When the "consumer watch dog" of the consumer organization measured the fuel consumption of Hyundai Elantra in response to consumers' complaint, it was before and after an average of 25 MPG.
The organization announced officially, saying, "The real fuel consumption of Elantra has large deviation with catalog fuel consumption."
In quest of fuel consumption re-measurement of Hyundai Elantra, it appealed to EPA, and came out.
• I love it. It looks fantastic, is amazingly efficient, roomy, sophisticated and is reasonably priced...and with the best warranty around. What more do you want? This is not the Hyundai of even 2 years ago let alone 20.
If you want to pay alot more for a label, then you shouldn't even be looking at a compact car. Go buy a 10 year old BMW and pretend that you are rich, but be prepared to spend a fortune on maintenance.
How many cars today are actually head turners like this one?
I own a GLS and have to say its a great car! Performance, economy, space and luxury is very satisfying. My ONLY disappointment is the paint. Be warned. I got some nasty chips, more people on the forums experienced similar issues and Hyundai refuses to correct the problem.
Heated back seats is a freakin 4k option on a S550 that my uncle has. And cars like 5 series or E Class dont even havce it. Great job with that interior hyundia. great job
I have Heard that Elantra doesnt have A/c and power windows in the Standard trim and also the Automatic version. These Options are only available in High trim version "Elantra LIMITED" . Hyundai Must be Joking If they Dont Include A/c in their Standard version. That must be a Shame after including so many other features taking out A/c
@MsSalah13 no it does not have POWER a/c... meaning you have to turn the knobs or whatever to turn it on it has ac.. and it has power windows i dont know about the total base model though.
@MsSalah13 You guy comment on every Elantra's video with the same comment. Think you are a little out of... and want to devaluate this great lookin car which certainly will be some strong competitors killer (corolla, civic).
@losowy82 no, i dont know why pple take it that way, its just an inquiry about the air cond. i myself following this car since early 2011, and without any doubt, this car is beyond corola, civic etc. i have commented on every elantra's vid, yes, because i love it and i am following it everywhere, and um sorry if The comments hurts some of you. but it hasnt anything to do with critising any aspect of Elantra.
@losowy82 i too like my elantra..i think the corolla and civics looks so totally uninspiring and boring..they are great value for money any i have no complaint or what so ever..mine even has a oh so cool push-button to start the engine which i haven't seen in any american videos out there so i'm wondering if any of the american version ahs a push-button start? check my chanel to see what i mean :)
@60SecondAssassin1 Hyundai isn't copying Ford... in fact, Where the fuck does 'Ford' come up when you look at the Elantra?
That's like saying Mercedes Benz ins't copying BMW, but they are because they made a car so similar to a BMW!
In fact. it's 2011, Hyundai is competing against the likes of Honda, Ford, Chevy, and others. If you don't like it, go take your hate-mongering elsewhere. Hyundai will get the attention and prize it deserves, not your opinion.
Ive had the GSL in Blue for about a month now & i absolutely LOVE it!! My family has always been Honda owners ( i had 2 civics in the past) Honda is a great car that lasts forever but I have to say I have no complaints yet about the Hyundai. It drives and feels alot like the new civics its soooo roomy and has such a sharp looking interior. I catch people taking a look alll the time. & not to mention the 100,000/10 yr waaranty plus the cost of ownership is great. no complaints here ;)
@EZ2doExperiences I think you meant to say "you're gay." With that I would say "you're illiterate." You also have terrible taste in cars. I think my mom has an Elantra club...you should go join.
@60SecondAssassin1 I should probably tell you how horrible the Chevy Cruze and Ford Fiesta/Focus looks! Because your taste in cars is soooooo much better than ours that probably anyone with a clear conscience will pick a Hyundai Elantra over a Chevy Cruze or a Honda Civic, especially when it has a 40mpg to compete with!
