Neither National Debt growth nor inflation are coincident with Nixon taking the dollar off the gold standard.

The major aspect of this financial reform is setting up a "risk/fail" pool of money that wall street companies will have to pay into (not the government, and not taxpayers). That pool of money would then get tapped in the future if/when wall street companies go under. Basically Obama is forcing wall street to purchase bankruptcy insurance from themselves =P
