The reason the dog is opening his mouth in the stream of the water is because he's trying to drink it. If he was pissed at the watergun shooter, he'd be a lot closer to him instead of just jumping in front of the water. The dog is entirely fine.
This movie was funny, but not the best Doom spoof. I got a chuckle at the movie, then I read everyone else's review, and it made it that much more hilarious.
