  • Awsome video, thanks.

  • for oklahomas indian and southern history!!!

  • we have such nice people because all the assholes who commented below left so they can go suck cock somewhere else, they talk shit on oklahoma but we have they best economy, best housing market, best jobs, most jobs, those people that left are prolly a bunch of emo fucks. godbless oklahoma and the natives like me

  • great video, sent chills down my spine.. i love this great state of Oklahoma and I am proud to be an okie!

wasn't Adrian Peterson's parents from Oklahoma or something? or did u just put adrian on there because he played for OU?

    Oklahoma pride!

  • Oklahoma rocks!

  • My wife & i are from Belgium, europe. March 2010 we spent 8 days in OKC, and also made a roadtrip to tx,nm and az (route 66). Apart from the beauty of all of these states we visited, we were pleasantly surprised by the friendlyness of the people we've met. We loved the place. Earls Ribs, Irma's Burgers, the Geeks at the local computershop, barrelriding in Guthrie, Langston's, the helpfull people of OKC. Allready mis the place..

  • whats with all the Oklahoma hating???

i live in Oklahoma and i love it

  • R.I.P. Timothy McVeigh

    - You are an inspiration to all who hate Okies.

  • HAHA Oklahoma is the laughing stock of the US. I'm so glad I left this shit hole. This state is nothing but tornadoes, bible thumpers, and rednecks. Don't worry Okies you all can secede and then you can have Limbaugh instead of Obama as President, as you guys already said in a poll. I hope Timothy McVeigh comes back from the dead and bombs this place again. FUCK THE BIG RED STATE OF OKLAHOMA!

  • I was born and raised here in Oklahoma. Lived many other places, hated them, glad to be back home! Wasnt gone for too long anytime and always wanted to be back. Home for 52 years!

  • beautiful!

  • Happy birthday Oklahoma

    sorry it's late

  • When i first moved here in 2001 i already hated "Oklahoma with all of its "stupid hicks" and "dumb rednecks".... but now 9 years later I cant imagine how anyone could hate Oklahoma, i mean yeah there are the bad things like the tornadoes and the god awful summers where u can practically drink the air but there are the great things too. The history, the accomplishments, the beauty, almost everything to do with Oklahoma i now love...

  • i was born and raised in oklahoma for 23 years i love it here it was very quiet!

  • I love being here. Okie born and raised. Great vid.

  • I was born and raised in Oklahoma for sixteen years. I have always loved Oklahoma and always will. We have had so many accomplishments and we have survived tornados, a bombing, fires, and so much more. We are rising and we aren't going to stop not now not ever. As have the Native Indians have also helped us rise for years. If your an Okie let it shine. I am an Okie and I'm proud. Oklahoma is in America along with 50 other state I am proud to be an American. Oklahoma hes respect for every1.

  • It wil happen in OK 14-16th of August !

WOODFEST the WORLD wil watch !

    DAVIS OK

  • you know when i moved to Oklahoma in 2001 i thought it was gonna be a horrible experience with hillbillies and hicks galore... but now after 9 years as of tomorrow there is not a shadow of a doubt that i lo this place. With Oklahoma's beauty and colorful culture it never ceases to amaze me

  • Yeah, Oklahoma may not be great, but most people don't claim that here. Unlike Texas, we're not so proud to assume we got it all figured out. We've got ice storms and frigid wind in the winter, and deadly heat and tornadoes in the summer. It's not pretty, it's gritty, and it's not rich at all, and we've got a whole load of problems, but I'm proud of what it is, and I'm glad I grew up an Okie, not some pampered brat from somewhere else who thinks my s*** don't stink.

  • That is the best response I have read from a native Oklahoman concerning Oklahoma on an internet forum yet.

I don't see why anyone cares about their state more than being interested in a functional and efficient government. As if Oklahoma senators and representatives actually care more about you than their paycheck. I'd rather make a video about my family and friends than a video glorifying my home state.

  • @Stagolee22 You'r s*** stinks enough that everyone else can't smell anything else. You're all fat, lazy, judgmental, retarded, imbred, ignorant, worthless bags of maggot ridden filth and I hope you all kill each other faster than you already do, you backwater nightmares in this god forsaken hell hole. You're so retarded that you actually take pride in yourselves! and that's the amazing part! You're actually happy to be here! Well, fine. Stay here! Stay here and rot, you meth-headed hicks.

