It is of course redundant to say your editing skills seem almost genetic. Indeed a few of your tribute shorts often work better than the originals. Ironically, when an artist slips and the moment is marred, we often THEN realize the seamlessness of their artistry elsewhere. I found a moment of awkwardness here and IT reminded me of your gift--so enriching and vital. I would also point out that these are THEMES from films, only 1 part of a score. So, B- is your final SCORE to an A+ filmmaker.
The Shining and.. Jurassic Park. The latter is a bit of a different ranking, perhaps, than the rest of these. But who doesn't love that touching, uplifting theme song?!
Very good selection. Difficult to do. Suggestions for part II (additional to the posted ones):
Popol Vuh (Werner Herzog films), Rick Wakeman (Lisztomania), Herbert Stothart, Harold Arlen E. & Y. Harburg (Wizard of Oz), Leonard Bernstein (West Side Story), Ernest Gold (Exodus),... well, too many to watch again and select. It's a work for you, haha. Merry Christmas!
I watched The Graduate for the first time just last week and want to paint the image @ 8:32. on a 5x5 canvas. Hoffman never looked more beautiful! I love all of your montages. What do you think of The Third Man, the ferris wheel sceneand dialogue between Joseph Cotton and Orson Well?
I agree with these choices 100%....except for Avatar. Personally, I feel James Horner had the opportunity the create an entire alien world, but instead relied more on cliché and 4-note trumpet motif from Troy. He disappointed me and it was one of the main reasons I just couldn't get into the film.
This was excellent. I really like the music from North By Northwest, as well as the music they use from the chase scene Some Came Running, and the Rio Bravo. I don't know if you'd care to use these suggestions, but they're some of my favorite.
Lot's of good picks here, some suggestions for part 2: my favorite Ennio Morricone work, "The Ecstacy of Gold" from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, (Tuco running through the graveyard) Bernard Herman and Elmer Bernsteins work in Cape Fear, Hans Zimmer - Blackhawk Down, James Horner - Apollo 13 "The Launch," Michael Kamen - Die Hard, Thomas Newman - The Shawshank Redemption, Howard Shore - Silence of the Lambs.
Wow a wonderful video and the movies, actors, and music bring back some memories -- i could not believe how handsome the young Yul Brynner was in "The Magnificent Seven"
"Do We Lose 21 Grams ?" by Gustavo Santaolalla from the movie "21 Grams" would be a great song to put in part 2, such a powerful song with such little notes used
"Amarcord", "Breakfast at Tiffany's", "E.T.", "The Gladiator", "Double Indemnity", "East of Eden", "West Side Story", "The Untouchables", "Once Upon a Time in America", "Once Upon a Time in the West", "Grease", "Saturday Night Fever".
seen: 1)star wars 2)magnificent 7 <3 chico! 3)Dark Knight-Joker is insane,dont question it,everyone knows it. 4) Titanic-cried but loved it. 5)The pink panther 6)The graduate-was...so-so 6)planet of the apes 7) INDIANNA JONES!!! *sings and dances*
this vid is AMAZING!!!!! *screams with excitement*
Definitely covered some of the best! A few more; 2001, Once Upon a Time in the West, Fargo, Blade Runner, Casino Royale (orig), Live & Let Die,Thunderball, Goldfinger, Yellow Submarine (in particular George Martin's work), Exodus, Born Free, Dr Zhivago, Love Story, Romeo & Juliet, American Graffitti, Risky Business, Barbarella, A Clockwork Orange, Apocalypse Now, Ferris Buehler, MASH, Silent Running, Billy Jack, Bagdad Cafe, Westside Story, Paris Texas... Don't get me started on TV! Peace \A/
Bravo, Mr Rick. Got a little worried I wasn't going to see PSYCHO . This video could go no all day with the amazing soundtracks out there. Music is key to my mad world of video, John Barry and Jerry Goldsmith are my favorite, however, in your next music tribute I think a little recognition for the brilliant work of ISSAC HAYES in the award winning 1971 classic "SHAFT"
And although the music was not an original score, KUBRICK made fantastice use of the classics in his 2001; A SPACE ODYSSEY

These are some of the best from the BEST (composers/artists)!!! Hope to see more. If you do repeats, I'd love to see posts for:
James Horner's 'Braveheart' and 'A Beautiful Mind'.
Ennio Morricone's score from 'Once Upon A Time In America.'
Georgio Moroder's 'The Myth' from 'Cat People.'
Clint Eastwood's 'Blue Morgan' for 'Million Dollar Baby' and the theme from 'Mystic River.'
Please consider! :)
