  • This video went viral on Kiribati

  • Thanks a lot. Very..very..very helpful.

  • One question: why does he conenct 2 cables to keyboard and 2 to box(interface)? IN and OUT.

Couldn't he connect only OUT from keyboard? And why does he need this box?

  • Haha this was great.. The short version would be..

    "Plug the cable in"

  • @YouLoveBeef incredible as it sounds, that was the part i was stuck on. couldn't figure out the in/out out/in .__.;

  • holy shit i love this guys voice.

  • i want one!!!!

  • this was very helpfull, thanks =)

  • Why, if my keyboard has a usb socket, do I need to mess with midi/usb adaptors. I ask because I cannot make any sounds in W7 with an Evolution MK 249C controller, despite downloading the latest drivers from M-Audio.

  • I lol'ed so hard at this guys voice.

  • Can you connect a guitar using a jack leed to the midi input or does it have to be midi on both ends?

  • thanks, that helps me

  • I didn't know Frankie Boyle know so much about USB MIDI Interface connectivity.. haha

  • if i connect the mbox 3 pro to my laptop with a usb midi interface will solve the latencyu problems ?

  • stupid vidio

  • if you need this tutorial you are thick

  • I have a elektric drum kit with a MIDI out port.

Do you have to plug 2 MIDI cables in?

because my drumkit has only 1 MIDI port (MIDI out)

  • Hey thank you so much for posting this.. I was trying hours to figure out how to connect... (I connected midi in to midi in port)

  • will this work for a different interface?

  • My keyboard has a usb connection, the same as a M-audio has to connect with a computer. Those that help, or must i have a Midi-cable?

  • also würde jemand nicht wissen wie man midi anzustecken hat-.- die nervige software einstellung wird nicht erklärt :(

  • i have only 1 midi port on my keyboard and it's the midi out port help please !!?

  • its ok -- you dont really need a midi in port on your keyboard as a novice

in this case connect midi out from the keyboard and midi in from the usb interface only

  • Is it possible for me to just conect my midi cable to the out port and the usb obviously into the pc? i mean the question is Does that method work?

  • @R2ROrancid If you have a keyboard that has USB Interface built in (instead of the standard 5-pin, then you just need a printer cable and a driver for your keyboard. Some keyboards like the MOTIF have both 5-pin and USB aswell). then you don't ned the interface, just a cable.

  • Thanx pal! i did something easier, since i have an old casio midi keyboard i've bought a midi usb cable...really useful! :D and cheaaaap

  • @R2ROrancid Yeah that's a single chanel Midi Interface. I have the same thing. I use a Midi Merger to connect multiple keyboards then run the merger into an Interface, but it's just a USB cable with a Midi in and out. Bought it for ten bucks on eBay.

  • yeap ! very cheap! hope it lasts! i bought if on amazon but the business was more boring for me cause i live in venezuela..so a lil bit more money and more days waiting but still a bargain..here they were selling 4 times the price..i bought three and then sold the other 2 for the venezuelan price $_$ tee hee :D

  • yes. the midi in at the keyboard is needed when you work with a professional music sampler - its delivering the so called "midi clock" to your keyboard. i think you dont need that so just use one midi cable instead - thats ok

  • Would I need audio interface also when recording sounds from the computer into hardware???

  • muy bien master me aclaraste muchas dudas que tenia respecto a como conectar la interfaz gracias.

  • Although i know that was very simple, but i'm just figuring stuff out on how MIDI works, and that explained a lot.

Love the accent and the bagpipes!

  • @tehmushroom The music is uelliann pipes, not bagpipes. Uellianns are more melodic and smoother, while bagpipes are more of a screech.

I was hoping for more from this video besides how to plug a wire into a socket (i.e. something I would have been able to figure out in kindergarten.) My USB/MIDI interface appears not to be working and I wanted to see if there was some trick I'd missed. There's just no response at either end.