  • Oklahoma as a land has one of the most diverse landscape in America.More shore line that the east and gulf coast combined, more lakes than any other state. The people are friendly, hard working, moral. According to several sports Mags (Proclaiming) the GREATEST College FB program of All-time OU the most recent ranking by ESPN OU # 1. Most of all it's our people and our Indian heritage that make us 2nd to none. So if we wanted any lip off you TWC we'd peel it off our zippers. BTW my IQ is 137.

  • Personally, I do not care for OKC. It is too big, and too dirty. The road system is horrible, and there is always construction and detours on the highways. The people living in that part of the state are more of the "bible beating" sort. You are very likely to see the stereotypical Oklahoma in this region.

  • The accent is thicker, and you will see many pseudo cowboys wearing wranglers with a skoal ring in the back pocket, frilly shirts, and an OU baseball cap or a cowboy hat. This, however, does not make them 'dumb' or 'inbred'. Just different than you and I, but they enjoy their life, they have fun, and many of them are very well educated. Its just diversity.

  • I'm from San Diego, and while I love it there, I don't think it is dramatically better or worse generally speaking than any other large American City.

Every residence has pros and cons and if you want to say Oklahoma is great while spouting off all of the pros and non of the cons and say it is great, go ahead. I still think it is adequate living at best. Adequate in the sense that it is really no better than living in any other state.

  • Your absolutely correct TWC. Oklahoma is full of a bunch of dumb fat fucks. That's why I left this shithole last year. FUCK YOU OKIES!

  • Gorgeous scenery though.

  • We don't claim Hinder or the Flaming lips?

  • Of course we do. I just couldn't put every Oklahoman in this video. I ran out of song before I could put everyone in.

  • Ok well take Brad Pitt out because he didn't grow up here. He was born here and grew up in Missouri

  • @SweetLadyTiger . You had the bronc rider on here twice and you could cut one of those out and added some more pics ,like Toby Keith,Kings of Leon,Sam Bradford,Selmon Bros,Jason White him and Sam both Heisman Trophy wiiners the highest individual award in College FB,Waymon Tisdale, Saving Grace,Brooks & Dunn etc etc but I love what you did anyway. nice work.

  • I want to know about the Native American music at the beginning! Any ideas?

  • This makes me proud to be a native born Okie.

  • GO OKLAHOMA

    Big reds!!!

  • I wish I had an MP3 of this song... so I could make my own Oklahoma video... this video makes my sniffle, not because I'm sad, but because I'M PROUD TO BE AN OKIE...

  • o k l a h o m a oklahoma ok!

  • oklahoma thunder can you here the storm coming bringing thunder.

  • only problem is that AD is technically a Texan. He was converted to an okie. Go Sooners! Go Thunder!

  • im proud to be an oklahoman

  • go!!!!

  • og oklahoma thunder, i'll live here forever

  • Yeah Oklahoma Best Place Ever!!!! I'll Stay In oklahoma ForEver!!!! Go Oklahoma Thunder

  • You also left out Joe Diffie, born in Tulsa, Wade Hayes, from Bethel Acres, Blake Shelton from Ada and Bryan White from Oklahoma City.

Katrina Elam is from OK too, but I don't know what town.

  • oklahoma oklahoma go oklahoma

  • this video makes me proude to ba an oklahomen!!

  • Thank you, Tyger613. Oklahoma makes me proud to be an oklahoman. :-)

  • no prob lol^^

  • did anyone notice that oklahoma is not talked about alot but its the best ^-^

  • I came back on here an read all post,Butterfly,Oklahoma had nothing do with the Trail of Tears except to accept the Native Indians here your bitter at the wrong people-Okies. Have you visted Tahlequah and what the Cherokees have accomplished there. I doubt it. As for Peterson being a Texan, his father had a scholarship to play basketball at OU many yrs earlier so he's more Okie than Texan in fact I'd say Father and Son rejected Texas as many Texas athletes do.

