theres no such thing as a swimming lesson for a boxer. they were bred as work dogs and war dogs. the ability to swim is pretty well engrained in them.

@whoisthatguy10001 Not all of them. My boxer couldn't swim a stroke. His first time after we adopted him, he went in the pool and right to the bottom. He attempted to doggy paddle but to no help. I had to go in and get him. From that day on he wouldn't go near the pool, and when we did he would stand 20 feet away and bark like crazy trying to get us to come out.

Boxers used to be working dogs, so people would dock their tails/ears to prevent injury such as breaking and tearing. (Which can be quite easy for a boxer involved in hunting and other similar activities.) It's sort of a practice that people just continue now. A Boxer owner doesn't have to get the dog's tail cut.

I just previously had 2 boxers.. we put our 2nd one down yesterday, so now we have just one. Watching yours swim brought back good memories. It makes me laugh to think of Baron swim. Hes almost be vertical up in the water, and than clomp down on the water with his two front paws. Its was hilarious. <3 you Baron, RIP buddy.

after half a lifetime of breeding and raising dobermans, i was found by a boxer pup. she lived with me for 12 years and, although it was not love at first sight, i am now hopelessly a hostage of boxers! btw, boxers swim like rocks. they have little body fat with helps with floatation. invest in a good canine water preserver. they aren;'t really expensive and they allow the dog to relax and play in the water. even the most timid dog will learn to love the water.

Boxers have really dense bodies with no fluffy buoyant fur. I think this is why they instinctually fear water. The short snout probably has something to do with it too because long snout dogs can hold it over the water much easier.
