  • I just sold a new, unopened, legitimate item and had the buyer claim it was fake and ebay ruled in favor of him so I am out pretty much the entire cost of the product and shipping.

  • I am a US powerseller. If you go in and try and cancel the transaction, you should get the fee reversed. We have similar scams here in the US. I'm glad you were able to retrieve the laptop. I've had people buy from the US and ask for shipping to international and I will refuse to do it or will only do so if they also pay for full parcel insurance. Then if they scam me, I can make a claim at least.

  • Only sell trash on eBay, deal with trading assistants or hire druggies & self insure yourself against losses.

They you can be back into the money!

  • nothing to protect me. I even considered canceling my PayPal account and changing all of my account and credit card numbers, but I read that they will notify collections and that could harm my credit big time. I hope there is something I can do to stop this. I don't know how I was so dumb to somehow not catch on to this before it happened, as I've sold many things on eBay before, including another computer. I guess I've learned an extremely valuable lesson, but I don't think it's worth the cost.

  • the scammer will gain that money PLUS the laptop of the same value. I am only 23 years old and $2000 isn't exactly pocket change, and it will take more than half of my savings to cover that cost, if and when the chargeback occurs. I even tried contacting the post office in his country (Philippines) to see if they could stop it from being delivered, but so far I haven't gotten a response. Do you think contacting the police (in the Philippines) would help? I now know that eBay and PayPal will do

  • I wish I had seen your video sooner. I just got scammed BIG TIME on Ebay. HUGE! I fell for the same thing that you fell for, a person requesting for me to send an $1800 USD MacBook Pro laptop to a different address in another country. I sent it via the US Postal Service, and even though I caught on before the laptop left the country, they were not able to do ANYTHING to stop it and return it to me. The laptop has not even arrived but but I've already realized that I am going to lose my $1800 and

  • Thanks for the info

  • agree 100% ebay has gone to the dogs

  • wow dood. That's fucked up. Rock on man.

  • I have the same frustartion as an Ebay buyer. For those have open a case, you should save all the emails via ebay account and send a carbon copy to your own email service for protection. Even the conversation with Ebay on phone. Ebay has claimed no email responses from me and refuse to look up thier records to find them until I have a proof of date time etc., then they said it is out of norm that they can not find it in the first place. Now they see it and will get back to me later. Sure ??????

  • I did something like this about a day ago, is the anyway to stop the mail from getting to the scammer so I can get it back?! Also I used Craigslist if that makes a difference

  • Why are you showing middle finger all the time.

  • hey indonesia ? that's my country ! screw the scammers !

recently i got scamed by someone from malaysia :(

  • Ebay is garbage.

  • thanks for the warning! btw, are you married? WOW Good Looking!

  • @KK96703 not married darl ;)

  • ebay and paypal are dangerous. i was very nearly scammed today by a guy who said he had paid my paypal and that he wanted me to send the tv to a different address. i realised something was up and cancelled it. he wanted me to pay for a postage reciept of a 100 quid before he released the money into my account. this is how they try to get you. *Beware*

  • I should have mentioned buyer used my ebay/paypal invoice to pay on but it turns out 4 days later they'd used a stolen credit card, today they've bought another iPad 2 from someone else and a TV these people will lose their money too, I have the serial number of the iPad and I have 10 photos of the thief from my CCTV, what should I do with them ? I called the cops they basically said come in fill in a form and if we ever need those photos we'll contact you, this buyer is still buying right now.

  • I just sold an iPad 2 - Buyer insisted on collecting (i was only offering post) they paid via Paypal and collected, I asked them to sign a receipt and leave me feedback stating they'd collected which they did, then 3 days later the money was reversed from my bank back to paypal and I basically lost £500, there is NO seller protection if someone Collects goods, there is only seller protection if you use tracked signed for delivery to confirmed paypal address, no apologies from paypal, ebay blows!

  • Can anyone tell me why, I bid on a jacket, got outbid, the jacket got sold to the highest bidder. Now a few months later, the jacket has been rel-listed by the same seller. I've seen this happen a few times. can someone explain, please.

  • @Skaramoosh5 There are a couple reasons that may happen. The legit reason would be that the high bidder backed down and didn't. Then the seller has to file a non-pay claim and it can take a while for that to clear. When it does clear the seller can relist the item. The non legit reason would be shill bidding. That is when the seller either bids on the item himself or has a friend do the bidding with a different ebay account. Shill bidding is very common in the auction world.