  • Unfortunately, Butterfly has forgotten the old Native American saying..."Do not blame the living for what the dead have done." Hopefully someday she will open her eyes and try to build a future instead of hating in the past. Thank you for watching the video!

  • @SweetLadyTiger AMEN Sweet!!!!

  • this song isnt about what happened in the past its about being a better state than before sure oklahoma hasnt had a perfect past nowhere does, some people might think we shouldnt be proud of are state but i am.oklahoma is the best state ever.:)

  • I like this video

I'm an okie for life and will never change that

  • I was pratically raised in florida but had the opportunity to visit and stay in OK back in 1993 and again to live for a little over a year in little Duncan Ok.1999-2001.Circumstances have caused me to move back to Fl. and all I can say is the 1st chance I get I'm comming back and I'll never look back to stinking Fl.again, my vote for best video I have watched on youtube. Thanks so much.

  • Thank you! My only regret is that I couldn't have shown more great Oklahomans and there are so many.

  • =D oklahoma =D

  • LOVE THIS SONG!

    PROUD TO BE AN OKIE!

  • There are many many things I do not like about this state. (Like Tornados, prostitution, ect.) But there is ONE THING that I absolutely love about this state.

It's something that not many other states have the right to brag about. We have NATIVE CULTURE. That, my friends, is the best thing about this state. NOT OU or OSU. The Native people, whom we love, are what make us so special and proud!!!! =)

    - Nicole

    f/13/OKLAHOMA

i have met vince gill and his mom they are so cool

  • i love this song and this video because i am a true okie i was born and raised here in oklahoma and personally i pretty damn proud of it! If you a true Okie can i get a 'hell yeah'!?

  • Hell Yeah!

  • I see that all of you have different opinions. That is alright, however, I don't enjoy people fighting over who's opinion is true enough to be considered a fact. I know some of you really enjoy Oklahoma, while others....don't exactly have great memories there. There is no reason to argue.....I believe Oklahoma is beautiful and wonderful, but there were some events that weren't so wonderful that took place there.

  • We can't change that....but we can set aside those events and say that we learned from them...and those events helped Oklahoma to become the wonderful place it is now. We all are human, we rise under the same sun, and we look upon the same moon. In our hearts we all know, hate is not the right way

  • *sighs* I miss my Oklahoma....I moved a couple years ago to Colorado. I think everyone in the world should be this grateful and peaceful!

  • I have adopted Oklahoma as my home and I'm proud of what all its people have accomplished. While not perfect, I embrace what Oklahoma has become. Its past (good and bad), its present and its future is what makes this state great!

  • First of all, Great job Vince Gill for a fabulous job on the song. Your voice put a calm over some of the comments that have been written. HOWEVER...All of the things you who have posted before me have displayed by your thoughts exactly what Oklahoma and it's heritage and history have been trying to overcome. Don't set history back by speaking and continuing to be bitter before thinking and offering a solution. This world is already becoming less appealing by the minute WITHOUT your help.

  • I normally stand on the side of Free Speech. But as Apachebutterfly obviously has no desire to have a dialogue with others but is more interested in repeating the same things over and over. And since she has obviously never watched the video which does address what happened to the Indians in Oklahoma. And since I have had a flood of requests from my fans asking me to block her; I have now done so

  • Wow SweetLadyTiger. That kind of blind hatred from Apache is really unhinged. It is one thing to be an activist with a goal to rise and overcome. It's another thing to perpetuate the problem, drag down, and try to destroy hard work which they are ignorant of.

  • Thank you, WSMx. A true activist works to overcome a wrong. The true activists from Oklahoma have been great Native Americans like the ones featured in this video and so many more that are too many to list. Should the truth be swept under the rug? NEVER! Tell the truth but go out to make the world a better place for our children instead of wallowing in the past and living in hate and bitterness

  • Look don't you EVER digest ANYTHING? You have been remindedly repeatedly that SweetLadyTiger forgot nothing in this video. The natives are the first thing to appear in it for crying out loud. Did you even watch it??? I think it's high time SweetLady blocked you. You are a poisonous, obsessed lunatic fouling this fine video.

