  • Even though I never really learned it I always felt that Miyavi was pretty egoistic when he called his own Movie about himself "ORE SAMA"... XD

  • @SalaTrash that reminds me of prussia on hetalia

  • She forgot Atashi which is what females and gay men use.

  • @Kingofprinces85 eeee...the prime ministrer use watashi.....

  • "You can never be too polite"

    that sounds wrong, i've been told that

    a japanese person can be offended if you are too polite

    due to how the social ranking works in japan

  • polite tea?

  • わたし わ マヌエル です (my name is manuel) is this correct?

  • @XhydraX01225 It is わたし は サムエル です. We use the particle は(HA) though it pronounce WA. Don't ask why but it works that way LOL!!!

  • @XhydraX01225 No, it is not even what AimThemopheles said, it is "わたし の なまえ は マムエル です。” In Kanji that would be "私の名前はマムエルです。”

  • @XhydraX01225 Actually instead of わ the hiragana for は(HA) should be used. は is a particle that is used to mark the topic of a sentence.

  • Watashi mo ureshii! ^^ Arigatou for uploading your videos!

  • I loved that "Watakushi" DX

  • oh cool thank you

  • japan is bigggg!!!!

  • HOW DO YA SAY THE IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR HOURS AND I CANT FIND IT

  • @kengisamasempisankun Icy: You're asking about the word 'the'? Well it doesn't exist in Japanese. Same with 'a'. So if you wanted to say 'there is a dog'(犬があります) you would basically be saying 'there is dog'.

  • @KandMIcyFire YOU wouldn't say "arimasu" because this word is for inanimate things.you would say "imasu" which is for animate things.... ^_^ かわいい ですね.

  • @J0K3R1n4 Icy: I know! DX I realized that after I posted it. I was like, "NUH!! I don't deserve to learn Japanese! DX" LOL Thanks anyway though. :3

  • @KandMIcyFire xD always here my friend..I started learning Japanese a few weeks ago and I love this language so much that I think I made a really noticeable progress in learning it trough the internet...If you really like something then no one can prevent you from doing it..:)how long is it since you started learning this fascinating language?:)

  • @J0K3R1n4 Icy: I'm learning it at my online school and I'm picking it up so quickly(by now I have あります and います down! :D). I just started in late August(the begining of the school year) and I find I am learning more Japanese than Spanish(when I took Spanish one year). It's a fairly easy language. :3 I can't wait to see how well I'll be able to speak it when I get to my senior year(I'm a sophmore now). :O

  • @KandMIcyFire Im SO glad that there are so determined people!!!well done to you!i'm so proud of you!!!!can you tell me how the online school works?maybe i can learn something from there too!!!

  • Watashi wa Vasquez o niku ni ii david ga watashi o

  • Has anyone hear od Hideo Kojima?

  • @signupsigma when you said that made me think of the drama -_- with hideo

  • @AshleyEatsRainbows14

    he does drama for video games. Novellas.

    Japanese is pretty hard, isn't it? All the verb and adjective conjugations. In english, to be polite, you just need to add the word "please" to your sentence. There's not need to conjugage a bunch of words to be polite.

  • @signupsigma yes lol

  • is that utada hikaru really ??????

  • i thought when u say ( ore wa ) is so casual because i hear it alot and any 1 can use it .....loool good thing that i watched your video ....and thx rof aploading

  • Is WARE (我) ever used in Japanese?

  • @chewkc65 Yes, you only need to add "wa" to Ware (Ware wa) and then it means simply "We". Hope I helped, you.

  • @chewkc65 Don't use "ware", unless you want to sound like an old man. Say "watashi", "boku", or "ore"(only use ore with friends) or if you are a girl, try "atashi" or "uchi" (I believe uchi is more southern sounding, osaka area).

  • Days ago... I lost hope in learning japanese but this... I GOTTA LEARN IT

  • Im gonna creep my mum out by saying Tea? Mother :D Wahaha cnt wait to try this out i love these lessons they are great :) It helps to just hear how it is correctly pronounced too ^,^

  • Well I can learn japanese if I can go in Japan.

  • Boku no Magnum ^ ^

  • how can you not learn Japanese from listing from these vid's............good job

  • Japanese peoople are so polite. It's admirable X3

  • Ome! Omae! Onore! Osan!

    Yes, the 'O' is very important :D

    Joodan desuyo!!!

    Great videos!

  • In the serie Hana Kimi they use "Ore" a lot =) Everyone who loves Japan and Japanese should watch that drama serie =)

  • Japanese is one on the languages I reallllllly want to learn!

  • I think Kimi was used by female saying "I" I think it's the opposite of boku??? well, I sometimes heard them saying kimi... please correct me if I'm wrong.

  • @JillValentine1974 Kimi, means 'you' but it is very rude, well unless you have some sort of authority, a boss might youse Kimi when speaking to you.

  • @oblivion1717 oh,,,.. oh I see... thanks!

  • so... women can't say "boku" or "ore"? isn't that kind of sixist? I'm always gonna use boku and ore if i don't have to be polite..... stupid sexist bastards.....

    :P

  • it's not really sexist because they have lots of words males can't say as well its like saying mr or mrs in english, in Japan they use the same title for both.

  • women can use kimi and atashi.

    older men use washi

    and almost all of them will speak english as best they can.

  • @lesNor boku is used by males to be more manly.

  • I know, I heard her, but I'm gonna say it anyway

  • So I'm assuming you refer to yourself as a "he" in English?

  • ...

    sure, whatever :P

  • How do you spell mother in Japanese?

