I'm a heavy smoker, so when I went to fog my sensor, it turned grey.
I took it too the doctor and they xrayed my camera and noticed that it only had a few more shutter cycles of life left because it now has sensor cancer.
Good video, removes the mystery of sensor cleaning. I would guess that if your sensor has oily contaminants then fluids would need to be considered. Oh, and Mr. 4 bodies commentor below - I think a package of these swabs is cheaper than lugging all those camera bodies.
I had my 5D Mark II since 2009. There's no dust on my sensor. There's not even dust on the mirror nor the prism. Never had to clean, never touched anything inside. I do not interchange my lenses on the field as i have 4 bodies, each with the lens I want there.
Adding to my comment about my red dot in my videos...yes it is also in my pics...but you cannot see it if you shoot a white card (pics) ...if I shoot a pic of say...a dark board...it's right there.
Peter..you've got Tom Snyder hair...I decided that since I have similar qualities, to keep my sides shorter and comb them back instead of having them wool out....it's a better look. Even the dykes in my neighborhood think so....
ALso, try this stuff... "It's A Ten" about a quarter of an inch of this great product into the palms, then a light move through the hair...and you're dialed. Not nailed....
I have one red dot that seems permanent on my mark II videos. THe automatic canon sensor cleaning from turning the unit off and on does not affect it. Any tips?
For those worried about it, its best not to be overly concerned with cleaning your sensor unless it actually needs it. If you got 1 or 2 specs of dust after performing a test with a white sheet of paper then just leave it. Unless you shoot regularly at like F16+ you wont even see it in your photos. Even if you do, it takes a couple seconds to remove in photoshop (or whatever software you use) with the healing brush.
Shoot video with the 5D and see how obvious and annoying a dust spec is when shooting above f8. The healing brush in photoshop certainly doesn't work for motion pictures.
does this system work for small areas that look like rain drops when dried out (are not actually raind drops but look like that), not only for dust particles?

Aside from the modern tech, this seriously reminds me of a SCTV skit with John Candy from the early 80's. Johnny LaRue!

@sclogse1 - One of the sensor pixels has gone bad. There is no fix for this unless you use clone tool or healing brush in photoshop.

Does the Sensor Sweep come lubricated, or does the fogging of the sensor provide moisture? What about oil that may be on the sensor?

Very sad, I'm Nikon user. :)

@hutdockz
It's pretty much the same process, you just have to look in your user manual to find out how to use the mirror lock up function.

@HansomArdvark I don't think he was talking about sensor cleaning. I think he just meant in general, it's sad that he is a Nikon user.

Didn't get that the spit comment was ironic until I read the next post.
He is of course just puttinga light amount of fog by using his breath.
