What's annoying is the game makes characters say the SAME DARN THINGS to each other regardless of who you're speaking to.

However, Misato/Kaji and Kaji/Asuka have specifically set special dialogue when either person says they like the other (hugs/kisses/etc is only with High Relationships), everybody else has the standard dialogue. I forget who else fits this category, but Ritsuko/Gendo might.

To clarify, this convenience store stuff isn't a date, it's just the the regular gameplay of characters bumping into each other at different places in Tokyo-3 (I have BOTH ports so I know).

What's awesome with the game is if you raise a high enough relationship with ANYBODY, you can date them. The only exceptions are Gendo with Shinji (you can get an alternate good end of them fishing) and Pen-Pen with whoever who just hugs you and blushes at you (whoever your character is).

Hm. Unfortunately I was only able to get Gendo's Good End with the PS2 version of Eva2 though I cleared ALL the endings with the PSP port (pity I don't have a means of video-capturing either version, I'd love to fansub various scenes. ;_; )

Anyway, Shinji and Kaworu are just saying they're glad things could work out so Kaworu could fight alongside the humans and hopes Shinji and him will get along (a sentiment that Rei and MAYBE Asuka also say to Shinji after meeting them in the PS2 version).

Sorry, I have a habit of responding late to things, the footage is all from the PS2/PSP game called EVA2 (新世紀エヴァンゲリオン2 if you want to look it up).

Its only in Japanese, but the game was designed from interviews with Hideaki Anno and unused scripts so its the closest to a canonical what if (apart from Rebuild that is)...

My grasp of Japanese isn't great either but they do say they like/love(suki) each other more than once(the same kiss interaction you have with Rei and Asuka also takes place), and talk about various things, at one point it sounds like Shinji tries to complement Kaworu's looks but fumbles it...In short Shinji follows him around like a needy puppy.
