One of the greatest songs of all time, sexed up and ruined to get more attention from people who won't appreciate it anyway. I love Nevermore but they fucked this one up.

It is a matter of opinion. The way they sing and perform differs a bit, such that you get a bit of a different feel. I personally find the ATR cover to be very well done, and they are all very talented, but the vocalist just gets on my nerves sometimes.
I am so lucky to have found this band years ago. When ATR covered this, I remember listening to it going "these vocals are just too airy and processed... and the instrument tune is cool but I don't like the levels.. So I googled it and discovered it was a cover, and I can happily say I haven't listened to ATR since. Thanks for being BAMFs, Nevermore. (Also I have both loomis' and dane's albums. They rock)

I guess you could say Jeff Loomis and Van Williams are nevermore.Its still a good band and you gotta support that. Its like the issue with Nightwish and Tarja/Annette.There is no issue, NW's Annette album went triple platinum. Tarja is also producing decent stuff with sales figures at old NW levels which shows you how that band actually improved in that exchange. Nevermore too has had good sales numbers with the new guys.Loyalty is good, but it doesnt pay these peoples bills, they gotta eat.
I still say Chris Brodrick is a pretty good fit in megadeth. Also, Jeff's solo tracks are pretty good. So im guessing thats why the band isnt together since chris was still a pretty big part in the band.

@Sentencedgr DARK PASSION PLAY is the single best album Nightwish ever did, HANDS DOWN. Its the major breakout album for them. I am a huge Tarja fan. I met Annette & NW in 08 and ate dinner with them.They were all nervous over the dumped Tarja thing and came to the US to hide out for awhile so things would cool down. Annette is a peach and impossible to dislike.I was at the stage for thier ProgPowerUSA show.They were great.Great bands will find a way to remain that way.Talent will reveal itself.

@Devils8Eyes The cover is basically identical, the only real difference are the vocals. Try putting both songs in Audacity or Cubase or whatever and aligning them so they both start at the same time. Both songs sound almost exactly the same, apart from the vocals. The only thing I can hand to ATR is a great attempt at perfectly reproducing a song, but a cover is all about bands putting themselves in the song they're covering, not copying it completely music and production-wise.
So yeah I just read an article about Nevermore vowing to continue. You know what Im thinking. Get Sean Blosl from Sanctuary for guitars, and Mike Fucking Portnoy for drums( 2011 only) :D

I met Annette & NW in 08 and ate dinner with them.They were all nervous over the dumped Tarja thing and came to the US to hide out for awhile so things would cool down. Annette is a peach and impossible to dislike.I was at the stage for thier ProgPowerUSA show.They were great.Great bands will find a way to remain that way.Talent will reveal itself.

@Devils8Eyes The cover is basically identical, the only real difference are the vocals. Try putting both songs in Audacity or Cubase or whatever and aligning them so they both start at the same time. Both songs sound almost exactly the same, apart from the vocals. The only thing I can hand to ATR is a great attempt at perfectly reproducing a song, but a cover is all about bands putting themselves in the song they're covering, not copying it completely music and production-wise.
