  • Thank you!!!

  • but what about the capacitors where are ???

  • This was a Make Magazine article that got squeezed out due to space constraints (don't think it got in yet).... so the step-by-step stuff is still not out there, sorry!

    The caps and resistors are 0805 surface mount, soldered DIRECTLY to the pins at the side of the 555 DIP. They just almost fit perfectly there.

    Crazy, huh?

  • woow yeah :D

  • Can you please post a parts list with the capacitor and resistor values? Thanks!!

  • Sure -- the article, if ever published, gives the WHY and HOW; the parts are:

    * 555 timer (8-pin DIP)

    * LED (CMD3450, 2.2V forward voltage drop)

    * RL 130 Ohm, 1206 SMD

    * RA 5.76 MOhm, 1206 SMD

    * RB 150 KOhm, 1206 SMD

    * C1 1 uF 16V, 1206 SMD

    Doesn't fade in and out like fireflies do, but blinks at a firefly rate. I'd like to come up with a simple circuit that fades in and out as well --- someday. Note the SMDs are 1206, not 0805! I misremembered above.

  • WTF IS reeaaaallyyy tiiiiny

  • I know! Cool, huh? That was the challenge, to make it tiny, otherwise a really simple circuit.

  • hehe ok :)

  • nice, i love smd :D
