Happy birthday to the legendary Christopher Lee. Simply the best (and most prolific) actor extant. Also 100 yrs ago Vincent Price was born, the merchant of menace. And yesterday was the birthday of the much missed Peter Cushing. Respect to the gentlemen of horror who made even bad films great.

Christopher Lee. Legend, god, vampire acteur extraordinaire. We love you! His Dracula IS the best performance ever, for various reasons. Time, place, understanding of role, etc. I love Gary Oldman's Drac too, but Chris Lee just edges it. Iconic.

He is one of the all time greats, even as old as Christopher Lee is a young 86, he can still steal a scene from todays generations actors and he does it with his commanding voice and sheer presence. What an actor to still command that kind of attention in a movie.

Lee is the Godfather of gothic film. The voice. The presence, even when very old. I wish I was a movie director. I'd cast him in a bigger role than "scowling jedi/wizard."

Contact lenses were used to make Lee's eyes red. Small veins were painted on the lens that covered the entire eye. Lee would comment on not being able to see when he had them on.
