U2 was the coolest and best band EVER when they did this album. They are still great but there is no fucking way you can ever beat what they did during this album and tour... just can't
@drvertigo hey drvertigo, if you get a chance, check out Bill Flanagan's U2 At The End Of The World. it really puts you in the picture even more than the footage and the songs of the Achtung/Zoo era. it was over 500 pages and i didn't want it to end. The Joshua Tree was my favorite forever, but it's Achtung Baby now. incredible work.
@argoninja2112 I read the book three times in a row, i felt i was on tour with them, global superstars who have their feet on the ground and are so humble, the music they produce is the poetry of our generation, im a better person thanks to U2.
@magsieboy definitely a special read about a special group. it boggles my mind that i was able to see them twice on this tour. i'm really grateful for that. i know what you mean about rereading the book! it's such an adventure!!
@callummcphail it was only a few hours in the course of the whole Japan experience, but it naturally stands out. given that Paul McCartney spent ten days in a Japanese jail for smoking pot, you'd think that Bono's minders would have had a small platoon making sure he didn't wander ANYWHERE. i bet his minders got an ear full that day!
@argoninja2112 adam and his ganja,,,,,, just for him,,,, i bet. i think they`ve just been clever with their narcotic taking,,,,,, nott hat i think he ever took heroin!
but i defo think they`ve indulged SLIGHTLY
from rattle n hum to achtung baby - zooropa - pop,,,,,,,, they just had to.
@callummcphail adam has said that when he went off alcohol, he ended up replacing the bottle with the spliff, which wasn't really healthy in his mind! i know the Bono, by way of a silly anecdote in Flanagan's book, makes reference to Edge taking shrooms and finding the secret of the universe. however, Bono and blarney are never too far removed from one another (i say this in as nice a way as possible. i am a big fan of U2.) Larry sounds like a health freak, and otherwise it's booze and cigs.
@callummcphail that's handy that you're not buying it because i'm not selling it. conjecture is one thing, but i'm talking about details circulated through a trusted source. i'm sure that given their desire to be "soul singers" and "reveal" rather than conceal, i'm sure they'd have let us know by now if they were into anything much harder than the drugs i've mentioned.
@argoninja2112 yeh, whatever matey. good source. i used to do work for u2.com and the dublin city tours. good source ya fanny. this isn`t about fact, it`s about opinion. what was it a little irish man said once.
@argoninja2112 yeh, i`m lonely. how fucking sad you are argo, how very sad indeed. yeh i`m that lonely i scour the internet all day so i can claim to be the undying know all on everything u2. what a twat you are! yeh, i`m so lonely, oh so lonely!

What's better than Edge on a Fender Strat, feeding into a Korg A3 and TC 2290, and finally coming out of a Vox AC30?