Go back to your backwards cars, we don't need you here to spew senseless BS. :)
@ArcanineKing Anyone with two eyes can see Hyundai is ripping on Ford...you must be blind. I would take a Fiesta over this turd, and I would definitely take the new Focus over this. Both the Fiesta and Focus come with a DSG...does the Elantra? Nope. I don't even think Hyundai has developed a DSG. I hate Chevy and I hate the Cruze. It is the worst one of the bunch so don't do a name drop for a car I didn't even bring up.
P.S.- Arcanine is a terrible Pokemon. May I suggest Gengar or Charizard?
@60SecondAssassin1 The car looks NOTHING like a Fiesta. At all. Not even a Focus. For one, the headlights are not similar, nor does the front facia resemble anything like a Hyundai Elantra. I think you need to have your eyes checked.
Second, Ford and Fiesta doesn't have a DSG. The DSG is strictly a german-only transmission option that is available on Audi, Bugatti, SEAT, Skoda and Volkswagen. Wherever you got that you have to check it again.
@60SecondAssassin1 Third, I named the Cruze because it is competing against the Elantra. Because it is the closest thing to the features of the Elantra except for the smart engine start button, touchscreen navigation, and extended leg room. Oh, and the 40mpg range that Cruze's most premium brand doesn't have leave for the cheaper ECO engine with less features.
Fourth, Hyundai has made tons of standard features come with the car. Compare that with the competition.
@60SecondAssassin1 So Ford doesn't have a DSG. It has a Dual-clutch transmission. Now, I can understand where you are going with this, but keep in mind that this feature it's useless on small engine cars that aren't built for sport or speed. So putting a DSG or Dual-clutch transmission (DCT) on an underpowered car that keeps the limit to 40mpg is stupid, when it isn't needed.
I think you missed the point of the Elantra. Nice try on smearing and defaming it, even if it was on vain. :)
@60SecondAssassin1 the DSG is sequential shifting with paddle shifter. It's only available in certain german engineered cars and sportscars in some parts of Europe. Aston Martin has them too. The Fiesta doesn't have it, but the Ford Focus RS has it since it was manufactured in Germany and designed in Germany.
Fiesta is 40mpg on automatic transmission, according to the Ford website, manual gets it worse MPG.
Hyundai states that it gets 40mpg on any transmission, why? Different engine.
@ArcanineKing Most DSG's and DCT's are pretty fucking similar. I won't get into it though so peace. Still hate this car and nothing you say will make me change that. I can see what I can see so there is no use even going on about it.
@EZ2doExperiences Well, I'm not the one out defending the Elantra on youtube vids like my personal honor depends on it. I may be gay, but you need to get a life.
While this car is more girly from the front than I like the styling especially inside and from the back is outstanding. I'm a little over 6' and I was fine in the back seat behind the driver's side after I adjusted the front seat to how i would drive the car. I really never see the point of a moonroof except to help the hot air escape in the summer. And I can't stand the "camel" interior color...all black/grey is sooo much nicer and will prolly hide dirt better
@ladyyuna2000 Yeah, I'd like to hear from someone whom has had time behind the wheel offer some feedback too. My local dealer had people waiting to test drive it the day I visited. :(
@69chocolateboy It's 2011, Hyundai's changed. Who cares about 2006 anymore? Oh wait, you do.
Welcome to the future. Hyundai will win against Honda, Toyota, Chevrolet, you name it. It can't compare. Hyundai back then was early in it's competition, but now, they caught up.
You think the 'styling' is bad? Watch Honda use the same design they used in 2003 for the civic up to today. The new 2012 Civic will look the same as the 2003 and 2006 civic.
