  • i miss this dashboard layout...

  • the only thing that makes me like hdmi better is that it supports surround sound audio and video through the one cable.... other than that they both can pull off 1080P (provided that your tv supports 1080P through component, which most don't) and thus both look excatly the same to me... it's just ones analog and the other digital

  • Thanks....

  • This really helped, thanks! :D Btw, you kinda look like Jorma from TheLonelyIsland.

  • kind of a difference... whats the difference between 1080p and 1080i?

  • @oWARF4REo 1080p refers to the size of the resolution 1920x1080 and the p stands for progressive. 1080i is the same but the i stands for interlaced. In my opinion progressive is 100 times better than interlaced. Hope that helped

  • man, i kinda miss the old dashboard sometimes xD

  • You TV wont block component since it is Analog where as HMDI is digital so the HDCP does not affect Component just to clear this up

  • @AleisterBane "HDMI" fix'd

  • Best Comparison

1080 Comonent does 24hz or 60hz just like HDMI

    Quality the Same.

But like you said uses 4 or 5 Wires vs one HDMI Also HDMI handles copy protection while Component may not play some things in 1080p if the movie blocks it.

  • 360 only displays 720

  • @yada147258

360 Displays 1080P just fine. Update the Xbox and go to display settings. TV must support 1080p of course.

  • @Zantor135 am i wrong? I was told the 360 could only could push 720 . Sure it reads 1080 but its still just 720 right?

  • @yada147258 Even the Component only version is 1080p. Now most of the games are not 1080p. I think more ps3 games are 1080p then Xbox360 games are but their is 1080p xbox360 games. The reality is playing today's games in 720p is just fine. Now movies are another story. xbox360 HD-DVD outputs full 1080p 24fps movies without issue when connected via HDMI. Component can work as well if the display does not block it via Copy protect.

Of Course HD-DVD is a dead format but it proves my point.

  • Hello can anyone tell me how to get for xbox in system display 60 HZ my tv supports that but xbox just takes 50 HZ.I am using HDMI cable 1080p and toshiba Tv anyone knows this solution thx

  • if you ask me (this is probably just because of youtube's quality capabilities) i think the component cables look better than the hdmi cable in this example.... :S

  • When the video started i thought i was watching a young Van Damme!

  • Is their any differnce between HD cables and a HDMI cable?

  • @ozzybrandon2000 hdmi makes u cooler

  • @SuperAwesomeParty ok thanks lol

  • I use a HDMI Cable to connect my Xbox 360 with my 38'' TV with 1080p and it looks awesome so much brighter and more better graphics and colour

  • hey, I have an old xbox 360, so I cant buy an HDMI cable because it doesnt work on my old xbox, what can I buy to get good quality? please answer me soon

  • i see a slite colour enhancement on the hdmi one but not enough to pay extra for...

  • don't use composite

    composite Awful

    component yeah baby

    HDMI WOOOOOOOOOOOW WOOHOOO

    Great picture

i am so using this cable

WOW! just one cable can be better 5 cables

  • you must play games to see any different!

  • yes thats true cause you get 64-bit pixelation around things

  • HDMI is better because it's digital not analog! red blue green can't do 1080p only 720p!

  • u are a moron. 720p is as good as 1080p it just matters on the size of tv. 1080p is for bigger tvs that are like 42". don't comment on youtube if you don't know what your talking about

  • So if I use HDMI on a 15" tv I'm only getting 720p?

  • sgtnicol15 is wrong about that

i even wrote a comment about his text

my tv is 19" and i use HDMI and it does 1080p. when i play games it looks awesome

so 15" by HDMI Will do 1080p etc etc etc the end

  • no thats false from him

    he thinks that 1080p cannot work on tvs such as 12" 10" 7" 15" 19" 24".