  • @FossilDiver1964 Thanks for telling me. The seller does not have 100% feedback, so I think I will stay clear of them. Thanks again.

  • but come on man lol. nothing good comes from that worthless country. also you should call and dispute the charges I had something simmlar and i called and they took it out.

    ]

  • I love that middle finger and the background behind you .

  • NEVER USEING EBAY AND PAYPAL AND YOUR LIFE WILL BE LONGER !!!!!!

  • this is truth. ebay support liars and scammers. sorry but them is FUCKING SHIT SITES.if you are genuine serious seller or buyer never using ebay and paypal. it be safe and not be any nerves. ill do video like that and will say thats happing to me. main thing is help lines .which dont listen what u say .doest matter what problem you have. paypal worse twise.just will get automatic answer which not support your problem. sorry my english bad but may u understand what i want to say.BUT

  • 2:27 dirty finger

  • Seller: hey, we have to pay a postal fee, so can we send it to __?

    Me: hehe..... you're funny.....

  • Sadly this happens more frequently than you would think, and paypal/eBay will usually side with the buyer even if you have evidence of the fraud. If you were scammed out of a lot if money, I wonder if you are able to take legal actions.

  • ebay and paypal are the scamers. i boutgh a $2 screwdriver on ebay then 2 days later i was frauded $200 on my pay pal account that bounced my bank account then got told its my banks problem then the bank told me it was pay pals then when i confronted them about it i got the runaround for a week then got refunded what was stolen but they told me it was my problem for the bank fees.after that i got sent this card i need to sign in and it never worked!!

  • @canadamadman i also forgot to mention that it was the FIRST TIME i used pay pal. so much for it being safer than a credit card. i use a credit card to buy things online and not once have i been faruded until i used pay pal

  • Or you could have told the buyer "No! I will only abide by EbaY's TOS agreement and only ship to the address provided to me" and you would have been covered 100%. Sounds more like YOU were the sucka in this situation. Not Ebay!

  • at 0:24 he has the middle finger up

  • Y u keep flipping us off

  • One of many reasons why you should not buy anything on Ebay...most items are junk anyways

  • Thanks for the heads up buddy. I've had similar before, plenty of scammers on there, ruins it for the genuine people eh.

  • Big Companies are always winners, they get from both sides and are not interested in anything but their fees,The only way to hit these companies is to stop using their services.I dont use e-bay or pay pal as i've saw too many issues, and there is always other avenues to go down.

  • Always ship to a paypal confirmed address. Another big scam is the Item Not As Described Cases. These always get awarded to the buyer and they send the seller back a false item. They end up keeping the expensive piece. All paypal cares about is if the item arrived (whatever that item may be).

  • Thanks for the warning. I sell on eBay and would never post expensive items over seas.

  • sell it through local paper my friend , thank you for sharing , very insightful many sites pretending to sell real products when in fact they are fly by night companies

before you buy check physical address of corp that owns web site , if they have no physical address avoid it at any cost

  • lots of scams out there , Nigerian scam belize bahamian scam , European scam

Algerian scam , all kinds of scams

    check FBI for latest scams

  • I reported eBay to the better business bureau and am sick of their scams.

  • Do NOT miss that small part, which most sellers are missing - the eBay FVFC scam charge. That type of charge has NOT been credited automatically to his seller account, even thought PayPal refund buyer's payment! This FVFC SCAM appear to be as part of their rules & business practices, which is NOT mentioned under eBay & PayPal user agreement. You have the right to complain, but if you complaint about their rules & the way they are scamming money your buying & selling PRIVILEGES will be restricted

  • FUCKIN pal DIE IN HELL

  • Paypal scam me to I lost $33

  • EBAY WAS SO GOOD AT ONE TIME. NOW ITS JUST A WASTE OF TIME.

IF YOU DONT SUFFER WITH HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE NOW YOU WILL AFTER SELLING ON EBAY. YOU COULD DIE ON EBAY, EBAY STINKS!!!.

  • thanx 4 posting............

  • Just so You know, paypal own ebay. They are not 2 different company.

  • they might be from Nigeria

  • Seller beware? More like buyer beware... for the most part.

