@oOTheLynxOo yep, no fancy computer gfx, blood or gore, so no 18+ cert needed :) I think the majority of young horror audiences today wont be interested after realizing its a PG cert and watching the trailer-theyll hear the bagpipes+"sleep" vocal and laugh, but they really have to watch the entire film and appreciate it as a 70s film. I think the bagpipes actually helped set the mood/general atmosphere alot!-one of my fave films.. from a 90s kid too, lol :D

LOL I haven't seen the Invasion of the Body Snatcher original, or any of the subsequent remakes, mainly because I wasn't sure which would be the best one to watch :) I'm glad to know that this one won't be a waste of my money. the bagpipes is used at the end of movie, when the dupilcates are loading the ships with the pods to transport around the world, it is being played over the speaker system as they work. the tune is Amazing Grace a song written by an Englishman called John Newton who was also the captain of a slave ship who possibly heard the slaves chanting the tune below and it stuck in his mind. The version in the movie is symbolic.
One of my favorite SCI-FI films of the 70's (along with Alien, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Moonraker etc). The acting was perfect. D.Sutherland and Brooke Adams were brilliant but I loved Jeff Goldblum and Veronica Cartwright the most - amazing screen couple. I guess this film inspired The Hidden (1987), Body Snatchers (1993), The Arrival (1996), Mimic (1997), The Faculty (1998), The Lake (1998), Slither (2006), The Invasion (2007), tv show Invasion (2005) etc. It deserved a sequel
why is it that in many old trailers, the film's title is repeated numerous times throughout the trailer ? was that just how they did things in old times?

The Soundtrack is difficult to come by on any "shareware" sites, and, if you do find it, it might have been uploaded from vinyl. It IS available on iTunes, but you have to dig for it by entering "Denny Zeitlin" (the composer) NOT the title of the film. A great fusion - moog synth-jazz-orchestral-avant garde score, not particularly well-known but highly regarded by those who know it.
OMG! I have this DVD and every time I watch it, I'm terrified to fall asleep if I have any plants in my room! (lol) If I do, I need to move them outside my house just before I go to bed! I remember when this movie was in the theaters, even though I was kind of young at that time.
I think they changed the rating system sometime in the 80,s but I'm not exactly sure when. The original Stepford Wives is also PG...that DEFINITELY would have received PG-13 today!

For me, the best part of the movie is the ominous, unsettling beginning, when things seem to be happening, but there's still no actual proof. Sometimes the lead-up to the actual horror is even more chilling. A first-rate horror film, better than the original.
This movie scared the crap out of me when I was a kid because my mother had these plants w/pod looking flowers on them, and I always thought they would get me, I could never sleep, esp with the dog w/ the human head!

Damn right, it is haunting. I just bought a DVD of the two-disc edition the other day, and just sitting through the movie once is ENOUGH to give you the creeps. I won't be surprised if I went to the mall tomorrow and saw all these people looking at me real differently like the way they did elizabeth and matthew. The paranoid screaming guy was an original actor from the 1956 film-nice touch. BODY SNATCHERS and INVASION got nothing on this masterpiece!
Best movie I've ever seen, yet most disturbing. It really makes a good point of how people depend on & need each other. Great ending...the remake's ending wasn't as good.

This movie scared the crap out of me when I was a kid because my mother had these plants w/pod looking flowers on them, and I always thought they would get me, I could never sleep, esp with the dog w/ the human head!

Well, not to sound racist but, the american dollar has the star of david on it. Also, many corporate leaders fund the federal reserve, they give credit so we can have money, and they do it and get profit over each dollar made, so we are in debt to them, and most these corp leaders are jews. They assimilated across the world, from latin america, to north america, europe, and asia, and where very successful in the economy.

Damn right, it is haunting. I just bought a DVD of the two-disc edition the other day, and just sitting through the movie once is ENOUGH to give you the creeps. I won't be surprised if I went to the mall tomorrow and saw all these people looking at me real differently like the way they did elizabeth and matthew. The paranoid screaming guy was an original actor from the 1956 film-nice touch. BODY SNATCHERS and INVASION got nothing on this masterpiece!

Best movie I've ever seen, yet most disturbing. It really makes a good point of how people depend on & need each other. Great ending...the remake's ending wasn't as good.
