  • What is the tune that starts at 1:54, and what mechanism plays it?

Three cheers for your series, MBSI! Thank you!

  • Unfortunately three masterpieces are missing. The writer, the drawer and the musican, all built by father and son Jaquet-Droz about 1780. All three are still existing and could be visiting in a museum in Neuchâtel, switzerland where they were built more than 200 years ago.

  • The World's First Audio Animatronics!

  • absolutely beautiful what people can do

  • I want this smoking "turk" so hard. It looks so beautiful and relaxed. Oh i could show off with it in front of my friends..;D

  • The clockwork mouse at 3:50 was cute.

And did anyone think the automata at 3:13 looked like Dick van Dyke form the Chitty film where he dresses as a puppet for the King?

  • @andrewrobotbuilder I believe that is Little Tich, an English music hall performer. There's is a video of that automaton on youtube.

  • i love automata, there was a wonderful museum in york in the uk called the museum of automata, they had lavish scene settings with several automata in the big display casings , as each automata was lit , a video came on showing what that piece did do and sounded like , i was so enthralled buy it every year, until one visit to york and lock stock and barrel the entire museum was shipped to japan , acording to the notice on the museum door , a sad loss to the the uk ,

  • mechanical smoking. birds. entire scenes of action. wonderful. but where the heck did that nepalese looking dancer one come from O_o?

  • I believe the tune is called "Perles de Cristal".

  • Great! Thanks for posting the video!

  • Who knew such wonderful things were made so many years ago? What treasures must be available for viewing through the Musical Box Society International regional meetings. Sounds like a must-join group!

  • Gosh, what a terrific presentation. And the best place to see these amazing pieces first-hand is in the collections of members of the Musical Box Society International (MBSI). Their chapter meetings are the place to learn more.

  • It is hard to believe that most of these instuments in this video are well over 100 years old