@osamaFXX yeah except for the fact that the most power this car makes is 148 hp and 131 tq, the civic si would just rape this thing so i'm not even gonna mention how much power it makes..the civic dx/lx/ex makes 140 hp and 128 tq, but it also weighs 150 lbs less, so that 8 extra hp and 3 extra tq that the elantra has wouldn't make it "smoke" any version of the civic, it would be a complete drivers race..as for the corolla, idk they suck so i don't know shit about them..elantra costs more too
@greeleykid Seriously!? You said you don't know shit about the Corolla but you say they suck!? The 2003 Corollas came with 130hp and 125lb ft of torque does 0-60 in 8 seconds and 16.3 seconds quartermile. The 2005 Toyota Corolla XRS with 170hp and 127lb ft of torque does 0-60 in 7.6 seconds with 16.1 seconds quartermile. The 2011 Hyundai Elantra with 148hp and 131lb ft of torque does 0-60 in 8.8 seconds. These test were done by Motorweek.
@bdh01887 Actually, they start at $15,550 with the GLS model with M/T, base. Fully equipped GLS about $18,700.
Limited Edition at near $20,000, with premium package, $22,000.
But it also might depend on what dealer it sells it on and where they buy it. Hyundai's site says the 2011 Elantra Limited fully equipped at 22,700 with the 700 for the documentation and (probably) transportation fee to area fee. Or something along those lines.
I could care less about heated seats in the rear seat, maybe the fronts but who cares about the rear? Compact cars aren't usually carrying passengers in the rear anyways, they are too tight to 3 across and most will not be comfortable at all if they are over 5' 9". Im the driver, all I care about is how well the car performs on the road.
@xoquixxoqafxo I doubt so much those models can outperform this car.... Honda is not precisely the best in fuel economy, it is a great car, but it is far from being fuel efficient, and there is where the Elantra 2011 brights the most: Excellet Fuel Efficency and Performance.
Ford Focus Hatch is not even in the same segment, they offer good fuel efficiency, but low performance.
What the heck are you talking about? The Focus doesn't compete with this car? Wow, please explain how they do not compare? They cost about the same and are both compact cars and have been in the same class since the Focus came out in 2000. The Civic has always been the class leader in this segment. Hyundai is still just a new player, the 07-10 Elantra was like a Corolla, rubbish.
@xoquixxoqafxo Focus is C Segment, Moron.....It competes with the Hyundai i30. If you talk about the sedan version...well, let me tell you something, the Focus sedan version has a UNDERPOWER ENGINE, 1.6 litres petrol and less than 100 HP?, THAT IS RUBBISH! If Focus cost about the same than a New Elantra, you are probably getting raped with that price. The Elantra OUTPERFORM THE Focus in many aspects, especially in overall performance. (07-10 model 1.6 litres petrol 122HP, 2011 140HP).
what? I live in America dude, the Focus has only one 2.0L gas engine here with 140 hp. The 2012 Focus will have a 2.0L DI engine with around 155 hp I believe, That is why Im waiting for the new Focus or Civic over this. Although I would take this over the Corolla in a heartbeat.
@xoquixxoqafxo LMAO!! THERE WONT BE ANY DIESEL ENGINE FOR US MARKET...That is for the European market.
And about the Corolla....well, I hope you enjoy your overpriced Japanese boring car with lack of design and refinement.....your comment is a total example of your position as a fanboy and hater....Did you see Elantra 2011 specs for America? 1.8 litres, 148 HP and 40 MPG in Hwy, 16 HP more and 6 MPG more efficient than the Corolla with the same displacement. Whos your daddy now, fanboy?
Wow, you are an idiot. I said I fucking hate the Corolla, why don't you read more carefully. I like this car more than a Corolla but its still doesn't blow me away by its weird styling and the fact that its still a Hyundai... its got lousy resale value here in the US. Grow the fuck up. Hyundai is just producing nice cars recently, they haven't been very consistent with design and quality and that reflects in their poor resale value.
and do you thing the resale value, it is not gonna be like that forever, because Toyota and Honda had a bad resale value at the beginning, but whenever people realize Hyundai cars are reliable, that number will rise....Actually it is happening already with models like Accent. The 2006-2010 Accent has shown to be affordable and reliable in many countries, at the point people is selling them for around 80% of the original price after 5 years.