  • Where is the love and the peace from the Indians that they so desperately beg for?? Why nowhere. You are exactly what you so greatly despise. Happy Birthday Oklahoma!!

  • I think it is amazing how all Oklahomans have worked together to make a wonderful place to live. It is what makes us strong. Thank you so much for watching and commenting.

  • But have we not done enough to make up for that?? We give you all this stuff and all we get in return is crap from the Indians. I'm part Cherokee and part Chickasaw, but I'm very proud of Oklahoma. Oklahomans realize that what happened to the Indians was not right, but we have to put the past in the past and come together as one united state. Together we rise and divided we fall.

  • Wow, it's amazing how the indians say is how they want peace but yet they can't set aside their differences to celebrate the birthday of this great state?! And I'm not talking about all Indians, just the protestors. It really is a testament to how protesting can put a damper on something that should be wonderful to all people....no matter what they are. Yes, there is a dark side to Oklahoma.

  • Thanks SweetLadyTiger

  • im choctaw and this apachebutterfly dude is embarrising me to even call myself a indian in this great state of oklahoma...Happy Birthday to all oklahomas indian-white-black-purple whatever.

  • Cadebrown5, thank you so much for commenting and for showing everyone that not all Native Americans are bitter. :)

  • I'm Choctaw too. You are an excellent example of how well assimilation and cultural genocide works.

  • You really are sick. First you want to spoil a birthday celebration with your vile madness. Now bring in a racist group to foul this fine video that right from the word go already included all you said you wanted? Acknowledgement? You sink ever lower and reveal what you truly are with each succeeding post.

  • This is another truthfull comment, why hide it?

  • Yep apachebutterfly Oklahoma is the heart of the KKK. I'm sorry for your land loss, hopefully all the stupid Okie's will be devoured by a tornado soon.

  • @1OklahomaSucks1 , IF WE OKIES WANTED ANY LIP OFF OFF YOU WE'D PEEL IT OFF OUR ZIPPER.SO GO OVERDOSE ON YOUR IDIOT PILLS SOME MORE.

  • Interesting point.

First, there was the complaint about 'illegal immigrants' stealing the land and making the Indigenous peoples the poorest in Oklahoma (conveniently overlooking the Dust Bowl and Depression)

And then there was complaining that a Law was just successfully passed to keep 'illegal immigrants' from thieving State and Tribal funds and living on land that is not theirs.

    Funny math there. Funny logics.

My Granny taught me about ducks in a row and mad dogs.

  • No one can deny that the native peoples of this land were severely restricted and barred from entering as full citizens of the nation, however, that same scenario describes hispanics of native descent, african americans with and without native attachment, women, and other minorities. Few native nations were attached to a particular parcel of property so the land argument is pointless. And identifying with the "apache"..the marauders of plains is simply oxymoronic when asking for land.

  • Anyone who tries to pull the race card concerning Oklahoma truly is fully corrupt with nothing but lies.

Yes. We faced racism and social divisions. But it is different. Oklahoma has a LONG standing tradition in breaking racial barriers. Look into our music history - The Oklahoma Music, Jazz, and Blues Halls of Fame, Cain's Ballroom, Deep Deuce. Books like The Invisible Man, The Outsiders. People like Anita Hill, Jim Thorpe, on and on.

  • No bitter root, you were the one who came in here trying to pull the race card out of your sleeve. You forgot one minor, but OH SO important thing.

This is OKLAHOMA. Land of the Red Man. Get a clue.

  • You are a sick, delusional person. It's people like you who stir and spread hatred around the world today. It doesn't matter now what SHOULD have happened. What matters is what HAS happened. Nothing can change that. No amount of spiteful whining from the likes of you can help. Go stew in your vile juices and leave others alone to get on with life as IT IS.

  • why do you hide this truthful comment?

  • Few native americans were attach to a particular parcel of land??? Are you serious? So you have a personal reason to not like Apaches? Or is it just Apaches, I think not.

  • I've not heard about the law to keep illegals from using public and tribal funds. Interesting that anyone would have to make a law in order to be able to prosecute people for theft and fraud. But we live in a new era of deceit, in my opinion, so perhaps we must clearly define who is and is not eligible for such things in our times.