  • Can I buy your laptop? I want to sell you $150 for it and Il throw in a golden plated chainsaw

  • Ebay have to stop that refund the buyer and let them keep the item wtf.

  • Thank you for the advice..

  • eBay and Paypal are safe if you use them correctly. If you use the shipping via Paypal it will tell you if the address is confirmed to be correct. If not, it will say you are not protected, therefor if you chose you can refund the buyer and sell to someone else to avoid a scam. If you want to be 100% sure that you will not get scammed never sell/ship outside your country.

  • Ebay is not aware that the buyer is screwing you. You need to conatct ebay and inform them of the scam and they will credit your ebay account back. This has happen to me before by Nigerian bidders. Hopefully, one day we will be able to track these scammers and find out who they really are. The FBI could track them, but the FBI has no auhtority in other countries like here.

  • Fucking Iranian Asylum Seeker jumped out of the lorry and raped a Fuckung French fat bitch working in immgration control. Surprisingly, the unwsanted born chiled became a successful business man owning a cool ecommerce business. However due to the doomed story of this child, One of the most successful online businesses turned to go down the hole in result of the FUCKING STUPID decisions made by the basturd owner. FUCK YOU EBAY. BAY OF FUCKING PENNY PICKERS WANKERS & SCAMMERS.Thumb up if u agree

  • It should have raised a red flag right away.

  • I have been selling for a few years now and I wouldnt sell a big ticket either. I cant agree with you more about the ratting system. its all in the buyers favore.

  • THANK YOU! you saved my skin I was subject to this scam to but I phoned ebay before I shipped because of this video! you saved me alot of money and hassle!

  • the funny thing is when buyer is buying item from you, did NOT PAY for it, and is leaving a negative feedback. i had that, e bay is soooooo fuckin slow to sort things like that, but when package was missing in a post office they block my money immediately, good i had tracking no.

  • @dannecah be interested to know what happens. This is a regular scam. If anything, i hope this video at least makes people aware of what ebay/paypal dont seem to concerned about!

  • everyone stop useing paypal and use this its best way to take payments on ebay youtube.com/watch?v=WEvMV_xKGl0

  • ebay and paypal are the scum of the earth in my opinion - they do all sorts of stuff like this to people on a regular basis.

I had been selling on ebay for years, and paying them a hefty amount of money too, but as soon as there is a problem they shut you down, freeze the money in your paypal account for 180 days (nice amount of interest for paypal there, another source of income!) and basically email all your recent buyers telling them to claim their money back, even if they have the stuff!

  • i think you need to go one step further and stop using ebay & paypal altogether,

  • A similar situation has happened to me before: I sold a pair of shoes for about $115. I sent it to the address on paypal. Initially she filed a case stating she never received the package, when I had proof of the confirmation number, she claimed that when she opened the package but "nothing was inside." Even though I had the receipt with the weight of the package on there, paypal was making all these excuses and sided with the buyer in the end. Don't try to sell anything through paypal/ebay!

  • I agree with you, paypal is not safe. Somebody logged into my paypal account without my knowing and added money from my bank account to my own paypal account. I don't know what they meant by that but how they got hold of my password and login details. I don't understand, be careful guys.

  • Thanx for this vid OL. I too have had sad dealings through Ebay. I was lucky tho. I bought a laptop thru ebay many years ago coming from the USA. a stupid thing to do I know but I was younger then. I got the article eventually but it cost me double in repairs after shipping damages or was it just the poor packaging to disguise the real condition of the item? that the seller had accumulated heaps of negative comments to do with similar issues. Ebay must think negative feedback is bad 4business?

  • Thank you for helping the rest of us keep from falling victim to these scumballs.

  • Geez, how low can people go these days. -_-

  • Jesus I cant believe I wasn't aware of this I'll be sure to be much more vigilant in future thanks a lot mate for this info

  • What's an australian kiss and how do u get one?? Check out TeamKaploosh channel to find out! :)

  • I've had a good experience... I guess if you only post to address on paypal, then they can organise their own shipping. I have never had a problem with either and I use paypal quite often... just another perspective.

  • the den of scammers hang out on aspkin forum

go to google type in aspkin forum

the entire forum is full of these people who scam others on ebay using the type mentioned in video to all sorta other scams with fake identities.

  • Oh crikey.

