he forgot to do it three times. The first two are to pinch the tubes, and the third is to finally get it right. Also, he forgot the lengthy strings of swearing and hucking the tire irons as far as you can
Coolest technique in this video is getting te valve stem through. I always struggled with that. I did what he said and it popped right through. Nice! On to vid #3. Thanks!
Holy crap man... Just changed my tires. What a nightmare. Thanks for the video, it was very helpful, but would you mind doing that in a living room floor with inexpensive tire irons for your next video...? LOL...
there is no such thing as a $400 tire. Even the best tires only cost $100, shit I just bought a Pirelli Scorpion for $70, like the man said, if you are struggling, check your technique!!!
I can now change my tires a lot easier but, you notice the width of his tyre, you can easily get your hand in. Try doing that on a 3 x 18 one, talk about pinched fingers. The knack about inserting the valve, DOES WORK.
@davison1021 If your knobs are cracking, change your tire compound to softer, and stop punching it on the road if you are doing that, thats not realy normal but it has happened to me, specially on an lod dry, hard compound tire
I'm glad I now know how to properly change a tire. Last time it took about an hour just to get the tire on, let alone the tube in, and the tube was completley flat also. Then when it was finally finished, the tube had a hole in it : D
just followed this awesome vid, got all the way to the end and must of nicked me bastard tube levering last side over :( disheartening but will smash it tomorrow.
good vid but i just put a set of kenda millvilles on today and they are stiff as hell, they never went anywhere near as easy as they did in the video, took 4 hands to muscle em in...and thats going step by step
@slayerwawa ohh i had a kenda tire once...... fucking most stuborn tire ever! i took it to the stealership and it took 3 grown men to muscle it in 30min job..... ouch my wallet
Bro ur going waaay to fast . i know you probly do this a gazillion times a day , but some off us are doing this for the first time . i am now really irritated from tring to get the tire onto the rim for an hour . plus my rim is now pretty scratched up !! you may have the "trick" down but ive watched the vid several times and dont seem to be able to figure it out ..
That tire looks like a rubber band compared to the 12" I'm trying to install on a pitbike. His tire is floppy and about 10% bigger compared to the rim in relative terms.
0r, if I'm strurggling I'm using a much more solid wall 120+(4") enduro or road/trail tyre. That tyre looks like putty compared to the one I've just put on.
After destroying two tubes and watching the crap videos on this site I finally came across this one with Doug Schopinsky. Man this guy is right on the money. I did my final attempt last night and the new tube install was a piece of cake. The little tricks he shows in the video are what made it next to effortless.
If you follow this guys instructions to the "T" you'll have no problem.
Great video and now I have no worries if I ever have to change out a tube or tire.
Stuffing the tube back in the tire has been probably the most frustrating thing I have ever done in my life, my tires were very narrow on the insides... ugh....
thank you soooo much for posting this video!!!! it helped so much in installing my rear drz 400 tire. one thing you could have mensioned is that when making the bead of the tire seal against the rim its important to have lube on the bead that way it easily slides and seals in place.
and when your done doing that (looks way to easy) put a lot of air in it so the tire will stretch on the right way! tighten up the rimrock and put the right amount of air in it
Hmm very useful advice I took close to 3 hours to change a tyre yesterday , due to poor technique ie no lube on the tyre to help it slide on and putting in a completely flat inner tube rather than half inflating . I feel such a nonce , excellent advice!
great video but it's still a pain in the ass to mount a 120/80-12 street tire on a pit bike rim, that rubber is STIFF and you gotta pull the bead in so far to get it on the 1.6" rim.
great vid thanks man!!....while were on the topic of tires what does everyone recoment for a hard compond tire for a rear tire 110/90-19 thanks everyone in advance!!
you can use large screwdrivers, but you run the risk of pinch flats, by far the worst thing about changing a tire is pinching the tube when you install it, tire irons have smooth rounded edges
I would check rockymountainatv they have tire irons very cheap
"if its dificult your doing something wrong"100%true statement.i went to the swapmeet got an old tire and rim, practiced, and now i have changed so many tires on my friends bikes its no hassle.saludos, tecate mexico.
This is one of the most useful vids on you tube. Thanks heaps. When I follow these instructions my "technique" improved dramatically. Now all the guys get me to change the tyres. There are tricks, even though you say there isn't - use windex, use baby powder to lube the tube, inflate the tube to a certain point. Without these hints tyre changing is a pain in the arse. This makes it easy as. Cheers
there are many vids on utube about how to change tires, this one is by far the best, cause there are no parts skipped, it may make the video a lil longer but its realy clear
after watching and practicing this i realized the key is to make sure the bead always stays as close to the bottom of the bowl as it can.this makes the bead feel looser when prying on it.
