@zullone if you're so much older and wiser then you wouldn't be making such statements. If originality was needed then bands like Asking Alexandria and We Are the Ocean would not be successful. Fact is that nowadays in the metal scene you conform to a commercial core sound, or you'll get buried in the wayside, it's rare for an original band to do it. Even in the prog scene. And you're going to flame me for this, because you've won't like this, but non of the bands you listed are original.

@zullone I'm failing to see how I lack an understanding of music, and the appllication musical theory by knowing what is an isn't original. And, for example here, yes Thyateria aren't the most original band. But they're a damn sight better than a lot of the bollocks that you've listed that you consider original. I doubt you can give me more than a couple...every band takes something they like from their favorite bands and incorporates it into their music. If you were in a band, instead of sniveling about bands that are more successful than you can even dream to be, you might appreciate the work these guys put into their music.