  • just post a positive comment and write negatively

  • Thanks for that warnig, every body is trying to exploit every body,

but what a drag right,! You are proably not the only one, but still

Have a nice time on Bali ;)

  • Nothing's safe over the internet.

There's always ways to exploit loopholes or simply just hack.

  • Yeah very silly mistake mate sorry! Hopefully you know better now.

  • Another scam is post an item for sale. Never send the item, keep the money. After a couple of weeks the buyer will file a dispute, and after a month or so Ebay will refund the buyer their money. You both get paid and you become a felon. Yay paypal!

  • Stay classy eBay

  • Thanks for your "Lessen Learned". Sorry it cost you. Now we know the right thing to do.

  • a lot of people mentioned me giving the finger, this was my message to ebay/paypal. If they were concerned about these scams they would post warnings on their site. But they dont care because they are the same company and either way make money.

  • wow, thanks for the heads up...sorry abt the scam, but thanks for informing us!

  • I've had some terrible experiences with Ebay and Paypal.

  • Do you always gesture with your middle finger?

  • Thanks for the heads up.

  • Thank you for making more people aware of the scams. I have been a victim myself of ebay scams but I was able to get my money back and keep the item (was a dvd collection in chinese and not english, LOL!).

  • As with everything there always has to be someone who spoils it for others. This is the world we live in.

  • Same thing happened to me and my dad! Sent us a fake email from paypal, and told us to ship it to nigeria for his son that was in college over there. I recognized the scam IMMEDIATELY but my dad did not. I'm glad I was there with him when we were selling my xbox. This was last Christmas btw. Thank you for posting about this.

  • Awesome thanks for the tip I'm going to "buy" a bunch of shit on eBay now.

  • Stop flicking us off.

  • Also, even if I don't use paypal. I preordered my favorite bands new album months ago, at the time my payment information was correct, I had no idea the company selling the album wouldn't take the payment out till time of shipment so since I have moved the billing zip code was wrong and they contacted me to tell me the payment didn't go through and I'd have to reorder. Damn its hard moving a lot.

  • boo on ebay and paypal. Due to moving so often I have ordered things that by the time they'll be ready to be shipped I will be living at a different address and even a different city or state and have never had a problem asking sellers not just on ebay but favorite bands of mine and such to ship the item elsewhere after the fact and they've always obliged but now I'd feel bad even asking since they could fear I was scamming them. A few bad eggs ruin it for everyone I suppose.

  • Thanks for sharing this, the more we get the word out, the better.

  • Ebay takes such a massive cut of your sales as well its a joke. I have been screwed over by buyers before and ebay/paypal can give less of a shit about me. Ebay is only there for the buyers because thats how they get their pay check. Crooked ass corporations, FUCK ebay. BOYCOTT EBAY.

  • I was not aware of this scam at all. Thanks for posting about it. Just another reason to boycott ebay and paypal completely.

  • Did you realize him flipping us off almost half the video.

    Maybe where being trolled

  • Paypal and ebay is safe if you read their user agreement and safe selling and buying policies and actually abide by them. In your case you should have issued a full refund through Paypal immediately and there wouldn't be any chargeback fees. You can also cancel the purchase through ebay and your final value fees will be credited towards your next bill.

  • @kaasis85 If paypal and ebay were safe, they would post warning messages about the various scams used to take advantage of their policy. Instead the only warning they post is 'Don't do business outside of ebay' Why? Because whether people get scammed or not (ebay/paypal - same company) get their money

  • @overlander paypal=gaypal you think I can use alertpay?

  • @kaasis85 k ass I shipped a 400.00 item to

  • Just had this happen to me with a camera I am selling. I was able to send the fictious email to spoof@paypal.com and the did say these were phisihing attemps. a fraud complaint has been opened and I did not lose any money and my fees are being returned. Either way it sucks that there are buyers like this out there!

  • Why does he keep giving me the finger?

  • @zipzapzippo Australians are such amazingly nice assholes.

  • @zipzapzippo my subliminal message to the faceless corporate money changers. People have been given these scumbags the finger since Jesus was a kid!

  • red sox suck

  • stop flipping me the bird please, kthxbye

  • I never thought I'd get a reply, now I'm blushing, I'm on FB, long hair red dress...

