I see that he mixes with the brush. Its not really such a good idea since it could ruin your bristles to paint and plus if you don't mix throughly, you see swirls left over. I say its more reccommended to use the pallet knife if you wan to mix it thoroughly.

Wow that was boring.Reminds me of an educational film from the sixties or seventies and not a good one either.You have to cut your values out and then put them together??? Sounds like you don't know how to control your values.Making a value scale without a standard to compare to is meaningless.I've seen countless schools do that and their scales always look like shit.
