The only thing that strikes me as being odd about this is the fact that the vehicles (most, anyway) aren't in desert camo. Perhaps they are headed to Ft Irwin to be repainted??
What don't make sense is, is not ALL deployed equipment (or almost all) painted in desert paint?,,most of the equipment on this train was dark camo green,,,
These vehicles could have possibly came OUT from storage and are going to get checked out to be issued as new equipment.
Heck, in my base we still have LIVE munitions that are from the vietnam era MEANT for vietnam..... but were never used, and they look almost brand new, except a few areas on them that shows early signs or rust and pitting...... we still use them for testing new targeting systems. they get dropped regularly in Nevada
went in this order; 38+strykers,2cargo trucks towing arty,33 humvee(hv) most w/ trailers, ambulance, 29+ strykers,6 hv's,4cargo trucks, 81+hv's w/ 3+ armored, 1 cargo truck towing fuel , 2 more hv's. Anyone know what the boxes built onto some of the hv's are for? some had trailers similar to the ones NBC kits are packed into. Not sure what these are for but BO just brought back 20000 troops for a response force in the US. hopefully this is their vehicles going to an armory but I somehow doubt it
@william0873 -- These were off loaded from ships at the Port of Seattle, Washington and are headed back to Yermo for storage and training use. I think a few of these Trains went east to some base in Colorado, while the rest went down to Yermo. In total over 845 vehicles came back to the U.S.
@william0873 The boxes on the back of the humvees are either for holding supplies of some kind or to put dessenters that wouldn't normally sit quitely in the back of an open Humvee. It's not a troop transport HV because they are bigger and more comfortable (for troops) not Prisoners, The ones I saw on the train weren't designed to be comfortable. But really that's just my opinion..