  • It generally states non legally registered immigrants not working on record and not paying public tax dollars, will be unable to receive food stamps, free medical services, live in state and federal funded housing properties, etc.

It even extends to anchor children born here who keep illegal families in the 'safe zone'. Studies showed once anchor children were born, parents ceased immigration procedures and turned to anchor children loop holes to live on Welfare programs.

  • The funds expected to be 'recuperated' or 'not spent on non tax paying people' once it goes into effect have been planned / earmarked for different programs which have suffered. Some of them include Welfare reform, Public works, and Public Tribal related projects. From what I understand.

  • Awesome. That's as it should be, in my opinion.

  • Yeah. Me too. It's fair.

Especially considering 'amnesty' was offered to illegal immigrants on a national level years ago, and the majority scoffed at it. They preferred to remain as illegal immigrants and eat up OUR tax dollars.

THAT was the end of the line for me. The opportunity to become working, tax paying citizens was offered.

  • And you are grasping. You are in the wrong place with the wrong group of indigenous peoples to be pulling the stunts you are pulling. We are Okies. And we do it OUR way. And obviously, based on the information we have provided, it's a far cry more effective and respectful to culture than your way. Go try to pull yourself up and do something for your own state and tribes. We have work to do.

  • Work you MIGHT benefit from one day if you ever pull your thick, addled, hatred consumed head out of your sadly protruding gluteus maximus.

    Good day bitter root.

  • Seems those who whine the loudest most often do the least. Oklahoma is celebrating its 100th birthday with or without your personal consent. Check your hatred at the door. You've had no personal contact with the events of the past and seem to merely want the negative attention.

  • The only ones who i hear whine are those who keep on with this "Illegal" Immgration. We as an Idigenous people will not participate in a disgust of a history that has stepped on us. If you don't like our words with truth don't whine about them. We don't live in no past, that past is the ripples that we feel and continue to see the effects of colonial genocide.

  • In other words, you'd rather continue to complain in places where no one cares about your voice. Your tactics are very much like the another group of people online. Bullying will not be effective. Sorry for your luck.

  • And for the record, if the "indigenous" peoples of this land had had an effective immigration policy in place 200 plus years ago...well, without dwelling too deeply there I'm sure you get the hint.

  • And while we're on the subject of your complaint, since your angst is against "colonialism", a.k.a. those nasty white folks, you should turn off your computers, your tvs, your radios, and definitely your cars, because not one bit of it was an "indigenous" invention. Start hoofin' it in moccasins again, dear. You're on your own.

  • Tecuhnuman, I fail to see how hate will solve anything. Now personally as a school child when we were taught Oklahoma History, we were taught about the oppression of the Indians. We were taught about the Trail of Tears. And we were taught the contributions that Indians have made to Oklahoma, which I added to the video in case you didn't notice. Of course I could not put an infinite amount of content in the video because of time constrictions.

  • SweetLadyTiger, that is most likely because they didn't view the video at all. They have no love nor real attachment to the land and its history.

  • Yeah. I remember what I was taught in school. I was taught the lies in the books. And I was taught the rest of the story too. Not just in school. At home. In museums. At galleries. On my Full Blood Cherokee Grandparent's farms.......

Maybe that is what they don't get. What Oklahoma REALLY is. That they have bought into the lies about Oklahoma.

  • But I ask you, Tecuhnuman and Apachebutterfly, how is hate going to solve this? We cannot go back and erase the past and the people who live in Oklahoma today are not responsible for the past. But in studying history we can try to learn from past mistakes and make sure they never happen again. Perhaps your efforts would be better served to try to educate people through Documentaries, Museums and Cultural Relations instead of hate and venom.

  • We are motivated by the love of our people, who were run of their land so others could have a better life than they could have. All we ask is, it to be acknowledged for what is really is, and not romanticized and tirivialized. We remember our history, we are called haters. Oklahomans remember their history and is an expression of pride. The irony is, it is the same history, seen through different eyes.

  • No you are called haters because of your methods and how your present yourselves. I really question if you even watched this video. I did acknowledge the Native Americans and what happened in this video. Maybe you were too busy attacking everyone to notice, try watching it again.

