  • HI my heart goes out to you and every one over there .. I am from christchurch and am so worried about my family and friends there i have hard from most that they are ok etc but alot of their homes have had it ....the fact that it has flooded is a worry :( ...thankyou for shareing this on here ....Olivia Mulgrew

  • woohoo the aftershocks keep rocking us we live in birch street the flooding was a nightmare I had to drive on the footpath to not drown the car!

  • We woke up to find both electric tooth brushes had fallen over, over 1000 shocks now and our little family is getting slightly miffed. They don't call this place Gods own for nothing. If it carries on this city will be worth nothing and abandoned within 2 years imo.

  • thanks for sharing, i was not here for the quake....my mum lives in bexley.....;(

  • Did A Tsunami hit after this earthquake? They didn't cover this on the news in the U.S. and I don't understand why. They covered the earthquake that happened in Haiti but not in Christchurch New Zealand. My heart goes out to you.

  • No Tsunami, the earthquake was 40 km inland, West of Chirstchruch. We are a fortunate country in that our earthquake building standards are very high. Also the time that the earthquake struck (4.35 am) was quiet. There were no fatalities! I think this is why there is litte worldwide coverage. Traumatic to the residents here, but now getting on with it. We have had many aftershocks, over 600.

  • @Griffboyz

I grew up in Southern California in the U.S. and we used to have earthquakes all the time. So much so, I got used to them. But now that I live in Las Vegas NV I never experience any earthquakes. But most of the earthquakes in California that I can remember were in the early morning like 3 and 4am. Thank God you are all right.

  • @Griffboyz No there wasn't a tsunami. It was centred inland. There have been more aftershocks tonight. I work at the chch ice skating rink and it was rocking really badly

  • @checkers1245 ..reason is no one died ..so its not important to the media...if it had happened 4 hours earlier or later there would have been a few deaths.I live 30ks from the epicentre of this quake but the city took most of the brunt of it.N

  • @checkers1245 No Tsunami, water mains were broken meaning water poured out onto the streets. Also, liquefaction came up through cracks. Liquefaction is when sand is brought up from the shaking. You can try this yourself by putting some sand in a container with a little bit of water and shaking it, you can see that the water rises.

  • Hope y'all are back home and safe now-- although I know it's taking a while to get services restored in some areas.

Wishing you luck from California. We've had a few strong shakers this year but have mostly been spared any damage.

  • I was house sitting in morganwood street. Haven't seen anything like it. Great footage. Hope you came off lightly!

  • My Flower garden was partly destroyed in the earthquake and my friends roller blades are missing.

  • Good thoughts to you. I've experienced a similar quake 20 years ago and know it shakes you to your soul. So glad there have been no fatalities! The aftershocks will end some day, believe me.

  • I hope it all works out for you!

  • Bexley got wasted

  • nope a wise man will know if he is ready not that hes always ready

  • A wise man is always ready....
