I was in the 1,000 Voice Choir (high school) in San Diego in the lagte sixties when we sang this. I still have the recording that was made. What a memory. This is amazing.
--How lovely is they dwelling place,Oh Lord of hosts!--For my soul,it longeth, yea fainteth for the courts of the Lord.--My soul & body crieth out, yea for the living God.-- O blest are they that dwell in they house: they praise they name evermore.
FROM: Psalms 84, KingJamesBible JohannBrahms, a Devout Christian who yearned to be with God while living. Is happy forever with Jesus now.
Sorry... I know this is random, but I'm very excited to find your videos of this. I was definitely in that choir! (With Tennessee Wesleyan College.) I saw all the videos on your page. Are all of those that you have posted? Or do you have more? I especially love all of Eph Ehly's motivations being posted!
For a new building it is probably better to sing about the church as being immaterial and eternal and not of something of this earth made of glass cement and plastic.
.
Although, you are right; Yes - yours is the better idea.
I wish the churches of today would get back to spiritual sound in music as this is. The rock they play on the plateform distracts me from worship..as does the people moving to the beat whilst trying to Worship... it is like secular sound, this age is gone. so I'll enjoy this & dream of how it should be.
Absolutely beautiful! What a majestic sound, from a fantastic choir! My high school choir performed this song during our "all district" choir and orchestra festival in 1982... what an enjoyable experience it was. This really brings back some great choir memories for me. Thanks for posting this video. :)
This needs to be in German...Don't get me wrong; I'm an American Native and Speak English 95% of the time (The other 5% I'm in French class)-The original language flows way better.
It is nice to hear you say there is another version that flows better; I should like to hear such a performance, I notice however you have not mentioned the location of such a performance, nor have you included it in your favorites -where most folk would have immediately sought it.
Lol our high school just did this song a couple of nights ago. We did better on this than like the Messiah which we also did. Brahm's is genius I like to hear his chord progressions
this is a Bum to sing in a small choir....
lol
(experiencing currently)

There is nothing like this piece. It should be done with a large chorus like this one. I sang this with a chorus several years ago.