@xoquixxoqafxo And If I misread that part of your comment, it was because I was talking with a girl I am dating. I hope you know what is more important at that type of moments.
@xoquixxoqafxo Ah, BTW, Honda is a really good car, but kind of expensive to maintain and they are having some issues in the design department (their models are starting to lack of certain modern details, like all others Japanese car makers, I hope they fix it) , and I do agree with you about the COROLLA, it is a real Rubbish.
@n2n4n It costs $14,830 USD for the GLS and 19,980 USD for the Limited. The car in the video is the Limited version. I don't know why people are saying 18,000 starting.
I thought EVERY car had tilt AND slide, I didn't know there's cars that only slide. My GP also does both, vent, tilt, and slide. btw, can you tell me if this Elantra still has the feature that Korean domestic model has? at least as an option? The Parking Assist. Where the car controls the steering wheel and measures the parking space automatically and all. It will be a great bargain if US bound models also offers it at this price range of a car. Not that I am a fan of Hyundai but....
@Grandam1999 For a moment, I thought it didn't tilt up because in another video, the reviewer slid it open and close only. I thought Hyundai might have performed a little cost cutting, leaving out the tilt function, especially since the car has so much standard content, lol.
@bdh01887 Thx for the reply. I failed to ask--do you know when the build & price feature will be available for the 2011 model? I keep checking Hyundai's website, but they only show the 2010 model.
@Passengertrains4ever i Have an 2007 Limited and i must admit i like mine better. This one has odd shatpe and low air panels and looks akward. It only looks good now because it is new
@heroheroic I like the older version, but the current styling is sleeker, sexier and has greater elegance and refinement (IMHO). I like that it's a sedan, yet has the rakish good looks of a coupe. Many cars, you can look at 'em and know how well they'll age. The 2011 Elantra will age extremely well because it was shaped more by an element (wind), leaving it less prone to excessive design overkill by man. '11 Elantra, FTW!

GLS Model starts at @ $18k. Almost the same as the 2010 model.
bdh01887 1 year ago
@bdh01887 Actually, they start at $15,550 with the GLS model with M/T, base. Fully equipped GLS about $18,700.
Limited Edition at near $20,000, with premium package, $22,000.
But it also might depend on what dealer it sells it on and where they buy it. Hyundai's site says the 2011 Elantra Limited fully equipped at 22,700 with the 700 for the documentation and (probably) transportation fee to area fee. Or something along those lines.

I will wait for the 2012 Honda Civic or Ford Focus Hatch over this.
xoquixxoqafxo 1 year ago
@xoquixxoqafxo do you get heated seats in the back for a cheap price in thoes cars i dont think so in this you do
pattycarljackson 1 year ago
@pattycarljackson
I could care less about heated seats in the rear seat, maybe the fronts but who cares about the rear? Compact cars aren't usually carrying passengers in the rear anyways, they are too tight to 3 across and most will not be comfortable at all if they are over 5' 9". Im the driver, all I care about is how well the car performs on the road.
xoquixxoqafxo 1 year ago
@xoquixxoqafxo I doubt so much those models can outperform this car.... Honda is not precisely the best in fuel economy, it is a great car, but it is far from being fuel efficient, and there is where the Elantra 2011 brights the most: Excellet Fuel Efficency and Performance.
Ford Focus Hatch is not even in the same segment, they offer good fuel efficiency, but low performance.
wtrdogg20 1 year ago
@wtrdogg20
What the heck are you talking about? The Focus doesn't compete with this car? Wow, please explain how they do not compare? They cost about the same and are both compact cars and have been in the same class since the Focus came out in 2000. The Civic has always been the class leader in this segment. Hyundai is still just a new player, the 07-10 Elantra was like a Corolla, rubbish.
