Just because someone does a cover doesn't mean they are trying to "out do" the original artist. They are taking the song and interpreting it in a way that fits their style. It means they RESPECT the song and the original artist.

I gave this song an honest, open minded chance, in spite of the fact that the song title has already been taken by Pink Floyd... but I put that aside and hoped for the best, and I got 1 chord embedded in 2 measures, repeated ad nauseam with a mediocre Springsteen impersonator on vocals. I'm really sorry, as I had hoped to love it, but I didn't.