1080p actually works on all nearly all HD tvs

  • not really

    it actually matters about resolution

my tv goes up 1080p and its 19"

    its resolution is 1920x1080

  • @SgtNicol15 is right ppl

  • lol

i use HDMI on my xbox360 it looks awesome

    also on component

it only goes up to 1080i lol

  • component goes upto 1080i 2 720p lol

HDMI goes to 1080p lolol rather you'd use hdmi

  • i dont see much of a difference but when im using the HDMI cable i can use use the xbox 360 hdmi sound adapter for my sound system instead of running another wire from the tv to the sound system

  • 1080p & 720p look the same

so well I don't see the diffrance betweeen

    1080p & 720p

    HDMI_| |_Component

  • @MRFRUITCAKE98 i agree

  • lol what and idiot. a lot of people use the "old yellow white red" because the white and red are the audio

  • yeah today (sunday) i was in ASDA and there was this big HDTV conected to a DVD player by Yellow White Red wich is composite

and it look Absolutely AWFUL it looked pixelated i almost threw up by the quality

  • there never was a yellow becouse mitsubishi has a patent on yellow. all tv's made cannot use yellow. big secret in the tv manufaturing industry.

  • thats funny, every tv i see uses a yellow socket..

  • umm ok.

  • so which is better HDMI???

  • no shit moron! He didnt change it from 1080p cuz the Blue and green and red can also do High Def 1080p! Buying a new xbox just for the new HDMI Input is totally a waist of money! If you have an older version it can still do 1080p! Its not like the damn xbox can play blue ray anyway! But good video bro!

  • im pretty sure the red blue and green can only do 1080i

  • Nah it can do 1080p! Thats the resolution my tv is doing! And when i go to settings it says its doing 1080p!

  • hmm mine is only doing 1080i maybe yours is upscaled. im getting hdmi cables for christmas so it doesn't really matter too much.

  • There we go! No more problems! lol! All i want is my ps3 on HDMI anyway! lol! My 360 is jus fine on HD component!

  • It will switch it to 1080p. But its truly only sending 720p. You have to have HDMI to have true 1080p thru the 360.

  • Its Called Componet And Composite.

HDMI Is High Definition Multimedia Interface

  • Make sure you turn off the Noise reduction option on the sony TV this will clear up some of the ghosting or blurring. in the games and movies you see when the pictures scrolls left or right.

  • your still on 1080p,you didnt change it, dumbass,,,beside HDMI is alot better becouse you can have a high resolution,,

  • Colour is better on component and film is better on HDMI

  • everything is better on HDMI and remember there are different levels of HDMI cable.I have the 700 hd cable with gold connectors,it hanles 10.2Gbps.What can your crappy component handle,or your cheap HDMI cable.don't settle for less buy the 700hd cable, not the 500,not the 600,the best.Go to tiger direct,it's about 45 bucks.I saw the 500 hd online for $119 what a rip off.

  • LMAO Expensive HDMI's and Cheap HDMI's are not different. Haa Digital is Digital as long as its 1.3 then your pretty much okay. No difference between Cheap HDMI and Expensive HDMI's and Component barely has a difference too its just that you cant display 1080p DRM'ed material's such as blu-ray. If you spend more then 15 bucks on a 5 ft HDMI cable you are being scammed alot. Screw Monster. Monoprice and Amazon FTW

  • Nigga is you crazy.lol Seriously component sucks hdmi can go past 1080p.Nuying a higher quality hdmi cable will last longer, resist interference better, and prevents even less signal loss. Also 700hd hdmi can transfer higher bits of data 10.2Gbps 500hd can only transfer 2.3Gbps.1080p is only the start,we can achieve higher resolution.HDMI can handle the future.

  • Component does not suck sure it has loss but on the 360 there is no difference. Buying a higher quality cable is no difference as there is no interference and no signal lost on HDMI as its digital and it either works or does not work. That is how HDMI works if there isn't enough Gbps then it wont even send for example my 12 dollar HDMI cable handles all my Blu's perfectly. I do not know what your talking about 700hd and 500hd oh wait are you talking about monster crap? Monoprice ftw again

  • I'm talking about THX certifed monster Cable. Also component cable is not called HDMI,compnent is called component, similar to composite,HDMI is in a higher league.Comparing component to HDMi is like comparing regular yellow video cable to s-video cable.Test it yourself and see the difference between hdmi and component. If i didn't cut the component cable off my xbox cable i would make a video for youtube,i will buy a new cable from amazon ,and show you the difference

  • THX = Gimmick and I know Component is worse then HDMI its just not that worse and its just that it does not support blu's and other DRM'ed content. How bout you do make a video and show how lousy your haterd against compoenent is. My Home Theatre is pure HDMI with nothing but it in its sight so I do know HDMI is better. I was not even defending component in the post I was just saying your monster cables were fucking garbage.