xoquixxoqafxo 1 year ago
@xoquixxoqafxo Focus is C Segment, Moron.....It competes with the Hyundai i30. If you talk about the sedan version...well, let me tell you something, the Focus sedan version has a UNDERPOWER ENGINE, 1.6 litres petrol and less than 100 HP?, THAT IS RUBBISH! If Focus cost about the same than a New Elantra, you are probably getting raped with that price. The Elantra OUTPERFORM THE Focus in many aspects, especially in overall performance. (07-10 model 1.6 litres petrol 122HP, 2011 140HP).
wtrdogg20 1 year ago
@wtrdogg20
what? I live in America dude, the Focus has only one 2.0L gas engine here with 140 hp. The 2012 Focus will have a 2.0L DI engine with around 155 hp I believe, That is why Im waiting for the new Focus or Civic over this. Although I would take this over the Corolla in a heartbeat.
xoquixxoqafxo 1 year ago
@xoquixxoqafxo LMAO!! THERE WONT BE ANY DIESEL ENGINE FOR US MARKET...That is for the European market.
And about the Corolla....well, I hope you enjoy your overpriced Japanese boring car with lack of design and refinement.....your comment is a total example of your position as a fanboy and hater....Did you see Elantra 2011 specs for America? 1.8 litres, 148 HP and 40 MPG in Hwy, 16 HP more and 6 MPG more efficient than the Corolla with the same displacement. Whos your daddy now, fanboy?
wtrdogg20 1 year ago
@wtrdogg20
Hyundai is just producing nice cars recently, they haven't been very consistent with design and quality and that reflects in their poor resale value.
xoquixxoqafxo 1 year ago
@xoquixxoqafxo idiot your ass!!
and do you thing the resale value, it is not gonna be like that forever, because Toyota and Honda had a bad resale value at the beginning, but whenever people realize Hyundai cars are reliable, that number will rise....Actually it is happening already with models like Accent. The 2006-2010 Accent has shown to be affordable and reliable in many countries, at the point people is selling them for around 80% of the original price after 5 years.
wtrdogg20 1 year ago
@xoquixxoqafxo And If I misread that part of your comment, it was because I was talking with a girl I am dating. I hope you know what is more important at that type of moments.
wtrdogg20 1 year ago
@xoquixxoqafxo Ah, BTW, Honda is a really good car, but kind of expensive to maintain and they are having some issues in the design department (their models are starting to lack of certain modern details, like all others Japanese car makers, I hope they fix it) , and I do agree with you about the COROLLA, it is a real Rubbish.
wtrdogg20 1 year ago
@xoquixxoqafxo of course you will, xoQueefCakesxo... because everybody knows you're a Hyundai Hater

alhassanimustafa 1 year ago
I thought EVERY car had tilt AND slide, I didn't know there's cars that only slide. My GP also does both, vent, tilt, and slide. btw, can you tell me if this Elantra still has the feature that Korean domestic model has? at least as an option? The Parking Assist. Where the car controls the steering wheel and measures the parking space automatically and all. It will be a great bargain if US bound models also offers it at this price range of a car. Not that I am a fan of Hyundai but....
Grandam1999 1 year ago
@Grandam1999 For a moment, I thought it didn't tilt up because in another video, the reviewer slid it open and close only. I thought Hyundai might have performed a little cost cutting, leaving out the tilt function, especially since the car has so much standard content, lol.
Passengertrains4ever 1 year ago
Hyundai deserves a medal for this redesign; it's awesome. The sunroof...is that tilt AND slide, or just slide only? I'm in love with this car!
Passengertrains4ever 1 year ago 18
@Passengertrains4ever
Tilt and slide definitely. This car handles great! You should take some time out to drive one. I know you will love it

It only looks good now because it is new
heroheroic 1 year ago
@heroheroic I like the older version, but the current styling is sleeker, sexier and has greater elegance and refinement (IMHO). I like that it's a sedan, yet has the rakish good looks of a coupe. Many cars, you can look at 'em and know how well they'll age. The 2011 Elantra will age extremely well because it was shaped more by an element (wind), leaving it less prone to excessive design overkill by man. '11 Elantra, FTW!
