problems just get worse then if they were open to allow outside people to see the problems they have. It is like government, when we don't hold them accountable, the problem gets bigger.

But thanks for watching and hope I helped you in some way :-)

  • Well, I don't think I needed helped in any way. I knew enough about the Amish way of life. I personally think you don't have to join the Amish to live the lifestyle. You could always begin your own order or a branch of the order. If you were inclined to that.

  • True, there are many others besides the Swarzentrubers...

The lifestyle can be lived even if we have technology, just take the good, and leave the bad.

  • I have a friend that has Mennonite parents, she left the Mennonites at an early age because she was molested as a child by relatives and her parents refused to pursue charges.

  • That is too bad, it is simular to Mary Byler's story, she was raped for years by her 2 or 3 brothers, and the one got one year, but is being let out during the day to farm his farm, and the only reason they were charged is that she left after she was oldenough to do so.

  • I didn't even know that my friend Amy was previously Mennonite or that she had been raped until I had known her for 28 years. We had met her when she was in college and I was about 3 or 4 years old. She married a man from Germany that she met 1 time and they've been married ever since. They had 1 daughter and she was always so absolutely protective, home schooled her, never allowed make up, she was only allowed to wear dresses, etc. My friend sews & makes all her own clothes.

  • Mary filed charges and here people came to court crying for her brothers instead of her. That is wierd, and disturbing to me that they did not support the victom, but instead supported the guys that did it.

  • Sounds like what happened to me. I was married once before and decided to leave him because he was mentally and physically abusive. He raped me while I was in the process of moving and the authorities would not press charges because he was still "my husband". In the state of NC there isn't a law against rape, it's called a "crime against nature" and isn't enforced. My ex husband even admitted what he did to me, he never pulled a day.

  • Thats sad. I can not imagine what a woman goes through when that happens.

  • You know, you have a LOT of video time on YouTube. :) Between gardening, cooking, cleaning, & having kids, I never have time for internet activities. I still have about half a garden to plant, so I'll be consumed for a while.

  • Well I do this for a side income, so actually make some money which I want to donate some to charity, so it is not all for play, but I do want to help others through these videos too.

I also work 3 and 4 days a week, 12 hours a day, so I get a few days off a week to work online. Today is one such day, but then I have a 3 day work week coming tomorrow.

  • I work on ChaCha making extra money. It's wonderful and is actually a partner to my daytime job. I only have to do it when I've got the time, which isn't much as of late. Garden is 3/4 finished. I should probably do a YouTube on the progress of my garden...lol. It has been a lot of hard work. On a lighter note, I found a robin's nest on a light fixture outside my house, 3 robin babies & a half hatched egg, so soon to be 4. I think it's wonderful.

  • Cool, yeah, make some videos, it is always nice to get to watch videosfrom people who comment my videos.

BTW I have an old friend Deb who raises goats. I helped her with her domain for her website. The address is HarvestHillsFarm[.]com

  • I haven't quite mastered the video making process...lol. Here is something that I was wondering. There are branches of the Amish every where. Most people think of the ones in PA when they think Amish, but there are groups in many places, NC, TN, OH, IN, MD, etc...I wonder if they are all related to each other and just branched off?
