Instead they start with, "Hello my name is ____. Thanks for having me. That's boring. Starting with a Pow! means starting in a way the audience isn't expecting. Tell a story, use a statistic, show something visual - anything that will grab the audiences' attention.
I completely agree. In fact, when I present I have taken this advice and it made a massive difference. Additionally, I took a lot of stuff from a guy called Tom Breeze. His body language stuff is really good.