  • It depends on whether or not your TV handles a digital signal better or a analog signal better.

My TV looks better with HDMI.

  • So HDMI is better ¿¿??

  • HDMI i use, i think it's more crispy clean.

  • the xbox 360 dashboard is 720p upscaled to 1080p if your tv supports it, like in your case.

You would see more difference if you use a true HD movie, or a native 1080p game. But like you say, you only see it from up close so in any way it's a non issue. good vid!

  • hey a question. i have a toshiba regza 32 inch i dont think it has full hd. but when i choose the setting

'1080 p" on my xbox it works so my question is. is it bad to use 1080 p when my lcd tv doesnt have full hd support.?? please reply

  • no it shouldnt be bad your tv is just downscaling 1080p to around your max 720p

  • you should make a video when your playing a game you can probably see the differents but my opinion I like the HDMI because it looks better

  • problem on the 60gb xbox 360 with hdmi. i connect the hdmi from xbox to hdtv but cannot plug in the fat scart cable. microsoft made a big problem

  • scart sucks, move it or lose it,but if you have a N64 or supernintendo save that scart cable for some hd old school gaming.

  • hdmi is actuly starts from 762p to 1080 where as componat starts from 420 to 720 so it is a little worse especaly if u have full hd

  • i have a sony bravia it looks really sharp on hdmi

  • wow wen u recorded ur tv the quality was amazing

  • Thanks dude I not have hdmi on my xbox and I was sad to use component but now I know it will be same :)

  • Hej man really nice review! i'll just stick at mine components :)

  • You are a little "overcool" but still good video

  • I have a home theater what means I can have Dolby Suround Sound. And I bought a RBG cabel and I don't understand one thing. Does I have to connect RBG cabel to my TV or Home Theater? Please answer!

  • Just get HDMI to skip the confusion ;).

If you cant, then just plug the Component cables to the TV and buy an optical cable for the surround sound.

  • But when I have HDMI then I don't need optical audio cabel, right?

  • Yea. Im pretty sure. Thats what HDMi is for.

  • Hey guys, i have an xbox 360 with HDMI, but when i go to the display settings, it says the only resolution it can support is 480p, i have run 1080i with the RGB components and just wondering if anyone knows why my HDMI is only allowed to run in 480p, any help would be appreciated, thanks

  • It's because your TV has its resolution limits. Your HDMI output can only run 480p because it's screen cannot fit 1080 pixels onto its monitor through HDMI.

Your component however is programmed different to run on interface with 1080 pixels on the screen.

It all depends how big your TV is.

It's not a big problem though because running 1080p on a small LCD screen will look like crap.

You should look up the your TV hardware info on-line to find out it's resolution compatibilities.

  • Sorry for the sentence mistake. I was supposed to put:

"You should look up your TV hardware info on-line to find out it's resolution compatibilities."

  • Thanks alot for that, really helped me out, ill be upgrading to a 50" sony LCD soon, so hopefully i wont have any problems then:)

  • HDMI- What a rip off, I spent all the money for the same picture quality i could get from component.

and for some strange reason, HDMI's audio lags a little ( so like when playing shooter games, the vibration rumbles but the sound comes 1 second. It's REALLY akward)

  • Switch to "Game mode" (if you have it) on your TV to eliminate that lag.

  • does the delay come from using RBG on an hd tv?

  • @j9312 All I know is that Game mode bypasses certain image processes so that the TV can process the data faster, therefore eliminating lag.

  • there is n visual difference, but ther is an audio difference. that is why HDMI is better, but dont buy the uper expensive $60+ cables, just go to amazon and buy one for $8. no hadmi can give a better picture or sound than an other hdmi cable, because digital all runs the same strength of signal, and HDMI runs digital

  • i screwed ur ass in halo 3 like 5 months ago

  • red blue green ;)

  • only xbox 360 elite has hdmi cable. The 60g pro has component cable

  • Ummm dude, the 60GB Pro HAS HDMI too. It's only the EARLY 360s like the early 20GB pro, and Core that have component only. Newer Pros (20/60GB), Halo 3 edition, Arcades, and Elites all have HDMI.

