Kareem didn't like the press and stuff. And of course idk the guy I wish I did. But I suspect that Kareem Abdul Jabbar is like his basketball profit name. Thats how he played so well, he used the power of Islam. I wonder if his closest loved ones call him Lew. Or does he like renounce that name or something idk whats da deal?
Lost 2 games in his collegiate career. One was in that famous 1968 games against Elvin Hayes and Houston the other.......... 1969 USC at Pauley Pavilion in the famous stall game with which USC just held onto the ball sometimes for almost 3-5 minutes before taking a shot. Final Score 46-44..I was there and will never forget it. This was one of the factors as to why the NCAA installed the 30 second clock later on.
Still say that Kareem was the greatest player ever. Because of him, they changed rules: no dunking for several years. His skyhook was the single most unstoppable shot ever, and he could make it with either hand. He also was a catalyst for the three point shot. He was an amazing athlete and to me he's the GOAT.
My dad went to this game. The freshman vs. varsity game. I have the original program with the ticket and the score written on it. My dad passed away in 1995 and I just recently found this in a bookshelf. What a neat way to connect with my father, to hear the story of this game and its place in history.

The varsity team when Kareem was a frosh didn't even make the NCAA tourney which shows that Wooden was only successfull when he had hall of famers on his team.

Wooden was never asked to coach the USA olympic team because the insiders knew how he was winning those NCAA titles and it wasn'twith Xs and Os. The olympics were left to the real coaches such as Iba and Newell who beat Wooden the last 8 times they squared off. Shortly thereafter Wooden sold out his program to the notorious booster Sam Gilbert in order to save his job.
If you had even a clue about college basketball you'd know only 1 team from a conference made the NCAAs back in those days. A lot of excellent teams did not make the NCAAs. One year USC was ranked #2 and had 2 losses the entire season, but didn't go to the NCAAs as they were #2 in the PAC-8 behind UCLA.
are you stupid? before Kareem was recruited by wooden, UCLA already had 2 strait national titles under their belt... they were the reining champs when Abdul-Jabbar first arrived on campus...
and because freshman were not eligible for varsity play that year UCLA did not win the championship that year....that honor went to Texas Western...(now University of Texas-El Paso)
his real, real name is Roger Murdock.

The best title they won was the year after Lew left for the pros. Jacksonville had Gilmore and UCLA was supposed to get a taste of its own medicine.
Then Sidney Wicks took over and the Bruins were Champions yet again.
John Wooden = That dude.

You obviously know nothing about John Wooden or what he accomplished as a player or coach.

He won after Kareem left. Wooden won with big teams. With small teams with great centers without a great center.