  • kasa

  • Kaasan..O-Kaasan

  • i wish my school taght us how to speak japanese insted of germen and mandren chainese

  • watakushi = Ones self

    watashi = I

    Boku = me

    Ore = Dude

    kinda like that?

  • i think boku is the masculine form of I and watashi is feminine or masculine polite. If I'm wrong please correct me

  • To clarify,

    Watakshi = "I" (very polite)

    Watashi = "I" (normal polite)

    Boke = "I" (male only, casual)

    Ore = "I" (male only, very casual, similar to English "dude" as its not the correct use for the word, its just colloquial)

    My examples bellow were supposed to explain this, but might have just caused more confusion.

  • i wonder when i'll find a japanese man/lady to add to msn for help XD

  • if i were to say 'my heart', would it be " watashi no kokoro "?

  • yes.

  • thank you!

  • Man, I feel we Americans are real assholes.

  • yeah, most americans are. and for some reason, they're even proud of being that way. american's confuse rudeness for individuality and strength.

  • Isn't watashi only for girls? that's wat I saw on Hana Kimi...

  • Ha ha, I saw it on Hana Kimi, too. "Watashi" is used by boys too. But I guess, because the University in that J- Dorama is only for boys, all boys say "boku" or "ore". So it is weird, if on "boy" use "watashi"...

  • o... now I get it...

  • i think you are confused with atashi

  • wat so is der a difference between atashi n watashi?

  • atashi is the informal female form

    watashi is formal and can be used by male and female

  • k thx 4 explainin it 2 me !! r u a japanese btw ??

  • one is more casual then the other. The most polite is "watakushi" <---I never met anyone who uses this

  • I wonder since these videos are on another website if she teaches how to write in kanji and stuff.

  • Boku wa kuma

    Kuma

    Kuma

    Kuma

    Utada Hikaru!

    Boku "I" Rememberd that lol!

  • doesnt kuma mean bear??? im lost!

  • yes Kuma means bear....Utada Hikaru's song, Boku Wa Kuma...

    Boku=i

    Wa=Subject Marker

    Kuma=Bear

    =] hope that helped

  • i did,thank a lot! ^.^

  • Utada Hikaru rocks!

  • @452donny lol

  • Its Yuu Asakura Sensei ehhehe

  • Is there a show that teaches you how to say 'what is your name?'

  • I'm not too sure whether an episode for this exists. But you can use

    お名前は?

    おなまえは?

    o namae wa?

  • can we use one of these? omae no namae wa or anata no namae wa nan desu ka

  • anata no namaea nane desuka? = what is your name?

  • anata no namae wa nan desuka.

    The above sentence is gramatically correct too. However, the tone is much more aggresive and less polite in the Japanese context.

  • omae no namae wa is for casual man to man talk like you don't care about politeness you just want his name , you don't ask a girl or a kid with that sentence at least that is what I think.

  • 亜ーあの 先生ーさん あなた 輪 渇悔い ーデス

  • Watakushi wa otoko desu. Ano subarashii !

  • what did that mean :p ? i know that watakushi wa ment i am but whats the rest ;p

  • Oh, that's meant:

    I'm man, that's wonderful !

  • oooh

    now i get it

    sooo...

    wut does "bokusatsu tenchi dokuro-chan" means?

  • it looks like she is sad or depressed, thats sad

  • how do i say we and you in plural? :S

  • I think you just need to add "tachi" for example Oretachi means We....

  • well as you are speaking in english it doesnt quite make sense. There are obviously cultural differences and being polite is important.I think its good that she stresses the importance of being polite. Theres nothing worse then being misinterperated as being rude.

  • Exactly. It doesn't quite make sense to speak in a way like that to your close friend. And that is exactly my point. Maybe there are cultural differences between countries, but the basic idea is the same; You always talk in a more respectful manner to, let's say, your boss compared to your family and close friends, right? And yes, there is no fun in being misinterpreted. And if you are too polite to your friends or family, they will think that you are being sarcastic or something.

  • Well considering that they call even their highschool classmates by their family names.....

  • Maybe there is a difference between different cultures as for which level of politeness is appropriate at a certain situation. But my point is that all cultures have, more or less, different levels in politeness. And of course, noone wants to be mistaken for being a rude person, which will happen if you're not being polite when you should. But noone wants to be mistaken for being sarcastic either, which will happen if you're too polite when you shouldn't. Just common sense, really. :)

  • Japanese people would consider excessive explanations and excessive argumentations as rude, while because many Americans love being heard or love conquering others in debate, they tend not to find this line of conversation as rude.

  • Well this is a Japanese lesson and not an American lesson. Ease up.

  • when you first go to japan, or when you first start learning japanese more than likely you won't have close friends right off the bat. the best way to learn casual speech is to learn polite and learn it from others as you become closer and therefore more casual in speech.

  • liking the naruto i see hmm? lol just had to say tht :P

  • ohh. now i know why in the movie, memoirs of a geisha, they call her okasan. i thought that was her name for some reason =p arigatou

  • lol I love the end where you said, "You can never be too polite". :D

  • I'm learning many words T_T...

    I'm so happy...

  • thanks for the video ^_^

  • Watakushi, watashi-polite gender neutral.

    Boku, ore-masculine but sometimes young women and girls use boku.

    Atashi-feminine, males never say atashi.

    Anata, kimi, omae- meaning you. But never use these if you know the person's name, use their name instead.

    Ka naa-M, kashira-F. Sentence ending means I wonder? Women will sometimes use ka naa. Men never say kashira.

    Datte-M, desu tte-F. Sentence ending meaning I heard that...

  • english: I.

  • It's so clear understanding the basics when watching the video that reading a book. Thanks I'm gonna look through the others lessons of yours.