  • You are gorgeous, if you need company out there just let me know... I am in Paris right now, and willing to travel... I too have had many a problem with ebay and paypal. I once received an old pair of shoes instead of a gold ruby ring, I opened a dispute and PayPal found in favour of the seller, saying 'no significant difference between the item ordered and the item received' OMG I tried to appeal, but they said 'you didn't provide a written statement from an expert proving they were shoes'. lol

  • @arianefr78 thanks Ariane (blushing) :)

  • @arianefr78 kinda of a sluty thing to say, "if you need any company let me know"

  • Another scam: they send a fake cashiers check which takes a few weeks for your bank to verify is fraudulent. In the meantime though, many banks will extend a credit to your account so that you think that the check has cleared when in reality it hasn't. The scammer then either steals the item you send them or demands a refund be wired back to them. When the bank finally figures out the check is bad, they reverse the credit to your account.

  • I once sold software, saying in my advert that because it was software it could NOT be returned... (too easy, they download it and then return it). The guy said he got it, thanked me for it, then he opened a dispute saying it wasn't what he had purchased, I was ordered by paypal to refund him as he provided a recorded delivery return number, but it never got to me, (as he probably put a false address knowing it would be returned to sender). He got the software and disk for free.

  • the lesson here is to only ship to the address in the invoice

  • I've been screwed by eBay before. Anyways, GO RED SOX!!!

  • that's too bad! same thing in argentina, but a least they contact you when there's a problem

  • Thanks for the warning, I greatly appreciated. Safe travels :)

  • Thanks

  • Comment removed

  • you're not going to use it for big ticket items even if the buyer doesn't ask you to ship it to a different location and if you do have shipment tracking? Is that because there are other possible scams out there or because even with the proper preparation, you can still get scammed by these guys?

  • @Agemrepus Yes, there are other scams, and my experience made me realize ebay/paypal don't offer support when things go wrong.

  • Interesting ur news and tips,my friend!

  • I found selling through EBay was a scam too! Once Ebay got their money they didn't wanna know... Beware.

  • @artfuldodga you dont work for ebay do you? Had any dealings with them when things go wrong?

  • @overlander No I don't work for eBay or PayPal

  • I thought its common knowledge to NOT deviate from the address provided from the buyers ebay/paypal account.. going anywhere outside that you're kind of asking for trouble esp w "big ticket" items.

PayPal/eBay have that buyer/seller specific information locked to accounts for a reason (Protection) oh both ends. I don't know.. personally I've not had a problem buying selling/returning or getting my $ back so long as I stick to common sense guidelines

  • You can't be protected in every situation but man for the most part I think the service has you covered.

big ticket item? insist on tracking (buying or selling), use addresses provided they're there for a reason!

All that said, yes eBay/PayPal are wayyy too complicated for avg people they really need to simplify

  • Hi thanks for the warning. I will keep on alert. Enjoy the rest of your holiday in Bali

  • Thanks for the warning. Hope someone from Ebay watches this. A disgrace

  • Good info...thanks!

  • i was selling my GoPro HD camera over ebay and they tryed the same fucking scam on me. The camera should go to Ireland and he had a Ireland adress and asked me to send it to Poland and i just for fun sed that i sended the package to see if they payment would stay on my account and it got canceled. Mostly those are groups who have 20+ accounts and target items that they can resell so they scam you to send it dont pay you and then resell your item from another account

  • @warezvz and ebay don't cancel the account, coz either way, paypal or ebay get their money!

  • @overlander they axualy dont give a fuck about the thing they just are interested in getting the money. Ebay should get sued for removing the oportunity to mark a user as a scamer. Before few year you could rate evry user and write comments and give him good or bad ratings so others could see if the user is the real deal or fake fuck who is trying to make money with stealing. Its unbelevable how ebay fucked up and basicly alowed crimals to legaly steal your things and money.

  • Yes Mate Ta for that! Most of the stuff I sell is Pick up C.O.D,On Items I post,NOTHING goes out until I recieve the email from paypal that payment is recieved, I and others really appreciate feedback on experiences from folk,it helps keep the bastards honest!

  • thanks for the warning, havent sold anything on eBay as of yet but good to know.

  • Of course ebuy is gonna charge you regardless - they are the biggest scam of them all.. I suggest you use craigslist :p

  • @JTfromSTL I think from now on, nothing like old style face to face transactions. When the shit hits the fan, ebay and paypal just don't wanna know!

  • Did you say ebuy?

  • @JTfromSTL aussie accent :)