  • If you want to buy an hdmi for xbox 360 do not buy hdmi that rights on it xbox 360 hdmi cable for microsoft. That's very expensive. You can buy an hdmi for ps3 or other devices like dvd and others.

  • Hdmi gives you digital surround and digital video but not the component.HDMI is better and better than component cable. If you compare it in hdtv you can see the diffrence

  • would it make a better difference on 720p?

  • it would make it worse on 720p

  • my aunt works at Sony and i got one of those 34" bravias :)

  • lol 13 messages!

  • does the 60 gb pro have hdmi slots?

  • yup has hdmi

  • but the hdmi cable dosent come with it

  • its only like 8 bucks though you dont need the ones for 360 they all work

  • you are not cool

  • You think windows is over priced? i spec'd out a computer from MAC's website, 1350$. I went to newegg[dot]com and spec'd out the EXACT SAME HARDWARE for under 800$!

Conclusion: build a newegg Intel PC, use BootCamp and have Vista and OSX on the same PC.

  • Well the diference you will be able to see if you play an 1080p game, actually just the virtual tennis 3 is!!! so you cant see a regular game better in a hdmi format cause the games are in smaller resolution than 1080p is!!!

  • is there a 2080p? lol

  • nope

  • Thank you so much for making this video, I have looked everywhere on youtube for a video like this! I just bought a TV that supports HDMI 1080p and I own a HDMI-less xbox 360. I do have my xbox 360 set on 1080p widescreen with the component cable and it looks awesome, But I always wondered if it would look even better with a HDMI cable. So thanks to you now I know and I don't have to go spend money on an xbox with HDMI. Great video!!

  • Ya your totally welcome bro :-) like there is really no difference on the HDMI and RBG cords once it gets to 1080p (at 480p its horrible with the RBG cords but i forgot to show that in the video) but im going to complain about one thing with the RBG cords is that there very disorganized compared to the HDMI's one cord. But ya im glad this helped

  • I don't own a 360 i own a ps3 but the RGB you're reffering to is component video, and the red white and yellow is composite video. composite video is standard 480I/480P and the component video which is pure anolog for those who have a hdtv the resoultion is either 720 P or 1080I

  • @Maione685 How many HZ do you have

  • @1Susanoo 60HZ

  • yeah its true about the viruses alot of people don't like microsoft, I understand why thou they really over price there software.

you can get anti viruses for vista like AVG free 8.0 and firewalls like comodo. windows defender is crap.

MAC are really got for video, music and picture editing and can be way quicker than most winows OS. i would get one if the game support improved.

  • Ya seriously if the gaming was better they would be almost the perfect comp. Ya like this is basically all i use my Mac for is making and editing videos. I want to get this Final Cut Express 4.0 Program but its like $199.99. I mean its totally worth it but i have to save my money. And i want a dazzle video card also. Do you know anything about those?

  • torrents

  • At my dads house we have a 52" samsumg tv its from 2008 im not sure which model though

  • Tight! do you have an XBOX 360?

  • Holy crap! I added you, you told me to from the comments on another vid! someguy6322 i dont have any games though, except for rockband.

  • hey dude please delete some friends on your friends list on xbox live so i can be ur friend. my gamer tag is SGT D4RK RUMP. lol its a funny gamer tag but can u please? and do u have call of duty 4? and mercs 2?

  • Ya brotha fo sho! im gonna delete as many as i can that i dont play with anymore so i can star playing with you guys

  • HDMI FTW, i use it on my PC and PS3 my 360 is the Premium not the new chipset or models :(

1920 by 1080 Progressive very nice and the TV is great LCD > than plasma, very good choice for life span to quality ratio.

i only got 32" Bush lol only does 1768 by 992 progressive (native) and 1080 interlace.

  • You have your comp hooked up to your tv :-) thats what i want to do as soon as i get the cable for the pc input. Ya this tv is pretty tight tho and has amazing quality!!!

  • I know that you have a MAC and I really dont know them at all but if you have a PC then you can connect it to a tv with the HDMI, VGA or component cables

  • What kind of pc do you use?

  • i use windows vista x64 because of games

  • Thats sick! ya i wanted a different comp but everyone told me to get a Mac because they dont get viruses. But it kinda sucks since they dont play most pc games and its hard to get programs for them because know one uses Macs... but whatever i like it