  • You're very critical of others, apachebutterfly, without offering up any sort of reasonable solution yourself. You may, of course, purchase land as other citizens of the country do, but no longer can you hope to receive it as a reparation. Do you live on the rez yourself? If so, what have YOU done (other than complain)to improve lifestyles and conditions for the native people?

  • This apache thing is absurd beyond belief. What it's trying to say is akin to saying to a young German, "hitler was a beast and because you're a german that's your fault and you should be miserable forever" Ludicrous.

  • Uh. You realise Oklaho0ma is Reservation free for the most part and the majority of the land in Oklahoma IS owned by Roll registered tribal members. Right?

Oh wait. Silly me. That would go against the ridiculously uninformed, uneducated, lame, sensationalist propaganda you are spewing off on here.

    Get a REAL education already.

  • This Apache thing??

  • My Grandfather taught me about plants and life on his Mountain in Stillwell. We were walking the woods one day. He cut a twig from the base of a tree and told me to taste it. Hoping it was one of the sweet trees, I did. It was bitter, and almost made me ill. He looked down at me and said "You may choke on the bitter root or you may spit it out." I have never forgotten.

  • It's easier for people to call me bitter, than it is for them to face the truth. You are on Indian land!

  • And my family are full blood Cherokee. Fool.

  • Shame on me for what? Respecting the vision my Grandparents had for me?

Shame on YOU for undermining the opportunities TODAY and disrespecting one of the few places on Earth where CHANGE and HOPE actually HAPPENS.

  • And for anyone else who wishes to say that Oklahoma should not celebrate 100 years of Statehood; I will say that you obviously have not been here nor do you know the rest of the story as it is still being written.

  • We have national holidays to remember our dead, Vetrans's Day, Memorial Day, shouldn't we remember innocent men woman and children who were killed in order for free up land for greedy settlers?

If you choose to believe the romanticzed history of your state, that is of course, your choice.

If we can celebrate an event that harmed the Indian people, should we not honor those who gave their lives so others could have what was once theirs? white washing the truth doesn't change it.

  • You are so far gone YOU still don't get it. They are celebrating a birthday. Celebrating what they have achieved in 100 years. I hope they enjoy it and the likes of you remain sad and stuck in your morbid past. Everyone else is in the present enjoying it. You can commiserate away for all I or anyone else cares.

  • Sequoyah, Moscelyne Larkin, Marjorie Tallchief, Maria Tallchief, Rosella Hightower and Yvonne Chouteau, Stand Waite, Will Rogers, Bob Wills, Wilma Mankiller, Quanah Parker, Jim Thorpe, Chad Smith, Wes Studi, Elias Boudinot, Ned Christie, Larry McMurtry,

The only 'white washing' I see going on is from YOU. And I don't mean skin color. Sweet heart.

  • No. As I said. The past is done. It can NOT be changed. The sooner YOU realize that and HONOR being the answer to the prayers made, the sooner the future will be better.

    I KNOW the TRUTH.

I also am beginning to know you.

ANd I would guess you haven't a clue who those people are and what they have done to better the whole of humanity, their tribes and the people of Oklahoma.

You want us to believe your lame propaganda that it's ALL about morbidity. You know nothing BUT the lies.

  • I see absolutely nothing wrong with having a day to remember the Native Americans. But romanticizing my state? If I had done that I would have left out all the Native Americans in the video. The whole point is that it took both the Native Americans and the Settlers to make Oklahoma what it is today. By all means continue to bitterly whine and live in the past while doing nothing to change things. I choose to live in today and build a better future.

  • Here here. THE TRAIL OF TEARS and the National Treasure paintings by Registered Native American Artists telling the TRUTH which you presented in the video are the farthest thing from lying that I can think of.

    WE do accept the TRUTH.

    We LIVE the TRUTH.

  • Here, here, MSMx! I couldn't have said it any better myself. As a Native Oklahoman with Cherokee in my blood and whose ancestors were also in the 1889 Land Run, I tried to show the great things that were accomplished by the Native Americans who were forced to come here and the people who settled here. I tried to point out how both have worked together to make something good.

  • There is no wrong in working together to make the future a better place where the wrongs of the past are unable to happen again.
